That’s a dizzy *hamster*, right? [wiping eyes]

2 A thinker 03.08.07 at 4:13 pm

LOL! That is one determined hammie.

3 paula 03.08.07 at 4:16 pm

OMG! I thought I was the only one to do the happy dance over cookies!!! Too moishe!

4 Golden 03.08.07 at 4:17 pm

I wanted to see him finally get a cookie! There must be Massive Cookie Effort part 2!

5 shanchan 03.08.07 at 4:17 pm

I… will…. never… let… go… EHN!

6 sydney 03.08.07 at 4:18 pm

HAHAHAHAHA! OMGosh that is one silly hammie. I bet he got so dizzy he forgot about eating a cookie.

7 ask-god-a-question.com 03.08.07 at 4:18 pm

There are two things in the world worth struggling for: freedom, and animal cookies.

8 useta hada kitteh 03.08.07 at 4:18 pm

I dunno if the hammie’s dizzy, but I sure am! Notice that he reversed directions at one point. When I was a kid, we did that, supposedly to counteract the dizzyness from spinning around in one direction too long. Didn’t seem to work in hammie’s case — sent him right over on his little back! (Boy, those paws were a scramblin’ trying to get back upright).

I think even the cookies were dizzy by the end of that!

9 Seth T. 03.08.07 at 4:19 pm

oh my gosh, those kicking legs are just too much for me!

10 Liz 03.08.07 at 4:19 pm

Please give the little guy a cookie! No wonder he couldn’t walk straight LOL

11 Angela 03.08.07 at 4:21 pm

Hahaha! He just keeps going!

12 sydney 03.08.07 at 4:22 pm

Oh the little kicking feet. I’m going to look at this over and over and over and over and over go the other way over and over and….dizzzzzy fell down and can’t get up

13 Subhangi 03.08.07 at 4:24 pm

SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!! I want heem!

(And the cookies too.)

14 Noel 03.08.07 at 4:24 pm

I laughed so loud and hard I just about burst my gut looking at this hilarious and very Qte video! I go ga-ga over cookies, too! Too moische! If I were there I’d give him the entire bag of animal cookies, and then some of my other cookies as well. Heck, he is so darn Qte, he can have ALL my cookies! Don’tcha worry, though. I can always go to the store and get more later on.

15 Jaye 03.08.07 at 4:24 pm

I’m giggling madly at my computer now…I love when the little guy drags the treasure off to the other room!

16 Peg of Tilling 03.08.07 at 4:25 pm

I am so glad I didn’t see this at work–I’d have been at my desk, hand clamped to mouth, emitting high-pitched animal noises.

I’m glad I wasn’t taking the video, either–I’d have been laughing so hard it would have been jumpier than the Homicide: Life on the Street vomitcam.

No waiting for the payoff on this video: instant ham-larity!

17 kelly 03.08.07 at 4:25 pm

I’m seriously glad my boss isn’t in right now. He would have come to investigate my chortling over little hammie’s FEETS all kickin and squirmin and wigglin…Hehehe

18 DKN 03.08.07 at 4:26 pm

Oooh! that made meh dizzeh!

God, I love watching his little back legs and pantaloons pumping up and down as he scurries into the kitchen. Hahaha!

19 Faekitty (Heather M.) 03.08.07 at 4:29 pm

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*ded!*

*green confetti*

20 Faekitty (Heather M.) 03.08.07 at 4:32 pm

Aheem, now that I’m not Ded, that was like a trainwreck! You just CAN’T stop yourself from watching eet!
Like.. “OmG! Someone is going to fall over! Be it the Hammie? Or the Camera person?! WHO KNOWS!!!”
eeeeeee..thud….*didn’t breathe enough, ded again*..

21 ariel 03.08.07 at 4:33 pm

THAT is PERFECT

22 SarahSuiren 03.08.07 at 4:35 pm

That is so adorable! Now I want a hamster ^^
She looked like she was trying to escape after she did all that spinning lol

23 Noel 03.08.07 at 4:37 pm

Don’t you DARE touch his cookies! He’s just like me. You should see me with my cookies. I’m just as possessive. LOL

Anyone who DARES touch his bag of animal cookies will face certain death, and it won’t be pretty.

24 SeaBreeze 03.08.07 at 4:38 pm

Oh My Heck!!! How prosh!!! How qte!!! How … perfectly hammie!!

