Meanwhile, over at Seaweed’s birthday party…

by Meg on July 25, 2007

People, you know the more redonkulous, the better as far as I’m concerned. Well, this turtle-birthday-party-in-the-tub fits the bill. Please check out the décor…

Seaweed_birthday_006

The perfectly fitting parteh hats (who knew!?)

Eee! Turtles! XD

2 ThreeCatNight 07.25.07 at 5:24 pm

The hats are a perfect fit!
Nice to see turtles can be color-coordinated, but they should have put a little salmon frosting on the sardines.

3 Annie 07.25.07 at 5:24 pm

Speechless… I am stunned.. just sitting here with a dopey grin on my face.

4 oaklandcat 07.25.07 at 5:24 pm

HAHAHA! Love eet!

5 Space Cowgirl 07.25.07 at 5:26 pm

Clearly the bright, clashing colors and elastic bands are harmful to the turtles’ sensitive ocular color receptors and diaphragms! Please remove this post immediately!

This is at least the cutest reptilian picture I’ve ever seen. Pets must seriously wonder what the heck goes on in our heads. :)

6 Lioness 07.25.07 at 5:26 pm

Oh my doodness!

7 ceejoe 07.25.07 at 5:29 pm

lol, gotta love the peeps that love their aminals!

8 Redzilla 07.25.07 at 5:31 pm

Turtle Anthropologist 1: this is the oddest of the cultural events they have invited us to thusfar.

Turtle Anthropologist 2: I sincerely hope this isn’t the ritual at which they intend to eat us.

9 a different Laura 07.25.07 at 5:40 pm

OMG, I just about busted a gut laughing at this one! But it looks like someone in photo two had a little piddle in the tub… prolly from too much soda pop.

10 jen 07.25.07 at 5:42 pm

O

sardines are pricey. clearly the giver was not shellfish.

TOO CUTE!!!!

11 pyrit 07.25.07 at 5:43 pm

Tinky Winky! Dipsy! La La! Po! Say hello!

12 Leah B. 07.25.07 at 5:49 pm

How long do turtles live their may be a lot of this kind of birthdays ahead…..

I love the sardines with the candle ,lololol

At least someone will eat those things ……….

13 Subhangi 07.25.07 at 5:49 pm

Oh no, Pyrit, you’ve got me singing the Teletubbies theme now! In that same voice, too!

Toitletubbies! Pum-pum Toitletubbies!

Adorable beyond words. A very loving owner indeed!

14 Theo 07.25.07 at 5:55 pm

NOOOOOOOOO SUBHANGI!!! COME BACK TO US!

Quick, somebody, the TeleTubby anti-venom! NOW!

15 pyrit 07.25.07 at 5:57 pm

Heh, heh, heh, heh….

16 Manda 07.25.07 at 5:58 pm

Oh, dear heavens. That is by far one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

17 jude 07.25.07 at 6:00 pm

He(she?) looks older than 2 – maybe we can get a look at the tell-tale belly markings…or is that just a turtle myth?

18 Kathie 07.25.07 at 6:17 pm

Are they playing a game of musical shells in the 2nd photo?

19 Courtney 07.25.07 at 6:18 pm

I was very confused by the first picture — I thought there were turtles on a wall!

Love the party hats. Do I detect a turtle smile in the last picture?

20 soulcal006 07.25.07 at 6:19 pm

i was looking at the last picture with the turtle and the sardines. i thought to myself…that turtle doesn’t exactly seem to thrilled about the sardines. must be a picky eater.

21 Desdemona 07.25.07 at 6:24 pm

It’s not that he’s not thrilled about the sardines — that’s a “put me down!” look if I ever saw one. Ehn, ehn!

