18 another Michelle 07.14.07 at 6:03 pm

Believe it or not, my cat Jake LOVES to be blow-dryed. Almost every day when I turn on the hair-dryer, he shows up and waits in the bathroom doorway or at my feet. Sometimes he jumps up onto the toilet lid and paws at me while I dry my hair. When I turn it on him, he lays on the floor and basks in the warmth.

19 Theo 07.14.07 at 6:10 pm

LeannRose — agreed, and updated.

20 Theo 07.14.07 at 6:10 pm

another Michelle — oh I believe, all right.

21 leannrose 07.14.07 at 7:14 pm

Theo–thanks for taking my input!

another Michelle–yeah, Hobbes really did not like the blow dryer…or it could have been the gaggle of 10 year old girls trying to grab him and put the blow dryer in his face. That’s so cute that your cat loves it! It must be adorable to watch!

22 pyrit 07.14.07 at 7:41 pm

“WHYYYYYYYYYY?” asks the bebeh tuxie kitn.

You’ll be bootiful and floofy soon, lil cat.

Kittayn is sad, but I think is cute.

26 kbryna 07.14.07 at 9:14 pm

i know a woman whose cat loves to be vacuumed with the vacuum-cleaner attachment.

and my sister’s cat has a love/hate relationship with the hair dryer: when she uses the dryer, he comes running to stand near her feet and growl at the dryer.

why do people give their lil kitties baths and make them sad? my kitties don’t get baths. they would never, ever forgive me.

27 ILuvCuteOverload 07.14.07 at 9:16 pm

The helpless look takes the cake my friends! I just wanna cuddle him and make it all better!

28 Peg of Tilling 07.14.07 at 9:33 pm

Those eyes are so sad I expect someone to ask me for money.

Po’ baby kittee.

29 Theo 07.14.07 at 9:34 pm

Spare a five, Peg?

30 Cassandra 07.14.07 at 9:39 pm

So adorable! my cat is about to have kittens. how old is the kitten? IJ think that it is so adorable!

31 musicchick2 07.14.07 at 9:44 pm

Poor widdo ting…. his Momma (or Daddy) must have felt so guilty. But he really is SOOOOO cute!

32 Harper 07.14.07 at 9:49 pm

We just gave our two kittehs their yearly bathings last week. Max didn’t put up too much of a fight – he likes to play in water. He just yelled the entire time we washed him. Alti on the other hand decided that she did NOT want any part of it thankyouverymuch. Thirty minutes, one thrown tomato (note to self – clear off window sill before washing kitteh! she has good aim!) and two soaking wet humans later the ordeal was over – except for the evil looks we got the rest of the day!

33 metsakins 07.14.07 at 9:49 pm

kbryna – sometimes they get fleas and sometimes they have skin conditions that bathing improves

34 Silent Meow 07.14.07 at 10:35 pm

Awwwwwww…poor little kitty!

35 sv 07.14.07 at 11:02 pm

My kitteh made it to cute overload! I’m honored!

36 Ponygirl 07.14.07 at 11:52 pm

What a little face!

37 Tanyasss 07.15.07 at 12:16 am

oh those blue eyes…
hooly symmetry!

looking at this little kitteh i understand why some people think bathing cats is the most evilest thing in the world.

38 trin 07.15.07 at 12:52 am

kbryna, when my little guy was just a little puff ball of a kitty, he missed a leap and ended up IN THE COMMODE… he then NEEDED a bath.

Haven’t bathed him since, unless he got into something and required bathing… like the time he was attacked by a “squish” pillow and was covered with staticy little styroballs… (I really really didn’t want him to wash himself in that case!)

39 Tina Rhea 07.15.07 at 1:05 am

Haven’t tried him on blow dryers, but our longhair loves to jump up in front of the air conditioner and have that cold air blow through his fluff– even up his bum, which I wouldn’t care for, myself.

I once had to wash the fluffiest kitten I’ve ever seen because he had had diarrhea. No fun for anyone involved. Poor Fergus’s back half looked like a drowned rat’s, but I tried to towel him as dry as I could.

