2 musicchick2 08.15.07 at 5:15 pm

LOL! How adorable! He’s pretty smart to go find the closest swimmin’ hole to cool off in.

3 marya 08.15.07 at 5:18 pm

Yay! I love the Maine shout-outs!

4 BB/VA 08.15.07 at 5:19 pm

I see moose – but where is squirrel?

5 Furbabies 08.15.07 at 5:20 pm

Awesome pic! Does this fella visit you often? Wish I had a moose friend.

6 ThreeCatNight 08.15.07 at 5:20 pm

Just felt the need to cool his hooves – aahh!!

7 Tugs 08.15.07 at 5:23 pm

umm…What does he think he is doing in that top picture? He is not swimming in my pool (not that I have one).

8 almk 08.15.07 at 5:24 pm

Wow, that’s pretty cool. I guess I’d wash it out real good before the kiddies used it again.

Interesting, because it has been beautiful in Boston! I <3 75-80 degree summers!

9 Meatcup 08.15.07 at 5:24 pm

nice rack!

10 michellemybelle 08.15.07 at 5:32 pm

Um, excuse me, waiter – there’s a moose in my soup!

11 Yes, my name is really Cricket 08.15.07 at 5:37 pm

I think that moose (mooses?) are just too cute. It’s like they’re so ugly, that they’ve come right around to cute! And I have to say, I drove to Maine, from New Jersey (WOOT NJ!) and was soooo disappointed that I didnt’ see one single moose!

12 Kar 08.15.07 at 5:40 pm

He needs a frosty drink with a straw, preferably out of one of those National Lampoon Vacation mugs.

13 Tigeress 08.15.07 at 5:45 pm

My sister sent me this same pic, but she said it was hot in Montana. Hmmmm…..

14 Angela 08.15.07 at 5:45 pm

Sigh!

Does anyone else remember that children’s book, “There’s a Moose in the Garden!”?

I can’t find it. It used to be one of my faves.

15 Keith Handy 08.15.07 at 5:48 pm

Bit of jpg artifactery there (especially on pic 2)? Or is that moose made out of legos?

(I know, I know — I can be so CRITICAL!!!)

16 Eva 08.15.07 at 5:50 pm

Yeah, moose like wetlands, so water-seeking behavior on their part doesn’t surprise me. Even so, I’d freak out if this were my backyard.

17 jen 08.15.07 at 5:50 pm

Awesome! Oh that is so cute. Silly moo-moo!

meacup- lol!

18 DKN 08.15.07 at 5:52 pm

meatcup – you rack!

19 cheryl 08.15.07 at 5:52 pm

why can’t he just use the pool at Whassamatta U.?

20 liz 08.15.07 at 6:03 pm

poor moO!
someone get him some more water in that pool!

21 Katherine 08.15.07 at 6:09 pm

Haha! =]
That is so adorable!

22 Carol 08.15.07 at 6:19 pm

Sorry to rain on your parade, but these pictures were actually taken in Lincoln Montana around the end of July when the temperatures were in the upper 90’s.

23 Jennifer 08.15.07 at 6:25 pm

Which state was this picture shot?

24 Jen 08.15.07 at 6:29 pm

Aw, I lived in Montana for three years and never saw a moose. No fair.

25 AfraidYoullThinkImBeingSerious 08.15.07 at 6:31 pm

Sorry, I just can’t find this cute. A moose should not be in such a small enclosure. Really, he has no room to swim in there.

26 luvinmalssomuch 08.15.07 at 6:31 pm

Next thing this moose is going to want is a Bahama Mama!
Mooses are coooool.

27 Daisy 08.15.07 at 6:33 pm

I am from Montana, too. And I believe this was in Lincoln, MT.

28 Erin 08.15.07 at 6:49 pm

Is this one of those “If you give a moose a kiddy pool, then he is going to want a margarita” type of moments.

29 Suda Nim 08.15.07 at 6:49 pm

A moos once oosed mi swimmin pool….

30 NotSupposedToBeDoingThisAtWork 08.15.07 at 6:52 pm

so if i put up a kiddie pool in my yard, will it attract meese? (i’m guessing not, as i live in NJ [YmnirCricket-W00T!]. actually, i’ll probably wind up with bears.)

lolz! too too funny, whatever state it’s from.

31 TFMS 08.15.07 at 6:57 pm

Oh waiter, there is a kiddie pool on my chocolate mousse.

32 MaggieBelle 08.15.07 at 6:57 pm

If I set up a kiddie pool in my yard I wouldn’t get meese. I would get alligators. Or kids…but really, what’s the difference?

Aww…southern Louisiana. Moose-free.

