what the bleen is he doing?

  2. musicchick2 says:

LOL! How adorable! He’s pretty smart to go find the closest swimmin’ hole to cool off in.

  3. marya says:

Yay! I love the Maine shout-outs!

  4. BB/VA says:

I see moose – but where is squirrel?

  5. Furbabies says:

Awesome pic! Does this fella visit you often? Wish I had a moose friend.

  6. ThreeCatNight says:

Just felt the need to cool his hooves – aahh!!

  7. Tugs says:

umm…What does he think he is doing in that top picture? He is not swimming in my pool (not that I have one).

  8. almk says:

Wow, that’s pretty cool. I guess I’d wash it out real good before the kiddies used it again.

Interesting, because it has been beautiful in Boston! I <3 75-80 degree summers!

  9. Meatcup says:

    nice rack!

  10. michellemybelle says:

Um, excuse me, waiter – there’s a moose in my soup!

  11. Yes, my name is really Cricket says:

I think that moose (mooses?) are just too cute. It’s like they’re so ugly, that they’ve come right around to cute! And I have to say, I drove to Maine, from New Jersey (WOOT NJ!) and was soooo disappointed that I didnt’ see one single moose!

  12. Kar says:

He needs a frosty drink with a straw, preferably out of one of those National Lampoon Vacation mugs.

  13. Tigeress says:

My sister sent me this same pic, but she said it was hot in Montana. Hmmmm…..

  14. Angela says:

    Sigh!

Does anyone else remember that children’s book, “There’s a Moose in the Garden!”?

I can’t find it. It used to be one of my faves.

  15. Keith Handy says:

Bit of jpg artifactery there (especially on pic 2)? Or is that moose made out of legos?

(I know, I know — I can be so CRITICAL!!!)

  16. Eva says:

Yeah, moose like wetlands, so water-seeking behavior on their part doesn’t surprise me. Even so, I’d freak out if this were my backyard.

  17. jen says:

Awesome! Oh that is so cute. Silly moo-moo!

    meacup- lol!

  18. DKN says:

    meatcup – you rack!

  19. cheryl says:

why can’t he just use the pool at Whassamatta U.?

  20. liz says:

    poor moO!
someone get him some more water in that pool!

  21. Katherine says:

    Haha! =]
    That is so adorable!

  22. Carol says:

Sorry to rain on your parade, but these pictures were actually taken in Lincoln Montana around the end of July when the temperatures were in the upper 90′s.

  23. Jennifer says:

Which state was this picture shot?

  24. Jen says:

Aw, I lived in Montana for three years and never saw a moose. No fair.

  25. AfraidYoullThinkImBeingSerious says:

Sorry, I just can’t find this cute. A moose should not be in such a small enclosure. Really, he has no room to swim in there.

  26. luvinmalssomuch says:

Next thing this moose is going to want is a Bahama Mama!
    Mooses are coooool.

  27. Daisy says:

I am from Montana, too. And I believe this was in Lincoln, MT.

  28. Erin says:

Is this one of those “If you give a moose a kiddy pool, then he is going to want a margarita” type of moments.

A moos once oosed mi swimmin pool….

  30. NotSupposedToBeDoingThisAtWork says:

so if i put up a kiddie pool in my yard, will it attract meese? (i’m guessing not, as i live in NJ [YmnirCricket-W00T!]. actually, i’ll probably wind up with bears.)

lolz! too too funny, whatever state it’s from.

  31. TFMS says:

Oh waiter, there is a kiddie pool on my chocolate mousse.

  32. MaggieBelle says:

If I set up a kiddie pool in my yard I wouldn’t get meese. I would get alligators. Or kids…but really, what’s the difference?

    Aww…southern Louisiana. Moose-free.

  33. dandy_warhol says:

You can lead a moose to water but you can’t make him swim.

  34. llism says:

    Suda,

A Møøse once bit my sister …

  35. Annie says:

Wow that moose gets around I found him in Canada and Montana and aparently in MAine tho I didn’t find that one on line.

anyone else with links to a news story??? Mine were both on blogs and were received by the posters from other people. No way to tell where the moose really was. Though after living in Montana it certainly looks like up along the Canadian border but could easily be in MAine or Canada or any of the states that share a border with Canada

  36. TFMS says:

    llism and suda-
moose bytes kan be pretty nasti!

  37. One Eyed Daruma says:

Well, another one did it in Alaska – a cute little mooselet: http://alaskaonline.com/about/photos/wildlife/story/5111434p-5038207c.html

  38. Annie says:

One eyed daruma I found that one too and this moose showed up at a pool in Wyoming too. Hehehe So who knows he could really be from alaska for all we know.. but hey. It’s a moose in a pool… how often do you really see it like two times well this time over and over in different states. and the moose drinking out of the back yard pool.

Will the real Moose state please stand up.

    Alright I will stop.
Back to the cute people. and face it that pic is Hilarious.

  39. R. Moore says:

Curse you, TFSM, you beat me to it!

