This is like, soooo convenient

I weesh that I could be carried around like this… I look good in Giraffe too. And, I heart leg holes.

Carrier

Nice find, Amoise. Now—WHO sells these?! will the real retailer please stand up!?

// UPDATE — they stood up!  PuppyPurse can be found here. //

Comments

  1. Tres chic!

  2. hmmm… Now there is something you don’t see everyday.

  3. That is just too darn cute!

  4. Do they sell them for Golden Retrievers?

  5. hi!
you can purchase a Puppy Purse at-

    http://www.puppypurse.com/shop.html

  6. Holy cow! Or holy pup!

You can buy these online or even in some stores???

This needs to be the Next Big Thing.

    (also, belated beleen)

  7. SQUTE!!!

  8. luvinmalssomuch says:

Sell them for golden retrievers thats funny.
No but I do think they sell them for St. Bernards in passion purple.

  9. *sprays diet coke all over the screen*

My schnauzer girl NEEEEEEEDS one of these. Especially when it rains – she doesn’t like to get her dainty widdle paws wet.

  10. SO cute! I wonder if they make ‘em for cats? Hmmm… on second thought, maybe not, ;-)

  11. Christine says:

I am guilty of past nuffinghamery, and I don’t intend this to be such…but while cute this does make me a little sad. Not indignant, upset, judgemental, mind you. I know that pet is pampered to a T. I just don’t really like the pet-as-accessory trend.

On a lighter note, that third photo kind of looks like a hostess cupcake. Like, the strap is the frosting….

  12. YAY! for PuppyPurses!!

  13. Yeah, I’m on the fence about this. I like that people love their pets and want to have them with them all the time, and toting your pup around in a bag I think is sweet in it’s own way, but *this* seems a little overboard. It does seem like the dog is turned into an accesory. Also, it doesn’t look very comforatable for the dog. :(

  14. It’s The Purse That Poops™! Who doesn’t need one?

(Christine — I totally see the cupcake thing.)

  15. OneEyedDaruma says:

    oh no they di’int

  16. Christine says:

Purse That Poops! That made me laugh harder than anything today, and I spent a good deal of time looking at the Peeps dioramas on wapo.com.

    Now I want a cupcake.

  17. PS… yeah. Let’s see ‘em try to fit one of these on a CAT.

  18. Hostess Cupcake was the first thing I though when I saw the third picture!

While I agree that using your pup as an accessory is not good, I disagree that everyoe who would use this product would be thinking along those lines.I know my chihuahua would love this because although she loves riding in my purse when I go places, the transition from ground to purse scares her a little, so this would be the perfect way to avoid that. Plus, it makes for easy grabbing in dangerous situations. I don’t know if I like the idea of the shoulder strap, but she’s so fast that I would LOVE to have some handles.

  19. The “ground to purse transition” comment made it sound like she doesn’t like to be picked up, but I meant that she gets a little scared when I have to put her into the purse because she’s not sure if it has a bottom….or something

  20. My dog would hate that. Then again, my dog weighs 60 pounds, so I guess it’s moot anyway.

I like how it looks like she’s wearing a giraffe costume! If giraffes had handles and zig-zag trim, that is.

  21. I bought something similar for my mom’s Yorkie Toy, except it’s more of a backpack kinda purse… with leg holes!

  22. Can’t they just breed handles into the dogs? That would be so convenient.

Seriously though, I don’t see it as a “pet as accessory” issue, since obviously the prints on them are more for making the animal cuter than for making the person cuter. I for one would be quite hesitant to accessorize myself with giraffe print, but accessorizing a pet with it is more endearing and less tacky.

If this is from puppypurse.com, then it’s one of the cuter ones they have.

  23. Laurie C says:

I’m on the Hostess Cupcake bandwagon, too. Or is that “Pupcake”?

  24. The Purse that Poops!
Oh, Teho, you are a marketing genius.

As for Shrill: “Do they sell them for Golden Retrievers?”

Why do you ask? Looking to herniate yourself?

  25. Do they have one for giraffes that looks like Bishon Frize (sp?) skin?

  26. This is so freaking funny…
For those who aren’t fans of the giraffe-print, the puppy purse is also available in leopard, cow, camouflage and something leather that looks suspiciously like doggie-dominatrix…
    LOL!

  27. spongebrooke says:

I’m one of those ‘they have legs, they can walk too’ type of people. I’m just not a fan of strapping a dog across my shoulder. I have a bad back anyway and that would just murder it. BUT I do love that giraffe print and it would make a cute regular little sweater deal.

