Comments

  1. ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!
    look at dee pouch!!!!

  2. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with blobby!hammy until I noticed the third ear.

    Is today All Hammy Thursday?

  3. one of the erins says:

That’s so awesome, I used to have gerbils that would do that… on the gerbil wheel, one would runrunrunrunrunrunrunSTOP and go flinging around in a circle. Makes me want to invent a rollercoaster for rodents.

    (Rodentcoaster?)

  4. Karen in Toronto says:

Pic 2, front: this is what I imagine dormice (dormouses?) look like, just before they are stuffed into teapots.

  5. round and round she goes where she stops nobody knows. Qte

  6. bikerbabe says:

The real question is did she stick the landing???

  7. hester13 says:

    zwergmaus

  8. I never understood how hammies could run all day (or night as the case may be) and then STILL look like they are blobs.

  9. punkpie says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

    *love* the first pic.

  10. Love the live action shot. Is that Hammy Lou Retton?

  11. You have done well, little grasshopper.

  12. There hasn’t been such a great transformation in a living thing since Jesus.

  13. Looks a little more like Hamsiddhartha, to me.
    (How is this even *possible*??)

  14. Wisefool says:

I love watching the mice in the pet store do this. It’s even better when one is running on top and one running inside. Have to make sure there’s enough bottom clearance, though.

  15. Cirque de Hammie!

OMG! I LOVE the eye slits in the second pic.

And again Theo, once you’ve seen the hedgies crawls all over some brit’s head and considering the vid i sent you the other day – isn’t anything possible??

  16. Peg of Tilling says:

    It’s Tony Ham-Hawk!

  17. ShelleyTambo says:

The hammie posted back in November had the same wheel, and it STILL makes me crave a sunnyside up egg.

  18. ThreeDogNight says:

“God, I’m tired! All that running for a lousy piece of lettuce? I give up. Time to rest!” (the sound of adorable little hammie snores fills the air)

  19. EEEE! GUUUUU!

  20. pistache268 says:

    Hamsiddhartha!

  21. Awwwww. So squishy.

  22. I want those pictures on a tee shirt.

  23. Fish Eye no Miko says:

    Picture 1: WHEEEEEE!!
    Picture 2: Zzzzzzzzzz…

  24. Fuzzybutt says:

O MA GAWD!!! My head just exploded from all the hammie cuteness!!!

  25. Faekitty (Heather M.) says:

    Omg……OMG!….OMFGWTF!!!!!!!!

    *S’plodes again*

    *Teal Confetti*

  26. Another Angela says:

Hammie must be a yoga master to have such a flexible spine.

  27. Don’t worry chicklet, i didn’t realize pic #2 was two hammies until further inspection.

There should be a Cute-olympics, and wheel running would definately be an event, or two…

  28. Did this lil guy take the animal crackers from our dizzy hammie and he’s storing all of them for hisself.

  29. Suzanne says:

He’s so shooting the curl in pic 1. Hang ten little hammie!

  30. this entry makes me squeeee XD

  31. Chubby cheeks! Love it.

  32. pookiepuff says:

That totaaaally reminds me of my hamster! My hamster tries to run reeeeally fast, as fast as his little pink furry feet can go and then he all of a sudden stops running and lets himself go around and around the wheel. He’s so cute when he does that! I love tiny Russian dwarf hamsters! I love love love it when they turn into little sleeping blobs!!!!!

  33. layla42 says:

He looks like he’s doing a hammy backflip and stuck the landing…right on his buddy.

I can hear the little honk-shu’s from here!

  34. Lillith says:

    Hey Teho:
    Hamaste.

  35. hrh.squeak says:

    Ham-tastic! Mwahahahahaaaa.

  36. lauowolf says:

I thought this was hammie and eggs at first.
    With extra side of hammie.

  37. First picture:
    “Do de do ..”
“Goddammit, Bobby!! Get out of the way of the picture!! … Rude.”

  38. My gerbils have work to do to catch up with that hammie!

  39. Juniper Jupiter says:

    He’s a maniac MANIAC
    On the Wheee-uhl

and he’s spinnin’ like he’s never spun beforeeeellll????

    What?

    WHAT?

    :P

  40. Sterling Hoyt says:

I admit on the first shot I thought he was swimming in some sort of soapy liquid …. glad the second pic cleared it up. Whatta athelete!

  41. Lillith: om mani padme ham

  42. I need to Squiiiiiiiiish!

    *Squishes blob of cuteness*

  43. Pic 1: “OMG WHEEEEEEEE!”

  44. Shannon says:

    What a great shot!!

I thought of a sunny side egg at first too.

    ….hamaste, ROFL……

  45. I’m glad that when I exercise, I LOSE calories, unlike this poor hamster.

  46. Chris B. says:

Way to Cute…Someone has way too much time on their hands if they can get a picture like that. Hmmm sounds like me…

  47. OMG Sterling Hoyt! I thought he was swimming at first glance, too! I was thinking to myself, “wow, i didn’t realize that hammies could do the backstroke!”