25 Noel 03.08.07 at 4:39 pm

Hammie tocks! I keep staring at those fuzzy wuzzy hammie tocks! So cuuuuuuuute, widdle tocks!

26 anner 03.08.07 at 4:41 pm

Aaaa! I know the music from childhood and it’s driving me nuts. Somebody please tell me that it’s either (a)Night on Bald Mountain (b)the Dinosaur movement from Carnival of the animals, or (c) something by Grieg. sorry to be a dork, but’s really bothering me.

oh and the hammy is DIVINE!

27 heidilynn 03.08.07 at 4:42 pm

I am at work, and I’m sitting at my desk trying not to giggle out loud (suppressing that much laughter is actually kind of painful).

He didn’t look like he really *needed* the cookies–his chubby little buns and haunches kept cracking me up.

28 Ray 03.08.07 at 4:43 pm

OMG! hammie on his back, cookie still in his mouth, and all his little footies swinging helplessly in the air. Too much!

29 Lisa 03.08.07 at 4:46 pm

First I stared it completely hypnotised – until the poor thing fell on his back. Those teeny tiny feet whipping the air – too much. I shall never recover.

30 Pheas 03.08.07 at 4:49 pm

QUEET following me! I must eet zee cookies in peace!

31 leprechaun 03.08.07 at 4:49 pm

The fact that it’s “Dance Macabre” made me laugh along with the cute.

32 h3 03.08.07 at 4:50 pm

Anner – It’s definitely not night on bald mountain, and I don’t think it’s Grieg. You might be right about Carnival of the Animals, but I don’t think it’s the fossil movement.

33 anner 03.08.07 at 4:51 pm

OK, crisis averted. It’s the “Fossils” movement from Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens. We should really hear more of this piece on this site…if for no other reason than that there’s a movement called “Wild Asses.”

34 Subhangi 03.08.07 at 4:52 pm

OMG I’m watching this again and again and squeeing like an idiot.

Somebody help meeeeee.

35 h3 03.08.07 at 4:52 pm

Oh, ok, maybe it is the fossil movement – Wikipedia says Saint-Saëns quoted the Danse Macabre in Fossils.

36 anner 03.08.07 at 4:53 pm

lebrechaun -OMG! You’re right. I’m wrong. Still Saint-Saens, right? I am a totally failed product of consevatory training. But proudly fulfilling the stereotype of non-studious singer.

37 anner 03.08.07 at 4:54 pm

h3 – aha. that explains why i actually listened to a clip of the Fossil mvt. and was still wrong…

I like how it’s a waltz and the hammy is going around in circles. He looks like a wind-up toy!

38 jaypo 03.08.07 at 4:54 pm

Ohh, this made me laugh so hard!!

Not lettin’ go, NO NO it’s MY cookies, dammit!! [butt waddles down hallway]

39 Deb! 03.08.07 at 4:55 pm

GENIUS!!

40 anner 03.08.07 at 4:55 pm

when he tips over…are those “hammiloons?”

41 Mindy Thornton 03.08.07 at 4:56 pm

The music for this was certainly perfect. Too cute. Reminds me of all our family’s past hamsters.

42 chicklet 03.08.07 at 4:57 pm

Anner – the song is “Danse Macabre” composed by Camille Saint-Saëns and though while not from “Carnival of Animals,” Saint-Saëns also composed it as well.

(according to Wikipedia, the Dinosaur movement and Danse Macabre employ similar xylophone motifs, so that may be why is sounds familiar)

Not sure if you’re a Buffy fan, but you may remember it from one of their episodes (at least, that’s where *I* remembered it from).

As for the hammy, I think my brain just as’ploded.

43 Rae 03.08.07 at 4:57 pm

OMG the music i think totally makes this most hilarious.

44 chicklet 03.08.07 at 4:59 pm

D’oh! I was too late! :(

Note to self: don’t be so wordy next time.

45 Sissy 03.08.07 at 4:59 pm

Yes, we do need a part two where hammie gets his cookie!! Just too cute….

46 anner 03.08.07 at 5:02 pm

Thanks, Chicklet. There are a number of ominous-sounding programatic symphonic pieces that I always seem to confuse; at least now I know why I’m confusing those two.

I don’t remember the Buffy episode, but then I watched all 7 seasons last year within the span of a couple months, so it’s probably crammed into my brain somewhere.

Isn’t it great how small animals don’t seem at all daunted by trying to carry things many times their size? And how hamster and corgi butts look kind of similar?

