Sad and pleading eyebrows! How can anyone resist? :D

2 Subhangi 04.15.07 at 5:41 pm

SQUEEEEEE!

*scoops up puppy and takes him in*

3 Christine Hughes 04.15.07 at 5:42 pm

Aww, the dog is so terribly sad and deprived of food! (Bleen?)

4 Kate 04.15.07 at 5:44 pm

And will someone *PLEASE* now explain what “bleen” is?

Pretty please? With pudding on?

5 Kirstin 04.15.07 at 5:44 pm

His eyes look all weepy! <3

6 Tara W 04.15.07 at 5:47 pm

Oh the poor thing! Starving right to death. I doubt he’s seen food in WEEKS! Ask him… it’s been absolutely FOREVER!

Thems are some giant feetsies. Will he be growing into them yet?

7 cassandra 04.15.07 at 5:59 pm

awww, I lurve the little puppy. Someone feed him, this guy needs milkbones stat!

8 La Cot 04.15.07 at 6:08 pm

Puppy eyes…muzzlepuff…Mr. Giant Paws McDishersons, you must be an expert at melting your people’s hearts! While you wait, I have some steak in the fridge, how would you like yours cooked?

9 jen 04.15.07 at 6:14 pm

do you think he’s trying to tell us something?

10 Rosie 04.15.07 at 6:24 pm

Puh-puh-puh-puh-leeeeeeaze????

11 pjk 04.15.07 at 6:27 pm

Kate, I’m with you there. I think I’ve figured out most of the “CO special language” but bleen still has me stumped! Our dog Ralph would do the dish thing too, but mostly it was to move it so he could keep his eye on it at all times!

12 mandykw 04.15.07 at 6:34 pm

his eyes say pleeeease oh pleeeese, FEED ME!

13 Celia 04.15.07 at 6:56 pm

He looks so sad!!!

14 paula 04.15.07 at 6:58 pm

Somebody feed that dog, will ya? That is the same face my dog gives me 10 minutes after he’s eaten. He’s wonderful at making me feel like the meanest mommy in the world and like I never feed him! Awww, poor Pups McPuperson…hang in there. Suppertime’s a-comin!

15 cheryl 04.15.07 at 7:04 pm

what? you said bring a dish! come on, open up the door.

16 musicchick2 04.15.07 at 7:32 pm

This is SO precious! And he has the “I’m SO starved!! Oh puh-LEEZE take pity on me!” look nailed. Hilarious!

S’ok….You guyses know that Theo gets all kinds of persnickety about us all jumping up and down and typing “First??!!” when a new post goes up & has no comments yet? K…well, it seems like “bleen” has become a synonym for “First??!!” as well as a term of annoyance re the first post thing.

Does that make sense, class? *looks around the room at class with “baroo?” looks on their faces*

17 nutmeg 04.15.07 at 7:56 pm

Please suh, I wont some mo’….

18 Margaret 04.15.07 at 8:27 pm

nutmeg stole the words from my fingers.

poor little Oliver dog.

19 luckycliff 04.15.07 at 8:36 pm

this is def a “Cute or Sad?” Category WINNER!!!

20 lisa-marie 04.15.07 at 8:41 pm

Ohh! He’s so cute!!

21 Jade 04.15.07 at 8:41 pm

Eyebrows muzzle puff AND worry lines!? We have no possible deffence against this full scale cuteness.

22 Karebear 04.15.07 at 10:26 pm

SO SAD…
thing is, I bet he just finished emptying that bowl lol.

I too have been confused about the bleen, and asked and got no answers.
So I looked it up on urbandictionary.com.
It appears to be the number between 6 and 7.
Which is confusing me more, how does that relate to cuteoverload?
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bleen

23 fawn lust 04.15.07 at 10:51 pm

cute or sad! i love this pup! *hands clasped over heart*

24 Yubi Shines 04.15.07 at 11:10 pm

Oh, hey, it’s Oliver Twist.

25 Arvay 04.16.07 at 12:03 am

Awwww! :)

26 D.O.G. 04.16.07 at 12:11 am

Pooch says: “Is anybody home? Don’t forget about me. It’s past my dinner time and my tummy is a-rumbly. Please?” heheeheh

27 Shannon Johnson 04.16.07 at 12:11 am

This reminds me of my fiance’s dog, Rocky. He does that same exact thing. He picks up his bowl, and looks at you the same exact way.

