Cute Overload :D
Sunday night sketti, kids, come on.
Yes, I’ll get you a Coke too, Gracie. Hold yer horses.
Gus, paws off the table.
Kimberly J., I think serving milk might be well-received ifyouknowwhatimean, andithinkyoudo
I want my sketti with extra cheese mom!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and not a lot of sauce yuck
mom I want a diet coke too
I had a cat who really liked spaghetti sauce. She would lick up the remains in my dish. It may have been the cheese in in, though. She liked curries, too.
I also knew a cat who would slurp up strands of spaghetti. Sometimes the end would bonk him on the nose.
That gray one is gonna pounce, sauce all over.
Such a familiar site in our household.
I wonder if they do the old “If I can’t see you, you can’t see me” routine, ducking their heads under the table whilst reaching towards the steak with a sneaky paw?
“Mother, I thought we were going to go tubular…where’s my baked ri-cat-oni?”
Aw, but they’re sitting so nicely using their best manners and stuff!!
Silly kittehs, don’t they know that Wednesday is Sketti Day?
That´s not pasta sauce–it´s catsup.
And with that cheap pawmesan cheese? Forget it! I’m eating out!
Can I have a root bear float? Can I PLEEEEAAAASSSSE!
(Also, my step-mother has those place mats)
yea Aubrey, cheap pawmesan cheese just doesn’t go with spawghetti. idk what mom was thinking…
I´ll take the whole kit and kanoodle.
thepetmuseum: EXACTLY!! Now in all my years of kitty parenting, I’ve never seen ‘em want paw-sketti, but I guess every kitty’s tastes are different. And Kimberly J? I agree with Meg… a couple of plastic cups of mew-ilk, (or saucers) would probably be a VERY smart move right about now. I wouldn’t wanna see kitteh’s wearing pawsketti hats or anything!
I used to have a cat that like pasta. She would lick the plates at night if we let them on the counter. Then she’d have a cute orange nose.
My kitteh would eat sketti. She’ll eat anything! Just the other day she ate sauerkraut. eewww
Maymee – REALLY??!! That’s VERY unusual! I actually LIKE sauerkraut, but I have to be in the mood. Maybe it’s because my heritage is German. Is your kitty a German breed?
My baby Chiaro loved spaghetti sauce.
Probably cuz the first night I had her we had super cheesesteaks with loads of rib eye, pepperoni, sausage, bacon & red sauce.
Needless to say she didn’t get just kitteh chow that night.
My cat Loki loves spaghetti sauce – even just plain marinara, without meat or cheese in it. I don’t let him have very much, though, because it’s got onions and garlic in it, and one or both of those is supposed to be bad for cats. I have no idea what he likes so much about the stuff. (He also once ate a large – for a cat – helping of sauerkraut, but it had the same effect on him as grass from the lawn; in other words, a few minutes later it was returned, more or less intact, all over the rug.)
My cat likes spaghetti sauce too! He’ll go into the sink and eat scraps off the dishes if I don’t stop him. I figured it was because I make meat sauce… but from what I’m hearing maybe he also actually likes the sauce itself.
His other weird favorite is hummus. I found that one out when I was eating it at the coffee table and he jumped up and started licking the container lid. Good thing I was almost done with that container! And every time I eat it he’ll try to get some now.
We used to have a cat that would lurk under the table and then “fish” for brie or other cheeses with a sneaky paw.
I had a marmi Kitty that liked the juice of veggies… Whenever I would open a can of peas, corn, or green beans, she would have to have some of the juice… She also loved tomatoes!! Whenever I was making spaghetti or lasagna from scratch, she’d have to have some of the ‘matoes cut up and put in a bowl for her… I always said she was a vegetarian that came back as a cat…
‘nother sauce eating cat at my house…miss huggums enjoys it with or w/o meat or cheese…but the onions are bad for cats..never seen her eat a noodle though….likes salad dressing too
but I have to say those are very polite kitties compared to miss huggums…
Musicchick2 – I don’t know if my kitteh is german or not, she’s never told me.
Actually all I know about her breed is that she has an ‘m’ on her pretty little forehead.
I can’t believe all you guys letting your cats have tomato sauce. Tomatoes are highly toxic to cats.
I want to sprinkle SNORGLE on mine.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! so cute!! I love it!!!
Everytime we sit down to dinner my cats do this. No matter what we’re eating. they just sit at the table like – hey what’re we havin’ for dinner???? It’s soo cute.
My cats like sketti, infact anything I am eating, they want.
Grey kitteh: “Oooh, p’sketti! May I have extra cheese please! I just love cheese!”