47 jenn 03.08.07 at 5:04 pm

tears streaming down cheeks, shaking violently at desk, gasping for air………….

48 doodlebug 03.08.07 at 5:05 pm

Did anyone besides me notice that little hammie made a beeline (kind of) straight to the LIQUOR cabinet?! I think this must be where he started from before he got the cookies!!

49 ljlucy 03.08.07 at 5:06 pm

All of the music in “Carnival of the Animals” is snippets of longer pieces by different composers simply played at a different tempo. CotA is a wonderful introduction to the orchestra piece, and the best version has Hugh Downs doing the narration. Because there’s nothing like Hugh Downs saying “a tasty kangaroo merangue”.
http://tinyurl.com/2zzmm6
(Not to mention the cover art is absolutely wonderful. I made my mother save the cardboard album cover long after the record had given all it could.)

50 The Honourable Gladys Anstruther 03.08.07 at 5:06 pm

I thought he was a wind up toy at first.Talk about determined, give the poor little bugger a cookie

51 tblue 03.08.07 at 5:06 pm

Great video, but I hope they got the cookies out for him–not just because he really *deserves* a cookie after all that, but also because plastic bags are dangerous to pets. If he ingests bits, it can block his intestinal track, and of course there is also the suffocation risk.

But the video is truly adorable.

52 DKN 03.08.07 at 5:07 pm

Buffy??!!! Did someone say Buffy???

Which episode is it in??

God, I wish I had speakers at work!

53 DKN 03.08.07 at 5:08 pm

Doodlebug – that’s the pet name my parents have for me – Doodlebug! :)

54 Lesley 03.08.07 at 5:10 pm

Little Hammie: No! You cannot have my COOKIES! They are MIIINNNNEEEE! *runs away*

HEE HEE! I hope he got his cookies!

55 anner 03.08.07 at 5:11 pm

ljlucy – jeez, i never new that. i’m learn-ding! my dad had a recording with Sir Noel Coward. it was on reel-to-reel! when he sold his collection several years ago, that was the one think i asked him put it on cassette first.

chicklet – no problem. repetition aids the learn-ding.

56 Zombie 03.08.07 at 5:22 pm

If there is not already a Motion Picture Academy Award category this video can win, one should be created immediately.

Seriously.

57 chicklet 03.08.07 at 5:22 pm

DKN – It’s from “Hush.” It’s the piece Giles plays when he’s explaining who The Gentlemen are and how they work.

Anner – Thanks :) (and Hush is from season 4, the college season, in case that triggers something from the depths)

58 anner 03.08.07 at 5:24 pm

DKN – found it on Wiki-P. it’s “Hush”, episode 10, season 4, during the hilarious scene in the lecture hall when Giles is trying to explain who the “gentlemen” are, but nobody’s able to talk. he uses it to accompany his presentation.

59 Alida 03.08.07 at 5:25 pm

The Buffy episode with this song was the one when they couldnt talk. They are at the school and Giles is talking to them about the monsters on overhead projector. This is when the song is playing.

:-D

60 anner 03.08.07 at 5:26 pm

i hope someone else is writing the same thing as me right now and that i will post this comment to discover that it is redundant…

61 Alida 03.08.07 at 5:28 pm

LOL, sorry about that Anner

62 chicklet 03.08.07 at 5:28 pm

LOL anner

63 ceejoe 03.08.07 at 5:36 pm

65 amy 03.08.07 at 5:54 pm

too prosh!!! my Lab does that with my unnerwear..only she doesn’t fall down like that.
Oh- CO- you make my days in the cube farm bearable!

66 moi 03.08.07 at 5:55 pm

brilliant!

67 mleiv 03.08.07 at 5:56 pm

I was at work, and I did laugh hysterically, and my boss was there, not 10 feet away. And at that moment he was talking to an important partner, ABOUT ME.

I almost made it without publicly humiliating myself, but when hammie fell over and had to carry away his loot to the other room, that did me in.

68 wendy 03.08.07 at 5:56 pm

I luv that even when he’s all dizzy and flipped over on his back, he STILL won’t let go of the cookies!

He’s looking for a dark quiet place to stash and then devour them, but the large pink animal keeps following him….

69 one of the erins 03.08.07 at 6:02 pm

I don’t know which has me laughing harder, the video or the discussion… either way today is looking like a good day ^_^

70 Tarah 03.08.07 at 6:03 pm

Posted by: kelly | Mar 08, 2007 at 08:25 AM:

Kelly…Me too!