33 dandy_warhol 08.15.07 at 6:58 pm

You can lead a moose to water but you can’t make him swim.

34 llism 08.15.07 at 7:03 pm

Suda,

A Møøse once bit my sister …

35 Annie 08.15.07 at 7:07 pm

Wow that moose gets around I found him in Canada and Montana and aparently in MAine tho I didn’t find that one on line.

anyone else with links to a news story??? Mine were both on blogs and were received by the posters from other people. No way to tell where the moose really was. Though after living in Montana it certainly looks like up along the Canadian border but could easily be in MAine or Canada or any of the states that share a border with Canada

36 TFMS 08.15.07 at 7:11 pm

llism and suda-
moose bytes kan be pretty nasti!

37 One Eyed Daruma 08.15.07 at 7:12 pm

Well, another one did it in Alaska – a cute little mooselet: http://alaskaonline.com/about/photos/wildlife/story/5111434p-5038207c.html

38 Annie 08.15.07 at 7:26 pm

One eyed daruma I found that one too and this moose showed up at a pool in Wyoming too. Hehehe So who knows he could really be from alaska for all we know.. but hey. It’s a moose in a pool… how often do you really see it like two times well this time over and over in different states. and the moose drinking out of the back yard pool.

Will the real Moose state please stand up.

Alright I will stop.
Back to the cute people. and face it that pic is Hilarious.

39 R. Moore 08.15.07 at 7:36 pm

Curse you, TFSM, you beat me to it!

For years I’ve been writing “Mind you, moose bites can be pretty nasty…” on any white board I can. Except at school, where APPARENTLY the instructors want to use the white board :P

40 Cheryl 08.15.07 at 7:36 pm

uh-oh. moose in the kitchen!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=CAsYwW7pt7o

41 liz 08.15.07 at 7:39 pm

One Eyed Daruma -
if we had meeces around here, i would put little blow up kiddie pools ALL over my yard to attrack a sweet little moose-ette like that to my yard! i LOVE that pic!

42 TFMS 08.15.07 at 7:42 pm

R.Moore-
I bet if you went to school near the fjords you could write about Moose all day at school. ;)

43 rpennefe 08.15.07 at 7:42 pm

Anyone know that book by Arlo Guthrie?

http://www.amazon.com/Mooses-Come-Walking-Arlo-Guthrie/dp/0811810518/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-2589260-0569665?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187206849&sr=1-1

(ahem)

“Mooses come walking up over the hill.
Mooses come walking, they rarely stand still.
Mooses come walking; they walk where they will….”

That’s all I can remember of it. I do know that I sent it to my nevvie last year for Cutemas.

44 jules 08.15.07 at 7:43 pm

I love heem! Wish I had a pet moose…

45 Marie 08.15.07 at 7:43 pm

Hope there was water! Owners, don’t forget to refill, please.

46 llism 08.15.07 at 7:50 pm

No realli! She was karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an Interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge – her brother-in-law – an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: “The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist,” “Fillings of Passion,” “The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink.”

47 Pheas 08.15.07 at 7:54 pm

Can’t be Maine. It’d be “wikkid wahm” instead of hot.

meatcup, Afraid — HA!

48 ka9q's wife 08.15.07 at 7:59 pm

mooses scare me I am afraid I would be hoping the moose would mosey on.

49 Becky 08.15.07 at 8:10 pm

Wow, that’s amazing!

50 likingmoose 08.15.07 at 8:15 pm

It reminds me of the book, Have you ever seen a moose taking a bath. My nieces beg me to read that one over and over again when they come over. http://www.amazon.com/Have-Ever-Seen-Moose-Taking/dp/0970953313

51 Suda Nim 08.15.07 at 8:20 pm

Re moose bytes:

How do you do the fancy fonts?

52 Annie 08.15.07 at 8:23 pm

I *** love*** MEeces to pieces :D

53 Leah B 08.15.07 at 8:43 pm

that is one full kiddy pool, should we replace it with a bigger one and post sign for Mooses only!?!?!?!
LIke I don’t think they can read but it would not hurt to try

54 DanS 08.15.07 at 8:49 pm

Does this get filed under pools and racks?

55 Mary (the first) 08.15.07 at 8:59 pm

Can we smuggle this into the “cats in sinks” also? It’s kind of .. similar .. but on a grander scale. Yes?

56 Maureen G 08.15.07 at 9:10 pm

Shurr, Mary (the first). Moose can be cats if they want, and kiddie pools can be sinks if they want, and the moose/cat can be in Maine if it wants.