  28. eikoleigh says:

OMG, I actually saw a woman carrying her little dog in one of these about a month ago. Hey, I live in LA, I see all kinds of odd things.

It was funny because I thought the dog was fake until it turned and looked at me. I totally jumped – haha.

  29. I suppose this is a decent evolution of carrying your dog in a purse. Really though this is just pointless and futile. As mentioned a dog has legs and can walk. This also puts the full weight of the dog on its underside, which for very small dogs may be ok but for the dog pictured or larger Im pretty sure itd be uncomfortable. Not to mention the potential chaffing of the hair/openings on the dog. Plus who wants to carry 10-15lbs on their shoulder for any length of time. :S
    Duh.

  30. LOL – If I tried to use something like that on my lil’ 9-pounder she’d kill me in my sleep. She’s got a tough rep’ to protect. ;) Besides, she actually likes to be a DOG, that actually WALKS. :p

  31. While this would be perfect for yanking my Jack Russell out of trouble (MUST she bite the snarf of the biggest dog she can find?) she’d find a way to trip herself on the handles, then take it off and eat it. My cat on the other hand, might actually dig it.

  32. Maybe belongs in the Cute or Sad? category. It’s definitely cute, and I wondered for a moment if I could stuff my cat into one of those contraptions. But, it also reminds me that people still view animals as chattel or, in this case, stylish accessories.

  33. One of my friends lives onna farm, and she told me about how they are breeding cows smaller and smaller… well she is holding out for a minicow for her purse. That would really be the purse that poos. (And moos…)

  34. chelonianmobile says:

Kinda cute, but please tell me there’s a hole in the back in the appropriate place. Could be messy otherwise.

  35. #1. That look JUST LIKE MY DOG, except my dog has a half pink nose.

#2. My dog would love that. LOVE IT.

  36. It’s called a PuppyPurse. See http://www.puppypurse.com for more. I’m not affiliated with the company, but they advertise in the magazine I work for (a pet industry trade magazine). I haven’t seen this fabric pattern, though. It must be new.

  37. Heto: “PS… yeah. Let’s see ‘em try to fit one of these on a CAT.”

    A Pursey-Cat?

  38. Theo, you don’t think Bounce or Kenya would go for it? Not even if you told them how FAHB-YOO-LOUS they’d look?

Pooh & Tipper would DEFINITELY not approve. Pooh’s 17 lbs! I would not approve either! *rubs shoulder*

  39. hi….my earlier comment was because I was just wondering because Goldens are lazy :)

  40. Shannon Johnson says:

Now that is a great Idea! I can get one for my mom so she can carry her little dog around.

  41. I actually think this is cruel. I mean who the heck wants to be carried like a purse! It can’t be comfortable!!

  42. Unhealthy to forgo walking, but “cruel” is a bit of a stretch. When my childhood dog was elderly, we carried her around in a basket, long before tiny dogs became used as fashion accessories.

Gee, I wonder if they make one in newfie size! WAHAHAHAhahahaha!!!

They might, but they’d also have to sell you a bulldozer to carry it around with…

  44. I bet Paris Hilton’s doggy has this in Giraffe, Zebra, Leopard and more. It is very cute though!

  45. Tiny cows? Wha?? I haven’t heard about that. I must check it out. The tiniest cows on the family’s farm are Jerseys. They only come up halfway to the Holsteins and Brown Swiss. I’d love a li’l cow to keep me from getting too homesick.

  46. I believe my small rat terrier, Baby, was abducted during the night last spring because she was mistaken for a tiny cow. ( see http://www.cowabduction.com/ )

She disappeared from the kitchen at midnight and was returned 3 hours later crying, shaking and desperately scratching outside the front door. She claims she was taken up in a round, blinky airplane by Children But Not Children (CBNC’s) (her description) and that they created a big thunderstorm to cover up the noise when they flew away. She’s been terrified of thunderstorms and CBNC’s ever since.

  47. Christine Hughes says:

Oh my gosh, they have leather PuppyPurses and matching halter tops for the owners? This is ridiculously funny.

(Plus, the little fluffy dog is SO CUTE!!)

  48. My dog would love this. However, she’s 20lbs so it ain’t happening. :D

To the nuffs…dogs should walk, yes. But when you have a small dog and are socializing that dog by taking him/her many public places it becomes safer, in certain situations, for the dog to be carried in some way.

  49. another vote for visions of hostess cupcakes. i wonder if the company makes a dark brown pup carrier to enhance the effect.