I love his feets kickin all over tryin to get up. I can’t help but giggle at my hammie when she does that when I turn her over on her back.

Is it mean that I want to put cookies in a bag and see if my hammie will do that too?

71 wiven57 03.08.07 at 6:10 pm

I know that feeling well. Must. HAVE. A COOKIE!!! Oh, and his chubby little ‘tocks wiggling their way into the kitchen were too much!

72 DKN 03.08.07 at 6:15 pm

Alida, Anner, Chicklet –

Thanks! Now I don’t have to wonder all day until I get home to listen to it. That is SUCH a brilliant episode. I think if I have my Buffy facts straight, that was the only one that was ever nominated for an Emmy.

73 Lomie 03.08.07 at 6:15 pm

I CANNOT STOP WATCHING IT! ayeeeeahah heyehahahah yeeeeeeeeeeee

74 Theo 03.08.07 at 6:19 pm

DKN & all the Buffies — that was a creepy one… but my all-time fave is:

“They GOT…
“The MUSTARD…
“…OUUUUUUT!”

75 DKN 03.08.07 at 6:22 pm

“I was having a bad bad day…sir please won’t put that pad away…I’m asking you please NOOOO! It isn’t right it isn’t fair…there was no parking anywhere, hey I’m not wearing underwear…why can’t you let it gooooo???”

76 DKN 03.08.07 at 6:24 pm

Theo please tell me you know about the Buff-along??

We have here in NYC:

77 Kate 03.08.07 at 6:25 pm

That has really lifted my mood! Just wanted to thank you guys for submitting and posting it- I really needed it after a day like this!

78 anner 03.08.07 at 6:41 pm

i think “hush” was my favorite episode. it was like a short film. but the musical was pretty incredible. i loved Tara singing to Willow in her LARPER dress. and of course…

“Bunnies, bunnies, it must be BUNEE-EE-EES!”

79 anner 03.08.07 at 6:42 pm

hmm. i guess that’s “LARPer”.

80 DKN 03.08.07 at 6:50 pm

Anner –

“…or maybe midgets”.

I met Emma Caufield (Anya) at some horror convention (I only went to see her). She is teeninecy! – even in high heeled boots. I could of folded her up and put her in my pocket.

And yes Tara rocks in that episode!

81 BunFF 03.08.07 at 6:55 pm

Weeeeeeeell, that first part kicked in my vertigo, but then i was saved by the shakin hamster bootie!!!

That is one driven hammie!

82 Lady Ann 03.08.07 at 6:55 pm

I’m getting dizzy!

83 anner 03.08.07 at 6:58 pm

DKN wow! lucky you. my husband would love to meet Emma Caulfield, as she is one of the many “older” women (including me) he has a thing for.

84 DKN 03.08.07 at 7:07 pm

She is a total hottie, that’s for sure. And so funny!

85 Allison 03.08.07 at 7:10 pm

So funny! The bit where he flips over and his little feets just keep flailing made me sporfle, and then I showed my mum. Yay cookies!

86 Theo 03.08.07 at 7:11 pm

OK… to be perfectly honest, I’m not *quite* the Buffy fan that Jaye & the girls are.
I’m definitely a Firefly guy, though.

87 JuliaJellicoe 03.08.07 at 7:12 pm

I can totally see my beagle doing that if he were a hamster (and even if he weren’t). Plus, gotta love the Danse Macabre soundtrack.

88 h3 03.08.07 at 7:17 pm

Anner, yes, those ominous symphonic pieces? Totally interchangeable. I went to see, um, Justin Timberlake at a club in D.C. last summer (seriously, he’s cool now, it’s ok) and the music when they played when he was coming out was the theme from “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” And I was all excited, because I was going through a Grieg phase. Then the next day the Washington Post music guy identified it as Peter and the Wolf. Uh-uh, my friend! Uh-uh!

89 DKN 03.08.07 at 7:24 pm

Yeah, I admit it – I’m a BIG Joss Whedon noid. I adore Fire Fly. Thats about the extent of my fanatical geekiness…well that and this site ;-P

90 Beautiful Drunk 03.08.07 at 7:54 pm

Wow. I laughed so hard I gave myself a headache and had to pop some xtra strength Advil. At least that is what I hope, because this was seriously funny enough to laugh myself into a brain aneurism.