40 MamaLana 07.15.07 at 1:08 am

There’s no reason to bathe a kitty unless it got into something RILLY bad! Oh, poor widdle guy!

41 newlee 07.15.07 at 1:18 am

i can just about see its bottom lip quivering, trying to hold back the tears.

theo, can we pretend it’s friday and you animate that bitty kitty?

42 fish eye no miko 07.15.07 at 1:23 am

Y U DO THIS 2 ME?

43 Longtail 07.15.07 at 2:12 am

What a precious teeny! I just want to kiss that little pink nose and fuffle him dry, then give him a kitty treat.

44 doodleb 07.15.07 at 2:32 am

lather. rinse. snorgle!

45 Shannon Johnson 07.15.07 at 3:50 am

i think that is about how my cat Oscar looked when he got a bath.

46 soxfan 07.15.07 at 5:15 am

I bathed a lil orange stripey kitten once. He got into the trash, which I was sure he could not into, being so little and all. When I got home after work, there was a can on the floor which had previously contained Chef Boyardee ravioli, and lil kitty had dried-up orangy-red sauce all over himself. Apparently he fell asleep before he could clean himself up. Heh!! Forever after, he loved Chef Boyardee sauce.

47 Tigger 07.15.07 at 4:20 pm

My kitty gets a bath when his fur gets oily. For some reason his fur gets all yucky and matted feeling…even though he looks fine. It’s been worse since he’s been going outside. He also doesn’t seem to do a very good job of cleaning himself…the other kitties like to help him! Methos gets worse and worse every time we bathe him. This last time he jumped and twisted himself as high as the windowsill in the bathroom! If he had front claws he probably would have climbed the shower curtain…and my husband would have been minus a hand! Drying, on the other hand, he loves. He loves being wrapped in a towel in his mommy’s arms.

This poor kitteh looks like Methos does when I bathe him!

48 SlaveToThreeFelines 07.15.07 at 4:43 pm

When I got Buddy, he was dirty and stunk from being an outside kitty. No fleas thank goodness as Buddy was found in -15°F weather. He wasn’t too bad getting baths. Hated the drying off with a towel part.

Scarlett had a bath when she first went to the shelter. She was 6 weeks old and had no visible fur, only crust and fleas. She had another bath just before she was spayed. She was really good for the bath and I towel dried her and flea combed her. About 2 years ago, she seemed to be excessively shedding, so I tried some of that shed-reducing shampoo (didn’t work). She just cried and cried. I didn’t get to see her bath at the vet’s a few weeks ago. She was then given a lion cut. On the way home, she was either really peeved at me or she was still under sedation, but she peed in her carrier. She proceeded to splash me the whole way home with it. Luckily it didn’t get in the car, just on me. So, needless to say, she had to be bathed then. She was good, though, and dried so fast since she hardly had any fur, just her “uggs” were wet!

49 Tina Rhea 07.15.07 at 5:23 pm

Tigger, if Methos has no front claws, it is dangerous for him to go outside, unless maybe he can’t possibly get out of your yard. He can’t defend himself against roaming dogs or other cats or raccoons or whatever.

50 CatFreak 07.15.07 at 8:29 pm

Awww … this little sweetie looks like Xena used to!

We had to bathe Xena, ’cause we were bottle-feeding her, and little abandoned ferals like her sometimes have a lot of digestive difficulty during the switch from real cat milk to KMR, and they get diarrhea, and poop all over their nestboxes and themselves.

Then you gotta bathe ‘em in the sink and use the hairdryer on them (can’t let teeny-tinies air-dry, ’cause they get too cold.) Sometimes you can get away with just sponging off the hindquarters, but if they’ve rolled in kittenpoo, they need a whole bath.

Now, nine months later, Xena still has to come in and “supervise” whenever I turn that hair dryer on. She sits attentively, a few feet away, and waits for me to “blast” her with hot air, which she’ll bat at, while she runs away.

Then she comes back for more.

Cats are insane. I’m just sayin’ …

51 Yitzysmommie 07.15.07 at 8:34 pm

Poor leetle B&W babeh…comere heeere, I will cuddle you and floof you and feed you teensy bits of tuna and you can purr in my arms.