28 CynthiaM 04.16.07 at 1:09 am

poor starving baby **brings him/her in, feeds it some pup chow**

29 musicchick2 04.16.07 at 1:11 am

Karenbear, I’ve never heard those definitions of bleen. They really don’t apply here at least. Maybe we can get Mr. Theo to define?

30 BJ 04.16.07 at 1:24 am

I like cheryl’s alternative caption. I would add: You invited me to brunch, and you said bring a dish…

31 musicchick2 04.16.07 at 1:25 am

Karenbear: Apparently George Carlin first used the word. http://www.answers.com/topic/bleen

32 soxfan 04.16.07 at 1:35 am

Dogs are great at convincing their people that they’re about to just waste away to nuffing, right in front of your eyes, if they don’t get somfing to eat. They’re absolutely starvacious and might even faint from hunger.

Aw, poor starving puppy, c’mere, I’ll fix you some snackies!

33 Peg of Tilling 04.16.07 at 2:35 am

No, Puppy, I am impervious to your sad-clown eyes and cleverly draped muzzlepuff–impervious, I tell y…oh, fine. Biscuits with your eggs? Parsley garnish?

34 redhed 04.16.07 at 2:56 am

that’s the sweetest, saddest, most pathetically adorable thing I’ve ever seen. c’est tout.

35 musicchick2 04.16.07 at 2:56 am

Peg….LOL! Such a softie! (I’m sure I’d do the same thing. Who could resist those EYES!)

36 Sue 04.16.07 at 3:24 am

too slow!!!!

37 lurkertype 04.16.07 at 3:47 am

Puppeh is STARVED!!!

Not really, but I’d give puppeh whatever he wanted to eat. He is workin’ those eyes.

38 wolfwhocriedboy 04.16.07 at 4:06 am

If my behbeh was big enouff to life her bowl, y’BET she’d use this UBER-CUTE tactic.

This is exactly why there are SO many obese pets out there.

BE STRONG PEEPS – you’re working against the very core of evolutionary training but your pets need ya to be strong! ;) g

39 Yvette 04.16.07 at 4:32 am

We had a brown Lab when I was a teenager. Dad would make a sandwich for lunch, go out to the lawnchairs on the patio, and TRY to eat his whole sandwich.

With every bite he took, Caesar’s (the dog’s, natch) eyes would look more worried, his ears would droop ever lower, until finally only one bite was left … Dad NEVER finished his own sandwich, in the seven years that Caesar knew what a sandwich was (food!). All crying-eyes, straight-down-drooping ear flaps, blubbering lips (I swear, he looked like he was getting ready to sob)… too much to bear!

40 leah 04.16.07 at 4:32 am

I have a retreiver and thank goodness he never picks up his dish, for two reasons its got food in it,, he will not eat it without cereal. # 2 he clock his favorite cat Henry And that knnock him out. Mc Muzzlepouch will not only not starve because of his good looks but because we also need to grow into those feets. rumff is that a bark sounds like with bowl in your mouth???

41 Lomie 04.16.07 at 9:47 am

KISSES THE DOG

poor bratty baby cutenesssssssssssssssssss

pout

42 Alice Shortcake 04.16.07 at 10:29 am

I love the way dogs drop “gentle hints” like this. And the way they suck in thier stomachs to achieve that abused-and-starving look.

43 anner 04.16.07 at 12:42 pm

Happy Hollandaise, puppeh!

44 TFMS 04.16.07 at 12:48 pm

Have bowl, will travel. (towards da food)

45 ceejoe 04.16.07 at 1:20 pm

*luf* da eyebrow action…
doggie eyebrows crack me up every time!

46 pyrit 04.16.07 at 1:32 pm

Pup is obviously trying to bowl us over.

47 lindr 04.16.07 at 1:34 pm

My cats try to convince me they’re starving, too. Only they take it one step farther. When I ignore them and don’t give them treats, they try to trip me – so they can gnaw on me as I lay there helpless, I’m sure!