91 DejaMew 03.08.07 at 7:55 pm

Browncoats Unite!

92 Hamster Too Fat To Run 03.08.07 at 8:00 pm

HAHAHAHAHA leave me alone dammit!

that’s what he’s saying

93 Suzanne 03.08.07 at 8:00 pm

Those FEET! I can’t get over those leetle feetsies still running when he’s on his back!

94 DKN 03.08.07 at 8:02 pm

DejaMew – RIGHT ON.

95 mleiv 03.08.07 at 8:06 pm

Former browncoat (still mad he killed Wash – grrrrrrr!). Not so much a Buffy fan, but I did love Hush. I almost bought the little creepy guy dolls – they were all articulated and came with cool little mad scientist acessories. Not that I’m a doll collector or anything, but I love the creepy.

DKN – My second favourite part of OMWF! My first being Spike, of course:

But since I’m only dead to you
I’m sayin’ stay awaaaaaaay
And let me rest in peace

Theo, just for you:

He robbed from the rich
And he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man
And gave him what for
Our love for him now
Ain’t hard to explain
The hero of Canton
The man they call Jayne

Our Jayne saw the mudders’ backs breakin’
He saw the mudders’ lament
And he saw the magistrate takin’
Every dollar and leavin’ five cents
So he said “you can’t do that to my people”
He said “you can’t crush them under your heel”
So Jayne strapped on his hat
And in 5 seconds flat
Stole everythin’ Boss Higgins had to steal

He robbed from the rich
And he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man
And gave him what for
Our love for him now
Ain’t hard to explain
The hero of Canton
The man they call Jayne

Now here is what separates heroes
From common folk like you and I
The man they call Jayne
He turned ’round his plane
And let that money hit sky
He dropped it onto our houses
He dropped it into our yards
The man they called Jayne
He stole away our pain
And headed out for the stars

He robbed from the rich
And he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man
And gave him what for
Our love for him now
Ain’t hard to explain
The hero of Canton
The man they call Jayne.

98 Angela-Eloise 03.08.07 at 8:31 pm

Hilarious! The music really makes it.

99 Jenne 03.08.07 at 8:32 pm

OMG ROFLMAO!! When he flipped over on his back and was kicking his little feets… omg!! ROFL!!! *sniffle* wiping tears of laughter..

100 de 03.08.07 at 8:36 pm

Holy bananas! THAT is hilarious. I love that the *human* would probably open the bag for him, but….. HELL no – yer not gettin your hands on my bagocookies, lady….

101 DKN 03.08.07 at 8:37 pm

Chicklet – THAT was my favorite Fire Fly episode.

Mmmmm….Spike *sigh*

102 PuppyMomma 03.08.07 at 9:00 pm

OMG, the music made the whole thing! And I like how he was hugging the cabinets at the end. Kinda stayin in the safety zone eh lil fellah? Can’t tip over if you are already leaning on the wall.

103 wolfwhocriedboy 03.08.07 at 9:12 pm

OMG,OMG – other firefly FANS! *hugs*

I bought the box-set – made my family watch it, yup, I can die now knowing I made the world a better place. ;)

My Degus who are about 10x the size of these wee hammies do the stop ‘n spin move on the wheel all the time. Often sycronized. It’s pretty cool but I’m not sure I’d ever be able to capture it on camera. These shot kick-BUM! ;)

104 anner 03.08.07 at 9:26 pm

h3 – how funny! i notice all these pieces also tend to be things that are aimed at children one way or another. i grew up hearing Peter and the Wolf, Night on Bald Mountain, Danse Macabre, Peer Gynt, and Carnival of the Animals, and they’ve all mushed together, sometimes to be joined my the last movement of Berioz’s Symphonie Fantastique (which I didn’t hear until college).

maybe the combo of studying opera and growing up on MTV has me addicted to lyrics as signposts.

and yes, timberlake is much cooler now, sans britney and weird curly hairdo.

105 Theo 03.08.07 at 9:39 pm

Chicklet — no… THIS is what it feels like, to go mad.

106 lezlee 03.08.07 at 9:41 pm

1) Love the hamster and his daring daylight heist
2) Love Buffy and Hush too.
3) That music is also used as the theme from British TV show Jonathan Creek, about the behind-the-scenes magic expert who solved mysteries.
4) And also occasionally co-starred Anthony Stewart Head (aka Giles).

That is all.

