Packin’ Lambs

by Meg on October 6, 2007

According to Sender-Inner Goodwin D., when it’s time to move sheep and lambs to a new grazing field, a donkeh helps out with the moving process. The lamb-o-pack ensures no lamb is left behind… LOL

Donkeylambs

I am not making this up. I only post what people send me.

5 berthaslave 10.06.07 at 5:21 am

Cuter than a minivan!!! Safer than an SUV!!!! It’s a DONKEY WAGON…you know, for the kids!!!

6 Shaz 10.06.07 at 5:28 am

I don’t think I’ve ever seen sheepsies without docked tails before.

Lambies look mighty cosy there.

7 paulajeanne 10.06.07 at 5:29 am

That is too freaking cool!

8 Janice 10.06.07 at 5:32 am

That is possibly the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. But Cute! Very Cute!

9 Cass 10.06.07 at 5:36 am

Oh I wish we had a COXCU on one of the bebehs!

10 Celeste 10.06.07 at 5:49 am

It’s the Lamb Tram!

11 Michelle 10.06.07 at 6:20 am

I want a donkey with pockets. I never wanted anything more.

12 Linda 10.06.07 at 6:35 am

there sooo needs to be some COXCU action on this babeh!

13 Bryan 10.06.07 at 6:36 am

$2.50 the first mile, $2.00 each additional mile.

lol…looks like the two in the back are asleep…

14 adrianna 10.06.07 at 7:23 am

my mom’s response: “there must be more lambs on the other side to balance it out.”

15 CG 10.06.07 at 7:35 am

It looks like kids on a school bus

16 LowLah 10.06.07 at 8:30 am

holy crap i’d love to be all nestled in a lamby pouch. all warm and heated by another body. It’d like returning to the womb. Or at least I would expect so :)

17 gooeyctr 10.06.07 at 9:06 am

Geez, should I bleen or bleat?!?

This photo is simply baa-yond baa-lief!

18 sharon 10.06.07 at 10:09 am

where’s the fare meter?

Anyone else just want to do a soft kronsche on the tender white ears?

19 Matt 10.06.07 at 10:20 am

That’s awesome! WE must watch out for these lambs, they are smarter than they first appeared it seems…

When I first checked this picture, I came on all bleary eyed, and it really looked like that ‘Pa’ in ‘packin’ was an ‘Fu’ and my thought was “wow, they sure are pushing the limits with this one!”

20 kgirl81 10.06.07 at 10:53 am

*sigh*

the re-donk-ulousness continues…

*rolls eyes*

21 emily 10.06.07 at 11:29 am

this is totally deserving of a COXCU

22 Lauren 10.06.07 at 11:32 am

And LOOK, there’s tent flaps to pull down over their heads in bad weather!! WHERE is this dream-like place???

23 Lauren 10.06.07 at 11:37 am

now I know, I got up too early on a Sat. and I AM dreaming, counting lambs.

24 Amber 10.06.07 at 11:37 am

I’m with Michelle. I want a donkey with pockets! Especially if lambies are included.

25 just me 10.06.07 at 11:55 am

This is, like… UNBELIEVABLY cute. I’m not sure how long I stared at the picture thinking there was no way I could be possibly be seeing what I thought I saw.

Made my day!

26 Lisa Marie 10.06.07 at 12:10 pm

*I call shotgun!
*Moooooom! Maggie keeps touching my sack with her hoooooof!
*Everyone pipe down back there or so help me, I’ll pull over and give you all something to cry about!
*I spy something…. WHITE!
*Moooooom, I need new batteries for my Gameboy…

27 newlee 10.06.07 at 12:17 pm

finally, a practical use for those silly side pockets on cargo pants.

28 Jacki14 10.06.07 at 12:18 pm

Have you seen the daycare workers who take the babies out in strollers with 4 or 6 seats? That’s what this reminds me of–Miss Donkey out for a walk with her charges.

29 Barbara 10.06.07 at 12:23 pm

So very, very weird.
I simply love it.