48 Yitzysmommie 04.16.07 at 1:58 pm

Too adorable! I love everything about it – including the unspoken Baroo?
Yitzy the cat tells me it’s dinner time by meowing loudly & insistently as I am feeding Lucy the diabetic doggie – “Feed ME TOO, Mom – NOW!!”

49 Theresa 04.16.07 at 2:15 pm

O the Furrowed Brow!

50 Theresa 04.16.07 at 2:17 pm

PS Also velvety earflops!

51 kb 04.16.07 at 2:22 pm

I think you mean “brooonche” :-)

52 Eastie 04.16.07 at 2:38 pm

Oh my. I just want to hug him!

53 cutebabyfix.com 04.16.07 at 2:48 pm

My Corgi gives me this look after he gets caught eating out of the garbage can, but mommmm, I was starvin… And we even feed him the totally gross BARF diet!

54 kk3 04.16.07 at 2:59 pm

My friend’s cat was on a much needed diet. Chloe (kitty) hated it and would grab the bottom of the pantry door (which held her food) with her paw and rattle the door like crazy in protest! Pathetically hysterical.

55 jaypo 04.16.07 at 3:02 pm

BLEEN–
I think of bleen as being an expression of boredom or ambiguity. The human BAROO if you will. But that’s just me. You’re welcome to disagree. Bleen.

56 Theo 04.16.07 at 3:08 pm

Jaypo — neither right nor wrong. Ain’t it grand?
;)

57 Gal josefsberg 04.16.07 at 3:12 pm

We have a Boxer who does this same sort of face when he sees us eating. He manages to look incredibly sad until we turn to him with a piece of food and then he completely spoils the act by getting all happy and wagging his little tail nub.

Got to love dogs!

58 Aunty-G 04.16.07 at 3:31 pm

I usta have a part beagle part pointer who would sit just within our eyesight at super and drool. Big eyes and long drools down her chest but never moved or said a word, just made sure we could see her.

RE: Bleen see “first” in the Co glossary

59 ka9q's wife 04.16.07 at 3:33 pm

My god has not mastered this variety of begging. She instead is a jumper and snatcher. Especially at outdoor restaurants where once she scored part of a bacon cheese omlette. Sigh. I have to make her lie down then keep my foot on her lead when i eat now.

I love the outdoor restaurants where they bring her treats and water.

60 Pheas 04.16.07 at 3:35 pm

There’s no plate like chrome for the Hollandaise….

61 Theo 04.16.07 at 3:35 pm

Aunty-G — here, let me help with that…
http://www.squidgrid.com/cute/Glossary.htm#FP

There ya go.

62 Theo 04.16.07 at 3:37 pm

PHEAS!
LOLOLOLOL!!!
[gasp]
+5 KARMA PUDDINS FOR TEH PUNDIT OMG OMG OMG!!
[more LOL]
I can’t even speak English, lawdy lawdy…

63 leah 04.16.07 at 3:45 pm

theo,

you make me laugh, what is a karma puddin or should I ask that question.

64 shanchan 04.16.07 at 3:45 pm

Pheas wins the internets!!

65 Aunty-G 04.16.07 at 3:52 pm

Teho, tu. I also like
http://www.squidgrid.com/cute/Glossary.htm#huh?

Pheas: groan

66 Mary 04.16.07 at 4:20 pm

OMG Pheas made me LOL. The wonderful puppeh made me smile and think of all friend’s dogs who do variations of this.. pick up bowl and carry all over the house looking for someone who might fall for it and put something in .. dogs who sit and try the “I’m starving.. really ….” act even though they’re not.

But Pheas made me LOL. Good one!!

67 musicchick2 04.16.07 at 4:56 pm

As a personal favor to me, Theo has reluctantly answered my “bleen” question ONE. MORE. TIME. But I guess theese ees eet, people…..he no eees answerink thees questchon anyeee more!

“Peeps — I’ll say this ONCE: In the context of Cute Overload, “Bleen” has NO real meaning of its own. If you are/were a fan of the old TV show M*A*S*H, it’s like the “B. J.” in B. J. Hunnicutt. What’s it stand for? …anything you like!