107 Shadyman 03.08.07 at 9:41 pm

HA!
“Mustn’t Let Go! Enh!!”

108 acelightning 03.08.07 at 9:42 pm

Theo and others – I’m a Browncoat too! Alas, there weren’t any cute animals anywhere in Firefly/Serenity (the cows don’t count). But just imagine Kaylee with a kitten…

109 Ned 03.08.07 at 9:44 pm

Now that I’ve got the weight balanced right in this bag o’ goodness, I just..have…to… round this corner to get away from nosy human who wants to ruin my smorgasboard! Yikes! It follows me! How about this corner?!

110 Theo 03.08.07 at 9:45 pm

Ace — there was some talk of smuggling *beagles*… smallish droppings, y’know.

111 eikoleigh 03.08.07 at 9:46 pm

Now that is determination! I love those little flaying feet when she tips over! Like a little windup toy that flips over. So funny.

112 Stephanie F 03.08.07 at 9:57 pm

All day I have longed to comment, but work computer was too pokey.

I cast this as an opera because of the high drama and the repetitive quality of most opera arias. In Italian, of course, with English in supertitles:

Hammie: I have the cookies! I have the cookies! Mine mine mine! Glorious, glorious cookies!

Mom: Please let me help you.

Hammie: I do not need your help. Mine all mine!

Mom: If only you would let me open the bag…

Hammie: [flopping and kicking] No no no no no no no! Mine mine mine! Glorious cookies all mine! Oh, where can I run? Where can I flee? I must flee from those who would steal my cookies!

Mom: I only want to help you. I would never steal your cookies.

Hammie: Treasonous harlot. I run from your diabolical machinations. Mine mine mine! Oh, where can I hide? I must flee with my cookies! No no no! Hideous trap! There is nowhere to run!!! Aaaaaaaah!

117 Lybuckles 03.08.07 at 11:32 pm

Run away run away! hahahaha

118 bfl 03.08.07 at 11:55 pm

Ow ow ow….it hurts-too much laughing! Oh my!! hahahahaow!

119 Noelegy 03.09.07 at 12:11 am

That’s it. I’ve made my decision about what to buy with my annual bonus check. I’m going to get a videocamera. With three ferrets, four cats and a dog, I’ve got to get something that’s CO-worthy. Seeing this cinematic masterpiece cinched it. As others have said, the music was a perfect choice.

120 yankeebird 03.09.07 at 12:36 am

Wow, I almost had a heart attack! The title didn’t make sense, but I saw a YouTube with a “Stephanie F” at the bottom, and thought it was the YouTube I sent in since I’m a Stephanie F! I just couldn’t figure out what a two-legged dog had to do with cookies. *sigh* Maybe soon. Maybe not. Mine was more sad than cute, I suppose.

Anyhow, this is just too prosh. He was determined to get those cookies!

121 Noel 03.09.07 at 12:41 am

Redzilla,

I wish I could hear the singers singing your words opera-style in English.

It would be hilarious! LOL!

By the way, if hammie were in my house, he’d get CERTIFIED ORGANIC cookies. He’d be a certified organic hammie.

Yum yum yum yum yum!

122 Mary 03.09.07 at 12:42 am

He’s TOO funny but from the “waddle” I’d say he probably has had enough cookies.

Not that I’m one to talk.

123 Faye 03.09.07 at 1:16 am

LOL:Maybe he was a turtle in a previous life.

Recurring nightmareish situation. Kinda like when you are running away from a monster in your dreams and you can’t seem to get anywhere.

124 BBM 03.09.07 at 1:24 am

These cookies are mine, mine, mine, mine – DON’T TOUCH – mine, mine, mine…

125 ask-god-a-question.com 03.09.07 at 1:46 am

He even refused to stop running when overturned as if defending his cookies to the very end.

126 Tara 03.09.07 at 2:10 am

AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Ohhhhhh, the poor darling little hammie with his (her?) cookies. (*MY!* cookies! *MINE!!* MINEMINEMINEMINEMINE! )

And OOOOHHHH!!!! the mean terrible – WICKED – plastic bag separating him/her from the cookies. How cruel!! Poor little precious punkin’!!

But …. the combination of hammie and Saint-Saens almost tossed me off my chair. It’s really fortunate that I stopped this vid at work just a few seconds after it started. Just once in a while, I try to display some semblance of grown-up-ness. … But not really that often, so it prolly wouldn’t have been a BIG problem.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

127 thepetmuseum 03.09.07 at 2:34 am

oh. motion sickness now. cute motion sickness.

