It’s like this guy just did a perfect dive and kersplooshed into the pool.
Must have been a triple lindy.
Regina C., extra points for difficulty.
How on earth would one get a photo like that? LOL! Great shot.
Wow, now THERE’S a unique perspective.
It’s a squinty smiley face!
Okay, that made my day.

Ahn! I luff polar bears!
One day at the Central Park Zoo, a polar bear pushed off from the glass side of his/her enclosure, right at eye level. The paw was larger than my HEAD. I kid you not.
best hover-text ever!
Judge 1: 10
Judge 2: 9.7
Judge 3: 1.4 – He’s still impaired from the bun of yesterday.
OMG! I love this shot! Very very cool!
Oh gees…didn’t notice the hover text until I read Meatcup’s post. Made me giggle, too!
yeah, barely noticed the tocks cuz of those ginormous muffin paws
On this person’s flikr site there are more great shots. I esp like the one where it looks like the polar bear is being shy, with is paws up covering his face. I don’t know how to post a link, or I would. Sorwy.

Isn’t that a town in MA?
What’s up, Polar Butt?
the zoo here in portland has wonderful under-water viewing windows like this and you can get some fantastic photo’s! the bears are so animated and its a ball watching them play and interact with the people behind the glass.
I love this picture!
The Polar Bear:
1. Place into very large cold-water pool:
1/2 oz creme de cacao
1/2 oz peppermint schnapps
2. Top with ‘tocks
3. Drink upside down

Kiragirl — re: steps #2 and #3 — we’re not exactly Cirque du Soleil here, y’know.
For some strange reason, I suddenly find myself craving a cola drink…
Oreo cookie toesicles!!!
Dude, those are some feets.
I don’t think this is very cute. Sorry, it’s prob due to my anti-bear issues.

Hey, Valerie! I looked at tons of your pictures today, and all I can say is BEAUTIFUL! You take great photos.
MUCH appreciated Beavis’s Human!
‘tocks? toes? Can’t decide which I like best. Good thing I’m home now, where I can wander around muttering tocks? toes? and my husband knows to blame CO!
this photo is GREAT! I love those big fuzzy feet!
do animals even like having their pictures taken like that
debg, was the polar bear the Great Gus? He is an awesome lap swimmer, and does a mighty flip-turn.
Gus is the polar bear who became famous a few years back for his OCD-like repetitive behaviors. His handlers figured that Gus was depressed, and they went all-out to help him. Gus got a totally refurbished habitat with lots of stimulation, and a couple of girlfriends, and the difference was almost immediate. Now Gus is like a different bear. He is incredibly charming, and you’d never know he was the famous “depressed bear.”
HRH, I think this is Knut here. He seems to be having issues with a Blanket:
This is one of my most favorite cuteoverload photos EVAR!!!
Hey guys! This bears name is Willy! He resides at the North Carolina Zoo!
Makes me want to join the Polar Bear Club !!!
Fantastic Valerie! Thanks!
Yay, Val, you made Cute Overload!
What a teensy tail on a big old butt.
Aww man! I was just at the NC zoo a few weeks ago and he was off exhibit that day. *Major pout session*

This is such a great picture, First I find the doggy steps I have been looking for , and then I find this great picture, haha – This is becoming a great day already!
Here is where I found my doggy steps BTW,
Ok, Have a good day everyone,
I am off to work!
Hey , sorry about that guys the link to the doggie steps is actually
Got ta run , see you’ll soon!
Just went to my kids Scholastic Book Fair. There is a whole kid book (fact kind, not fiction) about Knut. Wheee!
Off topic… this is kind of a public service announcement… Has anyone heard about the woman in Rochelle, IL who had hundreds of cats, dogs, and birds in her house? It was pretty much a worst-case-scenario tragedy. It’s kind of near where I live actually, and the local airport near me is housing the animals for now.
If anyone lives in the area they need volunteers!
NEWS On KNUT from June 2007
Hey, it’s Iorek Byrnison!! I HIGHLY recommend Philip Pullman’s “The Golden Compass” — it’s a fabulous book! I just hope the movie version can do it justice.
Hover text – HIGHlarious! P.B. tocks – AWESOME!
Well… To a polar bear, you are a slow stupid seal. I have a hard time thinking of anything that would eat me without a second thought as cute.
I GET NO RESPECT!
Jeez, I sure hope that all the comments like Kate’s are sly references to Mr. Stephen Colbert.
But…ohh, those ‘tocks! That little tail! The light in the water! Someone catch me, I’m fainting!
(Lots of exclamation points!)
Polar bear ‘tocks! SQUEEEEEEE! Great photo!