30 Alison 10.06.07 at 12:54 pm

They have probably been put there to avoid being eaten by something like a fox.

Did the shepherd get redundancy?

31 Beauregard 10.06.07 at 1:01 pm

Ok, I think this is the cutest thing I have seen on CO EVER. Oh my god, this is INSANE.

32 Yitzysmommie 10.06.07 at 1:29 pm

Squeeee! This is fantastic.
When I was a nursing student 31+ years ago, the nursery had a garment that could be put over the nurse’s head so she could pack babies out in case of a fire. I kid you not!

33 Faye 10.06.07 at 1:38 pm

That donkey has been lam(b)inated!

34 Carrie 10.06.07 at 1:40 pm

I wonder if I could wear one of those and carry a 7 year old and a 15 year old?

hahahahahaha

35 jess e. 10.06.07 at 1:53 pm

Does anyone else remember that children’s story about a bunch of farm animals that start a band? The lambies look like backup singers to me!
Oooh la la la, ooh la la la…

36 Cheryl Johnson 10.06.07 at 1:55 pm

What shnuzzly long ears they have!

37 Jessarakitty 10.06.07 at 2:13 pm

I just checked my pockets and none of them have lambs. Wardrobe gap! Where can I order this garment, complete with woolies? Can I get half black lambs and half white please? The donkey is fine as is…

38 A thinker 10.06.07 at 2:22 pm

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

/teh poor little lamby heads sticking out is too much

39 Jeanete 10.06.07 at 2:34 pm

Rack of lamb? Sorry. That was baaaad.

40 Amanda 10.06.07 at 2:35 pm

At least the look cozy and ready for a ride!

41 kate 10.06.07 at 2:44 pm

the lamby pack.

way cooler than the fanny pack.

42 Theresa 10.06.07 at 2:51 pm

No, lams on the donkey. :P

43 Theresa 10.06.07 at 2:53 pm

PS are there also three lambs on the other side of Mr. Donkeypants? You know you’ve got to keep the oad even, or he’ll capsize.

44 Rachel of Cyberia 10.06.07 at 3:05 pm

Yitzysmommie: I know you’re not kidding. I worked in a hospital for a summer and the nurses demonstrated the baby-pocket apron. Newborns are really like large potatoes.

45 Susan 10.06.07 at 3:07 pm

Excellent way to save on fuel consumption.

46 Becky 10.06.07 at 3:08 pm

This is absolutely the coolest incidence of cuteness I have ever seen.

47 twig 10.06.07 at 3:18 pm

Newborns are really like large potatoes.

LOL. I never thought about emergency baby evacuation, but that makes sense. How interesting.

48 Pscaley 10.06.07 at 3:40 pm

Is there a forth one hiding in the very front? I see a bulge in the pocket but no fluffy ears…

49 Dianne 10.06.07 at 3:45 pm

It looks like there is something in the first pouch by the donkeys head. Is it sooo small, we can’t see it? I WANNA SEE, I WANNA SEE !!!

50 Annie 10.06.07 at 3:53 pm

I was gonna say six pack and then realized they come in the much more economical 8 pack.

51 sockmonster sarai 10.06.07 at 3:55 pm

“If you don’t settle down back there, I’m gonna turn this donkey around and we’re goin’ straight home! You hear me?”

“Yes Maa-aaa-aaa-aaam!”

52 The Raj 10.06.07 at 4:04 pm

This is inevitably true. A NorthWest Community in Colorado where the grazing of sheep in the high Rockies use this technique as sink holes and all kinds of things are actually treturous area for a bummer lamb. Too many lambs end up orphans and these are wonderful ways of helping out. I have even seen the Dogs adopt and keep track of a lamb or two. They are all one big happy family.

53 scoobie 10.06.07 at 4:13 pm

Dudes..So obvious this is a Photoshop! Don’t believes this.
The donkeh is really carrying kittehs.