128 Christy 03.09.07 at 2:40 am

teeheehee, pirouettes!

129 Mia 03.09.07 at 3:10 am

aaaaaahaha priceless! does that hammie look extra big though?

130 Andrea 03.09.07 at 3:20 am

LOL!

I loved the part where the little hamster was on its back and struggling to right itself yet DID NOT LET GO OF THE COOKIE while struggling to roll back over. So cute! So determined! <3

131 lauowolf 03.09.07 at 3:23 am

Redz–
Well the opera is a little easier to follow than the ballet version.

132 Theo 03.09.07 at 4:11 am

PetMuseum — you know, it’s pretty impressive… all that spinning, and he never did lose his cookies.

133 elizabells 03.09.07 at 4:28 am

YAY COOKIES!!!

And I love how the human was clearly gauging the exact point at which not helping became more evil than funny. Reaching in like “Not… yet… wait for it… now!”

Have any of the other Buffy fans hear Anthony Stewart Head’s album? It is so, so, so bad. Love the man, love his voice, but the writing, oh my god. “Cheap Wine Lies.” Seriously. Although it’s cute how he has Amber Benson and James Marsters guest on it.

134 wolfwhocriedboy 03.09.07 at 4:46 am

Redzilla mah dear, THAT was easily one of the FUNNIEST things I’ve read in a LONG time. Cudos, I almost peed myself.

I’m now seeing this total hammy-opra in my head. Just the vision of a hamster with a horned hat and a gold bra is enough to send me into laugh-induced coma. ;)

135 luckycliff 03.09.07 at 7:20 am

I’m with you guys… YAY COOKIES!!!

136 R. Moore 03.09.07 at 7:44 am

Now I’m going to imagine all hamsters calling women “treasonous harlots.”

Bwa ha ha.

137 ezreader 03.09.07 at 1:52 pm

Redzilla, that is wonderful! My Saturday afternoons include the Met broadcast and I eagerly await the premiere of this one – will provide great fodder for the Opera Quiz also. In awe at the qtness and the witty comments as always…

138 fifi 03.09.07 at 2:03 pm

tocks in motion!

139 MARYBETH 03.09.07 at 2:13 pm

OMG!!!! I HAVE NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD! I HAD TEARS COMING OUT OF MY EYES! WHAT A WAY TO START A FRIDAY! THANKS!!!!

140 Nuri 03.09.07 at 2:14 pm

That was F***ing hilarious! Though I felt sorry for the poor hammie too… How come he didn’t rip the bag apart though? Silly boy…

141 blair 03.09.07 at 2:31 pm

HOWLS!

oh meg, gimme a minute…

142 Noel (Hammie should be a ballerina) 03.09.07 at 3:12 pm

The latest Hamster Ballet: The Hamster And the Cookies.

I could see hammie as a ballerina, especially at the part where he/she spins and spins and spins around and around and around. Now he/she just needs a little ballerina outfit and cute little ballet shoes on those little feetsees, and he/she is good to go.

143 layla42 03.09.07 at 3:22 pm

elizabells–I haven’t heard that yet, but I also looove his voice. When I saw a video of Anthony Stewart Head as Dr. Frankenfurter (hose, heels, the *works*) I almost died laughing.

I had to wait until I got home from work too–holy crap!! That is one determined little fella. When he fell over, all I could hear was “ehn! ehn! ehn!”

Too funny.

144 ask-god-a-question.com 03.09.07 at 3:48 pm

Who among us can actually say that we haven’t made similar efforts to secure some cookies? Anyone?

145 Dustbunny 03.09.07 at 4:10 pm

I dub thee Sir Ham-a-lot, Guardian of the Cookies.

146 Daisycat 03.09.07 at 4:24 pm

pHAMtom of the Opera??

147 anner 03.09.07 at 4:28 pm

Redzilla – love the opera!

La BoHAM! (by Qteccini)

148 compy-saur 03.09.07 at 5:10 pm

Oh, my GOOTness! What haff we heres? A hammie set on the pwize! Watch him scuwwy away!

149 A. 03.09.07 at 5:10 pm

Best post ever!

150 Fuzzybutt 03.09.07 at 5:31 pm

Dances with hamsters!!!

151 sydney 03.09.07 at 7:14 pm

I just bought 10 box of girl scout cookies I’ll share with you fuzzy guy.