22 guineapiggin9 07.25.07 at 6:25 pm

Why was I not invited? :(

23 shandrewsca 07.25.07 at 6:27 pm

Did anyone notice that the turtle’s name is SEAWEED? How perfect can that be? And I can tell by the beady eyes and splayed toes in the last pic that is one turtle who wants DOWN! Hehehe

24 Martha in Washington 07.25.07 at 6:29 pm

I think in pic 2 they are doin’ the Hokey Pokey.
“Put your right foot in, put your right foot out…” ;)

25 Andrea 07.25.07 at 6:34 pm

Do you know why the turtle blushed? Because the sea wee-d. HA. Or is it because Seaweed peed in the tub?

26 Kiragirl 07.25.07 at 6:41 pm

Put your right flipper in,
Put your right flipper out.

Put your turtle ‘tocks in,
Put your turtle ‘tocks out.

27 charliewabba 07.25.07 at 6:47 pm

Why only 1 candle? Shouldn’t Seaweed have 2? Or even 3 so he can have one to grow on? And what do turtles wish for when they blow their candles out?

28 Kiragirl 07.25.07 at 6:48 pm

I think they wish for other turtles.

29 Shannon 07.25.07 at 6:55 pm

Love people who love their pets.
Happy bday Seaweed!! Great name and seems like you are a lucky turtle. Got lots of friends and people who luff you. (Bear with them – humans are just odd. But this means they love you.)

Many many more!

30 Shannon 07.25.07 at 6:56 pm

oh but eep! Honey – time for a mani/pedi! :D

31 DKN 07.25.07 at 7:22 pm

I wish there was a rubber duckie pinata.

32 Chris B. 07.25.07 at 7:36 pm

Is Seaweed One or Two years old? The balloons have a two on it but there is only one candle on the sardine cake. Now I don’t feel bad when I throw birthday parties for my dogs….

33 M. V. 07.25.07 at 7:47 pm

omg Today’s my birthday and it’s been the most horrible day ever (The Boss would be at the top of the list…) and I can’t even tell you how much this tickled me, i.e., got my spirit up and out of the gutter. Thanks and Cheers! to CO who has saved the day once again!!!

34 haydin 07.25.07 at 7:48 pm

Redzilla: you kill me.

35 Mary (the first) 07.25.07 at 7:49 pm

This is so great! I wonder if the other turtles are neighborhood friends.. y’know the kid next door kind of thing.. or roommates/siblings of Seaweed’s. I’m beginning to want a turtle. :: sigh::

36 Shannon Johnson 07.25.07 at 7:50 pm

Oh yes turtles!!!!!!!!!!! Something other than kittehs or doggies. I love it.

37 leannrose 07.25.07 at 7:58 pm

The turtle in the third picture is probably irritated that the price tag was left on the seaweed box–what bad taste! Hilarious concept, though, the whole b-day party thing.

38 AuntieMame 07.25.07 at 8:00 pm

A turtle birthday party! I have now officially Seen Everything.

I’m going to be giggling about this one all afternoon.

39 Kiragirl 07.25.07 at 8:15 pm

Leannrose,
And they didn’t even wrap it! Not even in foil or the funny papers (when no real wrapping paper is on hand).

40 vasco 07.25.07 at 8:37 pm

HAPPY
TURTLESDAY

Geez, you folks act like you’ve never seen a turtle birthday party before. (rolls eyes)

But…I thought today was Wingsday?

42 metsakins 07.25.07 at 9:07 pm

Okay, now I know why I’m addicted to this site. My mind is just reeling from those pictures. I, for one, would love to meet the thrower of bday party. My type of peep.

43 Cassandra 07.25.07 at 9:08 pm

Everyone scroll to the top of the comments, read Jen’s shellfish comment, and commence with the hilarity. I come for teh qte…I stay for the silly…I love youse guys :D

44 wendy 07.25.07 at 9:44 pm

slowest game of musical chairs ever

45 coughingpuppy 07.25.07 at 9:49 pm

My birthday was two days ago and turtles are my favorite animal. This made me smile.