54 leah b. 10.06.07 at 4:15 pm

How was your day hon?
I was ok until the packs got to full and they started kicking and screaming and finally I had to run al ittle scared the little s**** and then thank good they just became heavy lumps.

Honey how many times do I have to tell you do that in the begining and they you will not have that problem?
Yeah I know dear but it breaks up the day………

55 DL 10.06.07 at 4:55 pm

Oh now, that is just too cute, a lamb tote on the donkey. Makes sense to me. If they have to move the sheep around, and there’s a whole bunch of baby lambs, this would be the easiest and quickest way to get them all going. Eight lambs (the pouch has four compartments) on a donkey makes for speedy transportation. Very cute!

56 littleturkeylegsmom 10.06.07 at 5:38 pm

Jess e, the story you’re thinking of is “The Brementown Musicians.” And you’re right, these lambies would be great backup singers! “Oh-Baaa-Dee, Oh-Baaa-Dah, Life goes oh-hon, Baa baa baa baa Life goes on!”

57 Kristina 10.06.07 at 6:01 pm

This is so surreal. I love cute solutions to mundane problems.
Check out the serene look of enjoyment on lamb 1’s face.

Hey, ho and away we go! Donkey riding, Donkey riding,
Hey, ho and away we go, Riding on a donkey

58 Patty P 10.06.07 at 6:02 pm

I suspect teh donkey wouldn’t take any guff from a lambie-interested wolf or coyote either! A definite overlord of cuteness!

Hey, that’s it! Meg is the Cuteness Overlord! Tee hee!

59 Pscaley 10.06.07 at 6:11 pm

uhm… Patty P, did you just call Meg a donkey? (I mean, they are both utterly cute but…) =P

60 ariel 10.06.07 at 6:40 pm

Lord have mercy, this is cute. I love the blissful looks of relaxation on the little lambie faces.

61 NYgirly 10.06.07 at 7:20 pm

dis is lamb-tastic

62 Alex R. 10.06.07 at 7:36 pm

Can we PLEASEEEEE get a C.O.X.C.U. on those anerable lamb faces?!?! Look how cozyyyy!

63 Sabrina 10.06.07 at 7:54 pm

My mom has one of those on her couch. Guess she is misusing it– ’cause she keeps magazines and remotes in there. I’ll be sure to tell her!

64 Sheilagh 10.06.07 at 8:13 pm

Too Many Maureens, I think you meant:

“Re-donkey-bus!”

*g*

65 Golden 10.06.07 at 8:19 pm

66 little gator 10.06.07 at 8:25 pm

Adorable earage.

67 Goodwin D. 10.06.07 at 8:26 pm

I’m the sender-inner–this photo was taken by my friend Angela who lives in a village outside of Torino, Italy. It’s real. I assume there are four more lambs on the other side–I can ask her.

68 mrs fonebone 10.06.07 at 8:38 pm

So that makes the donkey a—nanny?

69 SixFootJen 10.06.07 at 8:39 pm

Bless you, Goodwin D! This totally made my day. Look at the earses on the lambkinses. The one closest to the front (third from left) looks like he’s smilin’ at us. Awwwww.

70 Allison 10.06.07 at 8:43 pm

Oh my gosh, that is awesome!!

71 TAJ 10.06.07 at 8:46 pm

79 Rebecca S. 10.07.07 at 5:14 am

Couldn’t this be a new government program? NLLB? No Lamb Left Behind?

:-)

80 Karen 10.07.07 at 5:29 am

OMG, no way! Too cute!

81 Rebec 10.07.07 at 8:34 am

jess e., I think the name of that story, where the animals have a band, is called the Bremen town Musicians. They could tote the smaller animals this way. And as a music teacher, I’m thinking that this pouch system would be a great way to transport instruments, stands, etc., too! They could go on tour – next stop Hamburg!

82 Theresa 10.07.07 at 12:50 pm

Sabrina, your mom has a *lamb-toting donkey* on her *couch*? And just how is she misusing it?

