Serious Protecksh

How safe are these lil’ guys, growin’ up in styrofoam and leaves and stuff. They could even re-position the pads if they wanted to to make a new living room.

Helmet_sweet_helmet

Henry H. provided the sweet, cheep! apartments for these dewds.

Blong, Amaretto Bunny. Just plain blong.

5 alisa 05.10.07 at 2:51 pm

Aww house finches! I had a couple of these little guys raising babies in a hanging basket on my front porch.

6 ceejoe 05.10.07 at 2:52 pm

awwww, that is so schweeet, that Hennry H let the little birdehs stay there and raise their little family!

7 llism 05.10.07 at 3:04 pm

Teho, did you take down the Amanda-spam? I was just going to comment, but it looks like you beat me to it. Thanks! :-)

House finches and Carolina Wrens will nest in your pockets if you stand still long enough.

9 Theresa 05.10.07 at 3:07 pm

Feenches!

10 Melissa 05.10.07 at 3:18 pm

How sweet! Henry needs a backup helmet. I hope they don’t dive bomb him when he goes by.

11 Emilia 05.10.07 at 3:18 pm

they’re gonna lay some kittens in your noggin cup!

Two in the hat are worth ten in the bush.

13 A thinker 05.10.07 at 3:29 pm

Such clever and adaptable birdies. and I think it’s safe to say the owner either a) hasn’t been biking in some time; or b) doesn’t use that helmet.

14 sweetpea 05.10.07 at 3:33 pm

They are sweet, but I hope they are safe pecking at the styrofoam and all.

15 Rosalynde 05.10.07 at 3:49 pm

Holy beady eye factor!!!!!

16 maymee 05.10.07 at 3:50 pm

Think anyone will ever weat that helmet again?
Methinks not.

17 Theo 05.10.07 at 4:02 pm

Llism — *no* idea what you’re talking about.
;)

18 Sweet Pea 05.10.07 at 4:18 pm

Those birds must be New Yorkers!
With housing being so pricey now helmets are a new residence option.
What’s the square footage on that?

19 Gal Josefsberg 05.10.07 at 4:49 pm

Sorry officer, I know helmets are required by law but you see, these pigeons decided to nest in my helmet. No really! There’s a picture of it on Cute Overload!!!

I’ve been standing still for hours, but nothing like this happened to me! I want pocket finches!

22 jen 05.10.07 at 5:35 pm

cute. smart little birdies.

23 Kritter 05.10.07 at 5:55 pm

All I can think is “poop in the helmet”.

24 Merriwyth Calliope 05.10.07 at 5:57 pm

That’s about all I can afford for my first house, too.

A thinker:

I think the helmet pwner isn’t going to be using it much in the future, either….

27 Robbie 05.10.07 at 8:44 pm

We have hummingbirds nesting in a hanging basket on our patio for the second time this spring! We need to put up a “Hummer Maternity Ward” sign or something.

I wonder if I should put out a bike helmet for them?

28 funkyb0ss 05.10.07 at 9:51 pm

SOMEbody hasn’t been out riding the ol’ bike enough lately

29 Shannon Johnson 05.10.07 at 10:21 pm

Ok, whoever did that for the birdies, were very nice. Thank you for providing a very nice and cozy home for them(even if you didn’t mean to, i think they appreciate it)*HEE HEE*

30 Arvay 05.10.07 at 11:18 pm

How cute! :)

31 Cynthia Blue 05.11.07 at 2:36 am

Oh my that is just completely cute. I hope those birds are okay. :)

32 Florida 05.11.07 at 5:17 am

We used to have mourning doves nesting in our garage all the time … silly birds. Once they built a very precariously balanced nest on top of the chain/gears of a bike that was hanging upside down!

33 lil_cutey 05.11.07 at 6:09 am

aawwwwwww! What a nice place to have a nest! I wonder if it’s comfy! They sure are some smart birds!

34 acelightning 05.11.07 at 7:57 am

Well, the padded liner is certainly a lot more comfortable than a nest built out of sticks and twigs and stuff – I mean, which would *you* rather sleep on?

35 Kimberly 05.11.07 at 12:48 pm

My lazy behind hasn’t gotten on my bike in months. Perhaps I should hang my helmet outside and let some birds nest – at least that way my equipment will be getting SOME use.

36 little miao 05.11.07 at 5:06 pm

How precious! those little birdies are very practical.

37 Genevieve 05.12.07 at 6:20 am

Dear Human Owner of the Helmet,

Please let the birdies have it. They are just too cute.