46 Lauryn S 07.25.07 at 9:57 pm

Seaweed? Unbelievable. If I ever get a turtle, I am going to name him that too…Cutest name for a turtle EVER.

47 Marie 07.25.07 at 10:01 pm

Doing something like this with turtles has never occurred to me! A party hat on a turtle? Genius!!

Extra howls for the floor decor. Is there any other way to do it turtle style?

Love, love this!

48 lurkertype 07.25.07 at 10:43 pm

Tub turkles, havingk a b-day party.

They can close the internet — we have now officially Seen It All.

49 R. Moore 07.25.07 at 11:34 pm

This has gotta be up there with the hedgey party. How awesome.

50 judy 07.25.07 at 11:35 pm

TOO GOOD FOR WORDS. hats on the shells.

hats on the shells.

51 Metz 07.25.07 at 11:54 pm

Sheesh.
A girl spends the day workin her fingers to teh bone and all heck breaks loose at CO. What is the world coming to? First a poor helpless kitten is squished and now you’re showing off turtle keggers in the can no less.
*wanders off muttering*
*runs back in to giggle at the turtle b-day party & saunters off humming teh teletubbies tune*
Again again! lalallalla
Tinklewinkle tinkywinky, budubmumpbumpmup, paddapaddapaddapo….heh

52 leannrose 07.25.07 at 11:57 pm

Before this, the only turtle party I’ve seen is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed party. Cowabunga, dudes!

53 Rhoda 07.26.07 at 12:06 am

The first picture is just so cute. Tiny moving haaaaats

54 Furbabies 07.26.07 at 1:00 am

Not just cute pictures, but art!

55 Tatum 07.26.07 at 1:54 am

I just came across your blog for the first time. It’s great!

56 skippy 07.26.07 at 2:13 am

ahahahahahaha! i love eet! further proof that ANYONE looks cuter in a party hat!

i want my next birthday party to be a turtle party, even though i’m not a turtle myself.

57 Lady Di 07.26.07 at 2:19 am

Shannon – please, no mani/pedi for the toitles – the long nails mean it is a boy toitie – the girls have short ones – the boys use them in the mating process.

58 kel13123 07.26.07 at 2:56 am

aww! toitles!!!! i laughed for like ten minutes about the post that says “slowest game of musical chairs ever” thats just great. thanks for all the grins co! i’ve needed them.

59 BJ 07.26.07 at 4:10 am

Happy Hatchday? Problems finding banners and balloons fer sure. Are you birthed from an egg?

60 Dale 07.26.07 at 5:02 am

Shell-(invert)a-brate good times, come on!

61 Aubrey 07.26.07 at 8:31 am

Can’t think of a re-tortoise to that, Dale.

62 thepetmuseum 07.26.07 at 1:09 pm

Oh. You have GOT to be kidding me. How adorable.

63 Yitzysmommie 07.26.07 at 1:44 pm

Can’t decide which is more HEElarious – the adorable pix or the peeps comments.

64 Angela P. 07.26.07 at 2:22 pm

I think I’ll take some ideas from this party for the one I’m giving my daughter soon! :o )~

65 CharmeC 07.26.07 at 8:48 pm

lol! I can’t believe Cute overload actually posted these pictures, it’s been a while since I sent them and I was giving up hope XD

You folks might like to check out the original turtle birthday post on my blog, the entry is in Chinese but you can see a video near the end proving that turtles love strawberries and apples as well as canned sardines!

66 Angela P.´s daughter 07.27.07 at 5:20 am

Mom, if you get me sardines one more time I´m moving out.

67 balas 07.27.07 at 6:57 pm

i am proud to call myself CharmeC’s aunt and these turtles “great aunt”.
CC and her boyfriend rescued these little things from doomed and ill-informed “releases” in New York’s polluted waters and either raised them in their tub or released them into the turtle pond in Central Park. Seaweed is one of those who stay.
About Seaweed’s age? Folks, where is your manner? you don’t ask that sensitive question!
one candle for all the ages!