  50. R. Moore says:

    Where’s the cream filling?

  51. R. Moore says:

Also, we had a puppy carrier that was much like a baby bjorn for small dogs. We used it to take our dog shopping in non-food stores. The salesladies LOVED it.

  52. Christine says:

I hopped on just to make the cupcake comment, but I see another Christine beat me to it! Bravo! And kudos on the email address!

  53. The latest creation from the House of Coco Ken-nel.

  54. spikedcolor says:

    1st: That’s really cute!

2nd: I think it would be uncomfortable if used for any significant period of time.

  55. acelightning says:

FWIW, my local PetSmart sells strollers for pets. I don’t have a dog – I don’t even *like* dogs very much – but I’m in the “they’ve got legs, let them walk” camp. And if I tried to take my cat out in a stroller, he’d probably manage to get out of it :-(

  56. disgusting dogs are intelligent loyal loving animals not bags – idiots!

  57. Am I the only one who believes that a dog is NOT a purse? This is so offensive. I think people who do this should be shoved into a 3×3 box with a handle and moved around by a forklift. Idiots.

  58. Jenni :) says:

My sis showed me this at this other site

They have the most crazy stuff!!!! Like tuxedos for dogs and pants and stuff. Crazy what people will buy for there dogs!

  59. Persephone says:

meh. Different dogs like different things. Certainly a lot of animals get comfort from being close to their owner — my late 30-pound cocker spaniel always wanted to be carried when she went to the vet’s office, for instance. Oof.

And of course dogs aren’t fashion accesories! That’s what cute boyfriends are for. ;)

  60. Courtney says:

I would like to see this purse in use. Do the legs just hang there? I picture the dog going “Ehn! Ehn!” and waving its paws if it sees something good to chase.

  61. Nocturnius says:

I actually saw someone with a Pomerianian doing this. I was at a specialty pup boutique with my sister.
I’m sure all dogs are different, but this one LOVED it. It was just plain pink, but when her owner took it out, she was ALL excited. Jumping up, wagging her tail, everything. And then when she put her in it, she just hung there, completely content. And in about five minutes she was sound asleep.
She definitely wasn’t being used as a fashion accessory – the woman totes her around in a puppy stroller most of the time – but I’m sorry, I have to say that if the dog enjoys it as much as this one did, I don’t see the big deal.

  62. yeah, let’s find an even easier way for people to act like paris hilton and turn living, breathing, feeling little beings into accessories. i don’t find this cute at all. if you really want to carry a pet with you there are much better ways. they aren’t as ‘cute’ but shouldn’t the pup’s comfort come first? that has to put a lot of pressure on their tummies and that can’t be comfy for them. imagine how you’d feel being toted around in something like that.

  63. Firechan says:

I think this is cute, a little weird but cute. Seriously, if you live in a large area, it can be dangerous for a small dog (shuch as a Chihuahua) to run around if you’re out walking or shopping unless it’s in a doggie park or a secluded area. Lots of people like to stomp on little paws. :/ sad but true.

  64. michelle says:

I actually OWN one of these in fleece camo – so soft! Though I rarely have a chance to use it – it just takes too long to put it on him.
FWIW, the straps turn into a leash, so he CAN walk when it’s appropriate – but when I use it, it is at times when I know I will need to carry him a lot, and might need my hands free at some point.
Small dogs are different than big dogs. Most of them *love* to be up off the ground, held, and close to their owner. They are not as interested, and it’s not as safe for them to run around (as it has been pointed out!)
My pup is not an accessory, he is my sidekick. He would much rather be with me than at home alone. He keeps me company. He is a Cute Overload all on his own!

  65. I have something similar for my pomeranian. Yes, the legs just hang there. It takes the pup a while to get used to hanging like that. My dog love her tote, not so crazy about this carrier. I can post where I bought mine from (not sure if anyone already posted where to buy).

I was wondering if these would work for cats, in an emergency.

Except that one person said it took a while to get her dog into it.

So probably the house would burn down before I could pack four cats.

Besides, they say they will kill me if I bring one home.

  73. (13-year-old girl) OMG that like totally just made me lol!!! (/13-year-old girl)
    I wants one. =D

  74. I need one in camoflague-print for my dad’s Dachs :D Then they could go hunting in style!

  75. Weird, but cute… i don’t know what to think!

Our little dogglies are gonna get fat if we don’t let them walk!!!

    on another note…
Teho, You had me rolling with “the purse that poops” :)