For years I’ve been writing “Mind you, moose bites can be pretty nasty…” on any white board I can. Except at school, where APPARENTLY the instructors want to use the white board :P

  40. Cheryl says:

    uh-oh. moose in the kitchen!

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=CAsYwW7pt7o

  41. liz says:

    One Eyed Daruma -
if we had meeces around here, i would put little blow up kiddie pools ALL over my yard to attrack a sweet little moose-ette like that to my yard! i LOVE that pic!

  42. TFMS says:

    R.Moore-
I bet if you went to school near the fjords you could write about Moose all day at school. ;)

  43. rpennefe says:

Anyone know that book by Arlo Guthrie?

    (ahem)

“Mooses come walking up over the hill.
Mooses come walking, they rarely stand still.
Mooses come walking; they walk where they will….”

That’s all I can remember of it. I do know that I sent it to my nevvie last year for Cutemas.

  44. jules says:

    I love heem! Wish I had a pet moose…

  45. Marie says:

Hope there was water! Owners, don’t forget to refill, please.

  46. llism says:

No realli! She was karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an Interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge – her brother-in-law – an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: “The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist,” “Fillings of Passion,” “The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink.”

  47. Pheas says:

Can’t be Maine. It’d be “wikkid wahm” instead of hot.

    meatcup, Afraid — HA!

  48. ka9q's wife says:

mooses scare me I am afraid I would be hoping the moose would mosey on.

  49. Becky says:

    Wow, that’s amazing!

  50. likingmoose says:

It reminds me of the book, Have you ever seen a moose taking a bath. My nieces beg me to read that one over and over again when they come over. http://www.amazon.com/Have-Ever-Seen-Moose-Taking/dp/0970953313

  53. Leah B says:

that is one full kiddy pool, should we replace it with a bigger one and post sign for Mooses only!?!?!?!
LIke I don’t think they can read but it would not hurt to try

  54. DanS says:

Does this get filed under pools and racks?

  55. Mary (the first) says:

Can we smuggle this into the “cats in sinks” also? It’s kind of .. similar .. but on a grander scale. Yes?

  56. Maureen G says:

Shurr, Mary (the first). Moose can be cats if they want, and kiddie pools can be sinks if they want, and the moose/cat can be in Maine if it wants.

  57. mary of maine says:

i would love to know where in maine. im in aroostook county.
    : )

  58. Sir Real says:

Cheryl – I’m guessing they just wade through Frostbite Falls.

  59. kel13123 says:

Noted 16th century Danish astronomer and nobleman, Tycho Brahe had a pet moose so they can be tamed. Sadly it died after getting drunk at a party and falling down a flight of stairs.

  65. Aubrey says:

Unless, of course, we’re north of the border, in which we must be in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

  66. Peg of Tilling says:

If it stays for breakfast, can we feed it mooseli? and corn mooffins?

  67. Annie says:

Peg you better pass the Mooseli and corn moosins

  69. Cain says:

There are pamphlets in New Hampshire rest stops that describe the Moose as nature’s inescapable death machine. If you drive anywhere between northern Mass. and Maine, you WILL be annihilated by a moose.

  73. The Honourable Gladys Anstruther says:

Whats wrong with a mousse in the pool, oh! that sort of Moose.

  74. Annie says:

Nope it is a moose getting cool in a pool

  75. Leah B says:

ok so where is that picture of a moose snorgling a kitteh, is that to from Moose passor where was that from. Granted that had actual SNOW in the picture…. someone help me remember.

  76. acelightning says:

Here in *warm* New Jersey (hi, everybody!), I’d really appreciate a kiddie pool full of cold, delicious chocolate moose, er, mousse.

Seriously, though, I’ve spent some time in northern New England and nearby Canada. Moose can be very territorial, especially in mating season (early spring). It’s very common for a moose to decide a passing car is a competitor, and start chasing it down the road – and those suckers can run FAST! They are also big enough that, in any encounter between a moose and a car, the moose is likely to win…

  77. The Honourable Gladys Anstruther says:

    Surely a Moosetake.

  78. Mello says:

He just saw the pictures of Britney Spears in the pool and thought if he tryed it maybe they would let him be a Mooseketeer like she used to be. :P

  84. Shannonj says:

    “I ARE TINY MOOSE!”

  86. Heather says:

Hey, fellow Mainiacs – is this up by Moosehead Lake?

  87. Annie says:

HAh All i know is my little search I did has it placed in Canada, Montana Wyoming and Maine. And none of them were the actual photographer. and they all were the same pictures. Interestingly I didn’t find one with Alaska on it but like I said I just did a quick search so Every state and province in Canada and USA could be claiming it.

  88. Red_dragon_girl says:

Ummmm, that moose is a bit excited, if you catch my drift. I did NOT need to see that.

  89. Darsa says:

Yay for Maine!! :D Excellent moose pics, tho I hadn’t noticed the “action” in the standing up pic until it was pointed out *rolls eyes*

Am I seeing things or does this moose really have two heads? I don’t know where this moose is from, but I’m betting on Montana. It just looks like Montana country.
