Doesn’t he know? Birds don’t eat macaronis. They’re for warming his feets.

Um, Now what I do with this thing MOm !?!?!?!?!

  3. Um, say…are you gonna finish that? I’m a leetle hongrees.

  4. Bee says:

Ok, so I know it is cute, but feeding Cockatiels (parrots) this kind of food is really bad for them. Please stick to bird seed!

  5. Lizzums says:

Our Perry (an African Grey) ate anything we did, including lasagna. Of course we had to wipe him down afterwards, but he was so cute!

  6. metsakins says:

mom…you bought the store brand!!!! how much more would it have been to get kraft!!!!

    paffftooeeee

  7. mm says:

oh yeah, my birds’d be scarfing this stuff down, too. And making a ness all over their faces just like this guy. :-)

  8. mustella says:

My parrot loves pasta, and it’s plenty good for him- but without the cheese sauce.

  9. Carrie says:

    mmmfffiiss mmpphhhiisss mmmmpphhhhrreettyy mmmmggooodd mmmmpphhhssstuuffss

  10. Alex R. says:

Aww, they’re the best, he’s so cute. Mine used to eat lima beans. Maybe this little guy is just sooo overwhelmed with the cheesy goodness he doesn’t know what to do!

  11. Annie says:

Ummmmfhhhh sthhhhumffn gaffffn I hafvvee a napfhhhhkihhhnffff pwefffeesefff

  12. Aoife says:

Ooo, how sweet! My cockatiel, Chuleta, is completely unadventurous and won’t try anything but his everyday bird food. Won’t even try bird treats or fresh fruit and veggies. He had been a stray, so you’d think he’d be willing to try new stuff, but no. :(

  13. Candace says:

Did anyone else notice the pink bird tongue action in the first pic?? Squeel!!

  14. Paige says:

haha and of course, a bite off of your fork is tons more tastey than if you give him his own birdie-sized portion!

  15. NYgirly says:

i wub the look on birdy’s face (2nd pic):

    uhhh… now what?
all ready to go PTOOH with his food ^^

  16. Wbirdie says:

“But it looked like fruit onna spoon?!
    Whaddishthisstuff?”

    PTOOOIE! XD

  17. Renae says:

My cockatiel refused to eat off a fork. Nope, not her, she wanted whatever I was putting in my mouth at that exact moment, because clearly that was the best bite. The exception was popcorn. Bowl of Popcorn = Birdie Swimming Pool. I love cockatiels, they are the best.

  18. Rioux says:

Oh Laurie C., that’s exactly what popped into my head too! I love that picture!

  19. Nichole says:

Birds are lactose intolerant. So cheese is definitely not something I would want in my birds mouth. Cute for a picture, dumb as a pet owner.

  20. charliewabba says:

I’m not sure there’s anything resembling lactose in instant-powdered-macaroni-and-cheese food. And as the owner of 5 birds, I would not feed them instant-powdered-macaroni-and-cheese-food as a part of their regular diet, although a nibble on a noodle now and then would not be out of the question if I ate IPMACF myself (which I don’t, because I tend to avoid powdered cheese food on principle).
I do, however, stand and quietly golf-clap applaud the inclusion of cockatiel cuteness on CO. I love their ha’r-doos.

  21. Laurie C says:

Thanks Ed. for adding the link to my post!

  22. jen says:

so funny. he does look like totally “now whut?”

    tee hee. cute.

now i want mac n cheese!

  23. Furbabies says:

Really dumb question here: How do you keep the birdee from flying away? Do you train them to stay on your shoulder or do they naturally bond to you and not want to leave?

  24. berthaslave says:

I think he’s saying, “What, no hot dog in that bite?”

  25. Chelsea says:

Furbabies, You clip the longest feathers on their wings to match with the rest of their wing, and then they can’t take flight. It’s called “clipping their wings” and if you do it carefully it’s completely harmless to them.

  26. Tygress22 says:

Aoife…have you tried letting him watch you take a bite of whatever it is you are trying to give him? Sometimes that helps….they are cautious like that. :)

  27. charliewabba says:

Hi, furbabies – sometimes they like to be on your shoulder, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they like to be on top of your head. They consider you part of their flock, so they like to be where they can keep tabs on you.
And they smell really good, too.

  28. Iris says:

Cute picture. But cheese (especially that instant mac-and-cheese kind) is very bad for birdies. Pasta isn’t too dangerous if it’s only given as an infrequent treat.

  29. book_monstercats says:

    His face is priceless.

  30. Aoife says:

Tygress22, Chuey acts like he’d like to taste things when watching me eat, but chickens out when I give him anything. You’d think he’d be tired of eating the same old thing everyday and would welcome some variety.

  31. Judy B says:

charliewabba; tiels do smell good don’t they! I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so.