57 mary of maine 08.15.07 at 9:51 pm

i would love to know where in maine. im in aroostook county.
: )

58 Sir Real 08.15.07 at 10:00 pm

59 kel13123 08.15.07 at 10:32 pm

aaaamaaazing!! (singsong) boy all he needs is a lounge chair and a frosty drink lol…

61 Boo-Urns 08.16.07 at 1:12 am

Noted 16th century Danish astronomer and nobleman, Tycho Brahe had a pet moose so they can be tamed. Sadly it died after getting drunk at a party and falling down a flight of stairs.

Silly moose.

62 Dale 08.16.07 at 1:16 am

Sorry guys, you´re all wrong. This is in Russia–Mooscow.

63 Aubrey 08.16.07 at 1:47 am

64 Annie 08.16.07 at 3:41 am

NOpe you are both wrong Mooosula Moostana

65 Aubrey 08.16.07 at 3:44 am

Unless, of course, we’re north of the border, in which we must be in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

66 Peg of Tilling 08.16.07 at 3:54 am

If it stays for breakfast, can we feed it mooseli? and corn mooffins?

67 Annie 08.16.07 at 4:01 am

68 Annie 08.16.07 at 4:04 am

HE could be in Moose PAss Alaska …. or Moose Wyoming.

Peg you better pass the Mooseli and corn moosins

69 Cain 08.16.07 at 4:34 am

There are pamphlets in New Hampshire rest stops that describe the Moose as nature’s inescapable death machine. If you drive anywhere between northern Mass. and Maine, you WILL be annihilated by a moose.

70 Ghost of Freddy Mercury 08.16.07 at 4:47 am

Scare a moose, scare a moose, you will do the fandango…

71 Aubrey 08.16.07 at 5:01 am

And for dinner, moose-shu pork.

72 Shannon Johnson 08.16.07 at 5:04 am

cool, a moose in a kiddie pool

73 The Honourable Gladys Anstruther 08.16.07 at 6:13 am

Whats wrong with a mousse in the pool, oh! that sort of Moose.

74 Annie 08.16.07 at 6:47 am

Nope it is a moose getting cool in a pool

75 Leah B 08.16.07 at 7:15 am

ok so where is that picture of a moose snorgling a kitteh, is that to from Moose passor where was that from. Granted that had actual SNOW in the picture…. someone help me remember.

76 acelightning 08.16.07 at 7:42 am

Here in *warm* New Jersey (hi, everybody!), I’d really appreciate a kiddie pool full of cold, delicious chocolate moose, er, mousse.

Seriously, though, I’ve spent some time in northern New England and nearby Canada. Moose can be very territorial, especially in mating season (early spring). It’s very common for a moose to decide a passing car is a competitor, and start chasing it down the road – and those suckers can run FAST! They are also big enough that, in any encounter between a moose and a car, the moose is likely to win…

77 The Honourable Gladys Anstruther 08.16.07 at 8:36 am

Surely a Moosetake.

78 Mello 08.16.07 at 9:25 am

He just saw the pictures of Britney Spears in the pool and thought if he tryed it maybe they would let him be a Mooseketeer like she used to be. :P

84 Shannonj 08.16.07 at 2:08 pm

Yep, I’m in Montana too, and I’d seen it declaring it was taken here, too. I’m so confused!

But the moose is cute wherever he is!

85 Subhangi 08.16.07 at 2:16 pm

“I ARE TINY MOOSE!”

86 Heather 08.16.07 at 2:57 pm

Hey, fellow Mainiacs – is this up by Moosehead Lake?

87 Annie 08.16.07 at 4:08 pm

HAh All i know is my little search I did has it placed in Canada, Montana Wyoming and Maine. And none of them were the actual photographer. and they all were the same pictures. Interestingly I didn’t find one with Alaska on it but like I said I just did a quick search so Every state and province in Canada and USA could be claiming it.

88 Red_dragon_girl 08.16.07 at 7:53 pm

Ummmm, that moose is a bit excited, if you catch my drift. I did NOT need to see that.

89 Darsa 08.16.07 at 8:16 pm

Yay for Maine!! :D Excellent moose pics, tho I hadn’t noticed the “action” in the standing up pic until it was pointed out *rolls eyes*

90 Jen Barnett 08.16.07 at 11:09 pm

94 LaRee 08.18.07 at 4:16 pm

Does this moose really have two heads?

95 LaRee 08.18.07 at 4:24 pm

I read all the comments and can’t find where anybody else noticed that this is a two-headed moose!

Am I seeing things or does this moose really have two heads? I don’t know where this moose is from, but I’m betting on Montana. It just looks like Montana country.

96 A 08.19.07 at 1:15 am
