*Pepé le Pew voice*
It looks like a bebe skunk. ;O
I don’t know what that is but it looks so cute. I want to snorgle it right now.
I think Knitten is a great name for it. So adorable.

I thinks it’s a little stinker a bebeh skunky
*goes to build another squee proof room* Wait! I’m at home I can squee all I want.
oh wait again, the ‘lil one in sleeping . . .
*whispers* squeee!
I think we’ve all agreed that it’s a knitten. Now we have to find out what weave it is.
The blankie the knitten is on isn’t just a straight knitting stitch, and knitten certainly isn’t your basic yarn!
LOL Lurkertype!!
The knitten’s so cute, everybody is stuttering and repeating themselves!!

At first I thought “baby skunk” because of the whitish strip on the head, then I googled “baby skunk.”
Definitely a ‘knitten’!
Oh, and if CuteOverload just isn’t enough cute for the moment… google “baby skunk” yourself and check out those images!
Amanda — I think you may have something there.
btw… it looks like one of our sister sites across the pond agrees with you:

I have a crush-ay on this knitten!
Clearly this critter should have its own trading card!
Wiggity wiggity woo!
Ponies!
I am speechless!
oh NOW you’re just baiting me.
(Tor.)
I think it’s a baby skunk!! Snorgle the skunk!! MMMMMMMM
I’m glad Meg was asking questions with this one. No decisions yet – one doesn’t want to make any blanket statements.
Man, between this and the puppy om the last post, I think I’m doing into Cute Overdose. ^_^
BTW, maybe one day we could have baby animals day? Nothing but puppies and kitties and baby hedges and chicks and baby dckies and little sharks…
/yes, little sharks. I think they’re cute, ok?
It’s a young platypus.
Wha? Huh? It’s CUTE!
Whatever it is…it is cute!! All babies are cute!! (Ala “Raising Arizona”..my favorite movie!)
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!
Again with the extreme cuteness!!
What is this, ratings week??!
Sooooooo cute!!!!!!
Is this an af-cat?
(Is that too far removed from afgan … afgat … afcat?)
cute kitten! but OMGWTFBBQ go here: http://www.awrc.org/skunks.htm
behbeh skunk who fits in your hand!!!!1!1!!!
AWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
*kisses the top of the leetle head*
As the owner of a Corgi-Chihuahua mix (who is by all objective measurements the world´s cutest animal ever as I´m sure we can all agree), I take exception to Rule #15. I propose an amendment to the effect that the key to cuteness is the disproportion in size of head and ears.
C´mon bunny owners and Ross Perot fans, back me up on this one here.
Just to clarify my above post: my dog is the cutest animal ever. I myself am nothing special.
Aren’t baby skunks also called kittens? So he can still be a knitten, just a smellier one…
I think it looks like inoshishi. The kind of wild pig that lives in Japan that is so cute as a baby!
He’s not just the president of Fur Club for Kittehs: he’s also a client!
OMGorgonzola, my mother sends me hundreds of ridiculous afghans that she crochets, I am up to my neck in them- I never thought to check them for infestations of babeh aminals…be right back,,,
Looks like the rare species of Popcorn Kitteh. They are usually found snorgling peacefully in a bed of popcorn, or in this case, resembling popcorn. Either way, they always smell totally delicious!
What ees eet?!! What ees eet???!!
definately not a baby skunk. they have pointy nosticles like little hedgies. this wittle kitteh will grow and its ears will get bigger and if not we will have adorable ear to head ratio cuteness!!
When I fist saw this, I thought it was a baby porcupine!
http://www.porcupine.org/porcupine/mister_porky.jpg
Lots more ittehbittehkittehs where this one came from – the photographer is a Humane Society volunteer, so she gets plenty of kitteh photo opps, spesh’ly the li’l teeny just-been-born kind.
BTW, the rest of her work is incredible too…………..
OMG It’s a tribble with a face!
Total cuteness!
DEAREST ME! That cat is suffocating in that blanket. That is torture. Shame on the person who took this photo.
Isn’t this also the rule about if an everyday item makes you look small, it’s cute? Look at the size of that knit next to the lil baby!
I have to agree with Dale about rule #15 and bunnies.
I also think that this little creature is adorable, and even more adorable due to being surrounded by yellow fluff.
It’s a knitten, not a skunk and definitely not a platypus (no tiny skunk noisicle and no platybill). Knittens are *very* closely related to kittens- they’re both felidae. Look at the perfect feline nose and eye-slits for proof.
Does it really matter what the little darlin is – it’s little cute and defenceless it needs love – so do we all
Oh wow, I’m so honoured this pic made it to cute overload! And thank you all for the fond comments for this cutie.
I just wanted to respond to the comment by Halls. This little kitten was not suffocating by any means. We wrap them up while we feed them to keep them warm. This kitty merely went back to sleep after being fed. The volunteers at The Humane Society shower the kittens with much love and attention and would not dream of hurting or torturing them by any means. Rest assure that no animals were injured in the production of my photos.
I wanted to add another shameless plug… if ever anyone has any afghans/soft towels/plush toys that they no longer want, think about donating them to your local humane society. The kittens can always use them.
We go through 1 towel for each kitten we feed at 1 sitting, (they eat 4 times a day)… that’s a lot of towels that we require.
Plush toys also keep them company while they are in their cages. Little balls are fun for them too.
On behalf of kittens who may benefit from this shameless plug, thank you!
I don’t know what the heck it is, but who really cares when it’s THAT CUTE?!!
I love that little kitten/ raccoon/knitten/racckootten
Or what ever it may be..? x
I think its a baby hog. Just look at the snout. That’s all I have to say.
i think eab’s right. i mean, come on, just look at it.
prettiest ever