152 sydney 03.09.07 at 7:15 pm

I meant BOXES BOXES.

153 Niki 03.09.07 at 7:16 pm

First timer, was sent here by kind friend; the hamster is incredible, I laughed so hard I had to see it again…and again…and again, just to get used to it enough to stop laughing!!! Thanx MUCHLY for starting my Friday the RIGHT way!

154 Stephanie F 03.09.07 at 10:27 pm

Hey again everyone!
Hammie is a girl … her name is Gom Soon and she’s about 6 months old. Owner Ed D. says he will do a follow-up video. Can’t wait!

155 Christine 03.09.07 at 11:28 pm

xD I laughed out loud at this!

(And I really want to know what piece is the background music!? It sounds like something that Camille Saint-Saens wrote, almost.)

156 Christine 03.09.07 at 11:34 pm

OK, in response to my own comment…
It IS Saint-Saens, looking at these other comments… I knew I recognized the xylophone part. xD

157 kgirl81 03.10.07 at 6:23 am

OMG. The whirling and twirling. The little scurrying (upside down) feets. The “I ain’t nevah lettin go of mah cookees” determination. Too, too moiche. *shakes head* And then – is it just me, or was the first cupboard she went to the Pantry??? (or should that be Hamtry…) And now thanks to Redzilla (and others) not only am I imagining the hampster with the little horned hat, leather skirt and metal bra, but I am imagining a whole cast of little hammy opera characters….. I can see them now…..

158 pyrit 03.10.07 at 2:34 pm

Late to the party here.

Redzilla – Your opera! Wonnnderful! Wow. That was really good.

When I watch the vid I definitely hear Flight of the Bumble Bee by Korsakov. Alternately, I also hear Around the World by Daft Punk.

159 shooto Ed 03.10.07 at 4:19 pm

Hello Gom Soon fans. I have posted the Directors Cut of the Cookie Movie. It includes cut scenes and a couple photos of Gom Soon! Enjoy =)

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/469290/i_want_cookies/

160 redbone 03.10.07 at 7:19 pm

That got a laugh. Poor little thing, I hope cookies were had, eventually.

161 Steve 03.10.07 at 7:57 pm

Now I got the cookies,I RUN TO THE KITCHEN AND EAT THEM!!! (or perhaps store them in my pouches).

162 tsaiah 03.11.07 at 12:06 am

Okay, I know it’s really late for comments, but I must…
OMG eee eee eee circle circle circle *plop* FEETFEETFEET!!! run run run hehehehehehehee
…okay, all better now. :)

163 Teresa Nielsen Hayden 03.11.07 at 5:45 pm

OMG that is a funny video.

I’ll bet the hamster knows the bag is going to be taken away. Gnawing through plastic is bad for hamsters. So are sweet snacks. But that hammy’s still giving it one hell of a try.

164 Kip W 03.11.07 at 7:29 pm

The hamster needs to stop running around in circles, or she’ll end up tossing her cookies.

…tiny print footnote: Three movements of “Carnival of the Animals” use quotes, the rest are originals…

165 Brak_Silverbone 03.11.07 at 10:42 pm

Yeah, I pretty much do that when I get cookies too.

166 Issendai 03.11.07 at 11:41 pm

I died. I *died*. Then I came back to life to watch it again and died again. The best part is where the hamster flips over and all his feet are waving in the air, and he could right himself if he just let go of the cookies–but he never does.

Did he get the cookies in the end?

167 Genn 03.12.07 at 12:39 am

ZOMG! i’ve watched thees like 7 times! *wiggles grubby little mouse feet in the air* CUUUUUTE

168 Tam 03.12.07 at 5:48 am

There’s something about the shot of a hammie’s backside that’s hysterical! This was a true work of art – I laughed so hard my side hurt.

and, Browncoats – Simon does mention having a hamster named after him. I think it was in the much sung Jayne’s Town episode.

How’s THAT for tying together supposedly unrelated items?

169 Andrea DuBois 03.12.07 at 10:21 pm

It’s spasming in ectasy that it has some cookies! So cute :)

170 luckycliff 03.16.07 at 7:53 am

HAW HAW HAW still laughing… *snicker*

171 Noamuth 04.07.07 at 4:33 am

So. Freaking. Great. XD

172 Lerrinus 07.30.07 at 2:27 am

*falls off chair laughing*
Da feet! OMG! Da FEET!!!!!

x-D