52 Laurie C 07.15.07 at 10:09 pm

I had to bathe 6-week old rescued feral kittens because even though their fleas had been eradicated with Revolution, they were long-haired, and the flea dirt wouldn’t entirely comb out of their fur, where it would continue to itch them. The vet recommended bathing, and warned me that since the flea dirt contains dried blood, and they were white with gray patches, I might see them turn pink when the water hit them. They did! I also put a small, folded towel on the edge of the sink for them to hang onto, and each of them in turn took the sink bath very well, with front paws clinging bravely onto the towel as I scooped warm water over them.

53 donnalynnern 07.16.07 at 12:52 am

That look is priceless. Makes you wanna spoil the babeh and make it alllllll better.

54 leah b. 07.16.07 at 2:39 am

my cats hear the hair dryer they run fast to get away, some cats like noise things others don’t. But can anycat resist the fridge opening up I don’t think so

55 dH 07.16.07 at 3:38 am

56 tracyFlick 07.16.07 at 3:54 am

KITTEH: Ohh….ohhhh….

(cough)

KITTEH: ….ohhhh…

From the novel, YodaKitteh.

57 Tanyasss 07.16.07 at 5:57 am

dH, you are one lucky lady?gentleman?

hope derby was successfully defleaded. deflead? defleateded? deflated? wait… unfleaded? unfleated? uh… debugged!! there, i clearly know my english.

58 The Honourable Gladys Anstruther 07.16.07 at 6:37 am

The indignity! How could you do this to moi.

59 kk3 07.16.07 at 10:34 am

Tina Rhea – My calli LOVED the A/C. She to would run right up to it – plaster her nose against it – and then do those wonderful slow kitty blinks. She was in heaven. We took the “kids” to the mountains once. She sat on the arm console and wanted the a/c blowing straight in her face the whole time. If we moved it….she made it KNOWN how much she disapproved. She would even go as far as panting! What a drama queen she was! :) ))

60 Jen 07.16.07 at 11:59 am

Tanyass–ROFL! As an english major, I thoroughly approve of making up new words. Good for you!

61 Subhangi 07.16.07 at 1:48 pm

Awwww, poor kitteh. Atleast he’s clean!

62 ThreeCatNight 07.16.07 at 1:48 pm

That poor little thing. He looks so unhappy!
As the “mother” of three kitties, I never bothered to even try to wash them, as I’d like to keep my arms intact. It’s just enough getting one of them into the carrier for a visit at the vet’s!

63 kar 07.16.07 at 2:03 pm

Looks like something from the Simpsons.

“L-l-lisa, I thought that you l-l-loved me, l-l-loved me.”

64 Metz 07.16.07 at 4:03 pm

Reminds me of those big eyed cheesy 70’s “paintings” I useta have one of a kitten in an alley. *Hmmm, actually I think I still have it I’ll have to go look*

65 sv 07.16.07 at 11:19 pm

Derby was successfully de-flead, and much happier now. There was an absurd amount of blood when I washed her.

66 Ninjin 07.18.07 at 7:48 am

Aaw, the poor thing looks so hurt.

67 Lizzie 07.19.07 at 6:07 pm

I’m not sure if my kitten Barley is happy with water or not…

whenever anyone is having a bath, they suddenly see this little face over the side of the bath! His ears are completely flat and he narrows his eyes at the bather. But I’m not sure if this is to say ‘get out of my bath’ or ‘eww, who would go in THAT?’. :(

The trouble is, he REALLY needs a bath. Often, too. Whenever he goes outside, he always gets SOMETHING stuck in that fluffy fur of his! Once he even got cement inbetween his toes… o_o”
Anyway. He always lays in slugs and soil and other disgusting things when he’s out. I, personally, think he does it to be annoying. Lol. He’s like that. Nevertheless, we love our little Barley.

68 kaly 07.23.07 at 4:52 am

the little face is sooo adorable!!!

69 SYRUP15 08.14.07 at 11:58 pm