Black kitteh: “Looks good. Hope it isn’t Chef Boy-ar-dee! And hold the cheese, but I’ll have a Pepsi chaser!”
coubotand – I hadn’t read that about tomatoes, but it makes sense. ‘Cause it’s toxic to some peoples too. I have severe arthritis and have to skip tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant. I don’t mind giving up the peppers & eggplant tho.
Maymee – Awww….that’s her Good Catskeeping seal of approval! That’s how you know you have a high quality cat! Actually, have you read this anywhere? http://www.messybeast.com/folktails.htm Read the first little story, called “Cats and gods”
For those interested in reading up on foods and plants that are toxic to cats, I found this: http://cats.about.com/cs/catfood/a/humanfood.htm Turns out coubotand is right about the tomatoes (and they do mention nightshade veggies, so that does include the eggplant, peppers and potatoes I mentioned before). A LOT of houseplants are toxic too…even one of my favorite flowers, lilies. And since my kitties like to check out flowers any time I have them, I guess no more lilies within kitty’s reach!
CUTE picture! I just found a site shipping free samples of healthy dog and cat foods. I’m going to go back and sign up. http://www.trilogyonline.com/Trilogy/Products/ProductList.aspx?realname=10077853&cat=0&hdr=&Ath=False&category=Free_Samples
so cute. i have a cat that does that on a regular basis. of course, his people food of choice is cantaloupe.
I’m so excited my babies made it on here! I didn’t let them actually eat the spaghetti, they are normally just intent on being at my side at all times. Some SERIOUS luvers! I need to get a vid of Gus snorggling because it is EPIC!
Cats and spaghetti, that’s something you don’t see every day
This reminds me of when I was a kid. We were sitting down to a lovely home-cooked dinner of hot dogs (that was sarcasm, my mother is actually the Worst Cook In The World, and I have empirical proof of that!) when the phone rang. I was sitting opposite my Dad, and as he got up to answer it, he said, “Watch my plate”. So I watched it, all right, as Tippy the Cat jumped up on his chair, snuck her head up over the edge of the table, and ever so slowly reached out a paw–all the time watching me watching her–and hooked that hot dog and ran! My Dad was none too pleased, “I told you to watch my dinner” “But I did!”. It was worth it, though.
As for weird tastes, I have seen my Sir Isaac Mewton drink orange juice. Just a little from a saucer, but enough to prove to the disbelievers of the family that I wasn’t lying! He also loooooves mini-marshmellows and will jump like crazy to get them. I have no idea why.
Nosey kittehs! They are like “Smells good, what is it? Me wants some! K?”.
So sashami’s still good for kitties?
Not that I feed mine sushi or anything. Maybe just a taste.
Anyone else see the slightly wall eyes on the black cat? That’s awesome!
coubotand: Milk’s not good for them, either. But why in the world do you have to be such a buzzkill? I’m guessing those cats don’t show any ill effects from the occasional taste of tomato sauce, or their owners wouldn’t keep letting them eat it. You can’t believe they don’t know something as obscure as the toxicity of tomatoes to cats?
My old cat Rose used to eat potato chips whenever she got the chance. People AND cats can eat all kinds of things that aren’t strictly good for them yet survive and enjoy life.
In conclusion, this photo made me LOL at work. It’s cute, it’s funny and it’s a completely believable slice of life as shared by people and their pets, and that’s the kind of CO photo I like best of all.
Given how finicky cats’ stomachs are, and how he’s shown absolutely no effect from his, oh, three drops of sauce (since he’s really eating the meat), I’m not really worried about the tomato thing. It’s not like I’m feeding it to him on purpose, either; sometimes cats climb on the counter and eat something.
And milk isn’t BAD for cats, they’re just usually lactose-intolerant. Lactose-free milk would be absolutely harmless, and even the normal stuff won’t do more than upset their stomach.
Sarah, how is it a buzz kill to provide information about something that may be harmful to cats? I wouldn’t have mentioned it unless I saw a lot of people talking about giving their cats tomato based foods. Even if it doesn’t kill them (although cats have died from eating cherry tomatoes) it might be hard on their liver/kidneys. I don’t see what’s wrong with giving people a little information just in case they didn’t know. I love cats and I don’t want any getting sick because their owners didn’t know any better.
You are the buzzkill for trying to shame me for spreading the word about tomatoes.
Cracking up here…
Thanks for that link musicchick2. My cats are precious to me and I prefer to be educated about they can and can’t eat than to remain willfully ignorant. Anyone who’d think that passing along helpful information to keep cats healthy is spoiling the “fun” is a…well, nevermind.
Just in case anyone was thinking that I’m a bad pet owner my cats get dry cat food, the indoor cat formula. Occasionaly I give them a can of moist cat food as well. They rarely, if ever, get table scraps and they are VERY happy kittens who love me very much so nobody needs to worry about their health or well being. They are loving life.