My tiel loves sitting on me and stealing my food too. He also loves the ol’head perching. He’s cuddly little love bug, but only with me. I am his wife.

    HOORAY FOR COCKATIELS!

  32. JSIIWK Foundation says:

That bird is OBVIOUSHLY being FORCED to eat MAC AND CHEEZE. Speaking as a bird owner myself, I know a story of something I heard from my friend who said her vet said that MAC AND CEEZE IS BAD FOR THEM. Meg, you should take this picture down and only put things I like up. If not, I will call PETA.

  33. Theresa says:

    I M Jellus!

  34. Sunidesus says:

Awww! I used to have a cockatoo who loved mac & cheese. She would come running whenever I made some (yes running, she was a rescue and had plucked and really didn’t have enough feathers for the flying thing)

My ‘tiel on the other hand refuses to try anything other than her normal birdie food.

  35. Deb says:

    Cockatiels-n-Cheese — the cheesiest!

  36. Madonna says:

Be careful feeding different foods-birds aren’t suppossed to have SALT.

  38. cockatiel addict says:

The shoulder is the best place, it is where boirds can intercept the food. Tiels are doing their bit for humanity by testing foods for palatability. They are very smart like that didn’cha know!

(and yes they smell deelicious enough to want to pop in your mouf too, and when my tiel boy is happy he parades around with love heart shaped wings its adorabubble)

  39. Kritter says:

I loved “warming my feets” so much I printed it out and put it up in my office–I still laugh at it whenever I see it.

  40. teeno says:

my cockatiel kirb kirb loves KD!!! its cute because he is white and gets the sauce all over his face and it stains.

  41. mariaS says:

Birdies LOVE pasta! It’s ok to give ‘em, too. All seed diet is not good either. Salt isn’t especially good for them, but they love that, too — especially crunchy foods like chips. As for shoulder sitting, ‘tiels take to it naturally. My babies would ride around on me all day. I put them back in their cages to eat and drink, etc. I get covered with “etc” too, but fortunately it doesn’t smell. ‘Tiels are wonderful birds!

  42. Liz says:

I love gooey chocolate fudge, but that doesn’t mean I SHOULD eat it.

As a public service announcement, (*the more you know*) I had a ‘tiel who died from eating mac and cheese ONCE. Some birds are very sensitive to “nonfood.” :( please be careful.
However, glad to see birdies on CO!!

  43. Anne P. says:

Hey all, I’m the owner of this baby, and i laughed when I noticed the pictures. They both LOVES Kraft Dinner. but a few things:

I use Rice Milk and Margarine (Canola Oil) in it, so there is very little lactose. Certain cheeses also are lactose-free due to how it is made.

and also, if I tried to NOT share, both parrots would peck my eyes out! Thank you for the concern though.

Mimi, the other one is eight years old, and both are pasta and mashed potato (plain, no salt on any of it) freaks. They insist on being spoon-fed the potato.

I’m glad people like the pictures though! This boy, Paulie is suspicious of the camera, hence why I havent recorded him saying ‘pretty bird’yet…

    Pic on!

  44. EL says:

    What’s with all the nuffs?

The bird books I’ve read said cheese (in moderation) is a good source of calcium. And anyone who’s had birds knows they are funny little beggars. A small bit of healthy table food (not chocolate or avocado) is ok. An all seed diet is one of worst things.

    More birds on CO! (please)

  45. Annie says:

Okay I have resisted the temptation long enough

I been singing this in my head ever since I saw this picture.

    Singing:::
    I got the blues
    the blue box blues!

    Kraft Macaroni and Cheese
    I got the blues.
    The blue box blues.

  46. bessymouse says:

Charliewabba, haha that’s so funny that you think they smell nice! I LOVE the smell of my “Pixie” but people look at me a little strangely when I shove her under their nose and tell them excitedly to “smell her!”
She smells yummy. I’m always threatening to eat her when she’s naughty. mmm tiely wings. (hehe just kidding)
And my birdy loves cheesy foods, but she’s rarely allowed to have any.

  47. Subhangi says:

    LOL!

    More bokkin’, Meg!

  48. circuscake says:

this site says ‘cultured milk products’are okedokey for caged birds (i had no idea you could feed ‘em so many different things!):

p.s. i love birds! more birds! (don’t have any of my own)

  51. vickie says:

As a owner of 6 Cockatiels I suggesty you dont do that two offten. Only because it can be vital to the birds heath.

Other then that he/she is sooo cute. I have birds that look as cute as him/her. There name are sunny and beidy eye(cuz he has BIG EYES), and smallie.

  52. neligh says:

bird seed is NOT good for cockatiels especially if that’s all you’re feeding them. They need pellets and fresh vegetables. Seeds are treats.