[/bleen]

68 Yitzysmommie 04.16.07 at 5:06 pm

Oh Pheas, YOU DOG!!! I do NOT like snorting koffee on my work keyboard. Naughty, naughty Pheas, said with loud giggles and snorts.

69 Theo 04.16.07 at 5:20 pm

Leah — re: “karma puddin” — um, not sure… brain was short-circuited at the time… I think I just meant “LOLOLOLOL!!! [gasp] +5 KARMA PUDDINS FOR TEH PUNDIT OMG OMG OMG!! [more LOL]“

…dammit, there it goes *again*

[sigh] Maybe these things are only meant to be felt at the gut level, rather than intellectually understood.

70 AuntieMame 04.16.07 at 5:24 pm

Hope springs eternal!

(LOL, Pheas!)

I’m dogsitting this week, and I fed them last night before I went to the soccer game, but they obviously hoped I’d developed amnesia while I was out because when I got home last night they stationed themselves by their food bowls expecting another supper.

Pfft. No! Have you ever gotten supper twice in one day? I don’t think so…

71 jaypo 04.16.07 at 5:27 pm

lmao @ Pheas!! Can’t we bronze it and put over the CO office fireplace?!

72 luvinmalssomuch 04.16.07 at 5:58 pm

I could not resist this pooch. How adorablely cute.

73 zoid 04.16.07 at 7:19 pm

This reminds me of Oliver Twist — “More Please”

74 luvinmalssomuch 04.16.07 at 8:51 pm

Is this poor pooch still waiting to be fed. GOOD GOD MAN feed this dog.

75 Jennifer 04.16.07 at 10:16 pm

My lab gives me the same look. They are so miss treated.

76 Theresa 04.16.07 at 10:29 pm

I always thought you have bleens with sour cream.

77 lauren 04.16.07 at 11:17 pm

I have a brown lab puppy with giant feet, though thanks to her daddy she’s already the size of a pony. I swear, labradors have perfected worrying, fretting, and pleading.

When that brow goes to work and the nose starts dripping…

79 Dog lover 04.17.07 at 12:36 am

He’s all like, “Pweeze?? I’m hungwee!!” Sooooooooooooo cute!!

80 Zach 04.17.07 at 12:37 am

Between the lips and ears there is enough meat there for a deli sandwich.

81 ka9q's wife 04.17.07 at 3:13 am

lmao i just reread my post earlier and realized i wrote god and not dog. My Dog people.

oh lordy do you think that is a freudian slip?

82 becca 04.17.07 at 11:28 am

oh, WHERE are my milkbones? I want to give some to him!!!!
he knows the power of the sad eyes!

83 gwenchocolate 04.17.07 at 2:17 pm

Puppy is a deadly assassin. He kill me with teh cute starvelation.

84 ThreeCatNight 04.17.07 at 5:28 pm

Oh, those sad liquid eyes. Pleading, working on your conscience. Stop! I give in!

85 sop832 04.17.07 at 6:03 pm

My golden retriever/lab mix Sophie couldn’t carry her bowl, but she was a past master at the art of using a subliminal “eye-roll” She would make a noise to make sure we were looking, then, without moving her head, look at our plates and quickly back at me, like “gimme that, gimme that”

86 KatieK 04.17.07 at 10:28 pm

Squeeeee!!!

That has got to be the most adorable poocher I have ever seen!! <3 I luf the muzzlepuff and the eyes! awwww!! <333 Now it's making me miss my chocolate lab Molly (also has the adorable muzzlepuff-eye combo who is at home whilst I'm away at school) who does this type of begging, but with her toys in her mouth instead.

87 Anne 04.18.07 at 2:56 am

I love the way the front paws are positioned! Its so cute! Also love the pouchy mouth!

88 Annie 04.18.07 at 4:45 am

I am in love, I want to rub the belly!!!!

89 Annie 04.18.07 at 4:46 am

I am in love, I want to feed the belly!!!!

90 Bob 04.19.07 at 2:57 am

I think ‘bleen’ is a one-word koan.

91 Theo 04.19.07 at 7:24 pm

I do believe this Bob has achieved a higher plane of transcendence.

92 Moon 05.06.07 at 3:08 am