83 Theresa 10.07.07 at 1:04 pm

The Bremen Musicians is a German folk tale, and folk art motif. It’s especially cute because the art always depicts the moment when the animals become the town heroes by scaring some robbers away. The dog stands on the donkey, the cat stands on the dog, and the rooster stands on the cat, so they’re all stacked up, and yelling their heads off. It’s a very CO scenario. ;)

Here’s the bronze statue in the actual town of Bremen:

84 bucky 10.07.07 at 1:33 pm

Lamblet #1 “MOM he touched me”
Lamblet #2 “Are we there yet?”
Lamblet #3 “I have to GO”

85 book_monstercats 10.07.07 at 3:00 pm

The lambsies (or goatsies as some are suggestin’) are smiling, and so am I.

86 book_monstercats 10.07.07 at 3:01 pm

PS Meg, great rollover – LOL’d

87 Andrea|Nash 10.07.07 at 3:05 pm

Thanks, Theresa; cool statue!

88 esbee 10.07.07 at 4:17 pm

where was this photo taken? Cute as it is, does the USD know when those lambs were born, microchipped and moved? And the donkey, too! Under the NAIS, scenes like this will soon be extinct. See nonais.org for more info on the most ridiculous program that will put more surveillance on people like these then on illegals, drug dealers or child molesters. Just so corporate ag and factory farms can have a free ride to sell globally!

89 Wendy 10.07.07 at 4:45 pm

AAHHHHH! THE CUTENESS!!! *head explodes*

90 Catluvr 10.07.07 at 4:50 pm

That’s the most ridiculous Photo I’ve ever seen!
And cute. I forgot to mention cute.

91 Joan Carlson 10.07.07 at 4:55 pm

yes sir, yes sir, three bags full…

92 Goodwin D. 10.07.07 at 6:43 pm

Let me clarify. These are ITALIAN lambs and donkey. Not under the jurisdiction of the USD. If they were American lambs, they wouldn’t even be outside–they’d spend their short lives in a tiny stall being stuffed with corn. And yes, they’re lambs, not goats. Do we even have any donkeys in this country, outside of petting zoos?

93 kateylady 10.07.07 at 9:39 pm

WHEEEENNN IS THEIR GOING TO BE A NEW POSTTTTT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i need a diversion from cleaning

94 Sarah Ann 10.07.07 at 10:38 pm

They have these in the nursery at hospitals. If there’s an emergency, all the workers strap one on and fill it with babies!

95 Cozytailmom 10.07.07 at 11:34 pm

OMG!! I have to have one of those! Filled with lambs of coarse….

96 bunnajenny 10.08.07 at 1:11 am

Goodwin D. There’s a donkey what lives on my street in Virginia. It has nine pony friends. Clearly I should knock on his peeps’ door and DEMAND that they get him some lambs to love.

97 Lisa 10.08.07 at 4:08 am

The one back by the butt says, “all I smell is an ass’ ass”.

98 Ego 10.08.07 at 12:30 pm

That’s…that’s just unreal. I can’t even imagine why someone might want to back up some baby goats to go.

You know, just in case you need to snorgle some ears on the long trip you have ahead of you.

99 Kiragirl 10.08.07 at 2:59 pm

It’s Pocktober !!!

and,
“The Buses are Leaving!!” for anyone from Carmel H.S.

100 krishna 10.08.07 at 3:08 pm

Carpooling! Donkpooling?

101 Kiragirl 10.08.07 at 3:55 pm

from Bucky:

Lamblet #1 “MOM he touched me”
Lamblet #2 “Are we there yet?”
Lamblet #3 “I have to GO”

my response would be:
Donkey: “Do I have to pull over?!”

102 Ottrree 10.08.07 at 4:24 pm

Do you mind if I burrow some wool?

103 Jamie 10.08.07 at 8:24 pm

That was awesome. I think I laughed for a whole minute straight.

104 PInk elephant 10.08.07 at 10:41 pm

105 Subhangi 10.10.07 at 3:52 am