  48. Teho:

    Ohm hama Shivaya

  49. Hammie Krishna!
    (…and that’s all I’ve got)

  50. Hammie in the second picture looks like a fluffy little bon bon. Eeeeeeeee!

  51. Oh man I wanna kiss da belly! :)

  52. TWO fluffy little bon bons, EricaE.

  53. I woke up this morning after a VERY long night at my new job, and burst into a major gigglefest at that amazing, anerable backflip. I’m so going to get myself some hammies!

I’ve had my eyes on two dalmation dwarf hamsters, brothers. Any suggestions for names?

  54. Just moved to China. So happy that this is one of the sites that gets through the Great Firewall.

Snorga: I suggest Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Or name one the newest Chinese word I learned: kaoxiang — oven (I needed mine repaired yesterday).

  55. Soo cute! I didn’t realize that the bottom picture had two hamsters until I read some of the comments. Another picture to show my boyfriend when I say I want a hamster (or 10). :)

  56. Fatal Fluffy — wow, that *is* interesting. And cool. Welcome home!

  57. I mean, not so much about the oven… but thanks for the vocab too. Heh.

  58. Hamsiddartha, huh, Theo? *snort

Teho: Oh, wise and compassionate Hammie Lama, what is the secret to a fulfilling life?

Hammie Lama: Whenever you get the chance, stuff as many cheese puffs in your cheek pouches as you can.

  59. Oh, the anerability of the slanty little closed eyes in the last picture. Reminds me of the expressions on images of Buddha in a state of enlightenment.

  60. Eeeeee! More roborovski sweetness!
If I don’t get me some of my own soon I think I may explode.

  61. xie xie (thank-you) Theo. CO helps me get my ‘furry fix’ while I’m waiting for my cat to get out of quarantine (only a few more days!).

  62. HeidStar says:

Hammie is catching some seriously BIG AIR in that first pic.

  63. Yay! I gotta hammie! He’s an absloutley adorable male honey hammie. I knew he was perfect when I saw him at petsmart–all his brothers were totally zonked, but he was runnin on his wheel like the cops were chasing him!!!

I got him a great cage and everything, and of course a wheel, and he’s lovin it. The only thing is he hasn’t climbed up his tubes yet to the second floor; I hope he figures out how.

Anyway, my boyfriend wants to name him Phadeus, although we don’t know what that means!

  64. Perhaps that’s where anime creatures get their zany behaviours from – the simple observance of normal animals at play.

  65. Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought the hammie was swimming!

  66. He may be a blob, but he won hisself a lady with his athletic prowess. You go, Ratty-O!

  67. Of all the cuteness on this site if ever any photos cried out for a video.. this one does. Please supply one ASAP

I have sent the video of the hammy and the animal crackers to a gazillion people.. I suspect this one with a bit of music would be even more entertaining!

  68. Kathy C. says:

Yay, thanks for posting us! Pitter and Patter are gonna get big hammy heads!

    Steve, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXRH50fvHWA
They aren’t my hammies, but apparently all Robos do the wheel thing.

Chris B.: yes, I have way too much time on my hands. :)

Cafe Alpha: t-shirt, eh? That can be arranged…

  69. lauowolf says:

Someone’s letting the air out of hammies, and leaving them all puddled up.
Who would do such a thing?

  70. oaklandcat says:

check out his little tail in the first pic! That kills me…

  71. um, can any see the most perfect teeny feets in the first pic.

    The feets are too much!

    *splode*

  72. I’m getting a distinct Jabba The Ham vibe from the second picture.

  73. twobeesequalonedog says:

hey chicklet, I have gerbils who do exactly the same thing as yours used to do! I didn’t know it was a gerbil-thing to runrunrun-STOP! and then flip over 3 or 4 times.

  74. R. Moore says:

I don’t know WHY I thought that was a kitten in the first picture.

Oh hey, a kitten wheel would be brilliant!

  75. cheddarbunny says:

Oh my, an Anderson reference and hamsters? That is too much!

  76. Awww, this reminds me of the (12) gerbils we used to have! They would see us watching them, then run on their little wheels to show off, then sudenly, they’d stop and ride the wheel around a few times!

  77. OMG. I home sick from work today…taking advantage catching up on everybodys blog….YOUR PIC MADE MY DAY…TOO CUTE!!

  78. Snorga – congratulations on the new hammie! This site is a great inspiration, isn’t it?

  79. “what is the secret to a fulfilling life”

Red, don’t you mean a *fluffilling* life?

  80. Now that I think of it, that hamster must have definitely taken the red pill.

  81. I want new peectures!!!!!1!!!!

  82. thats it. i just died. cause of death: exposure to extreme cuteness. thanks, co. you’ll be hearing from my attorney!

  83. Good luck Steven!|

  84. Thanks ceejoe. Yes, I totally love this site! I’ve been trying to get on it–I’m all following my cat Marmalade around with a camera, “do something cute! do something cute!” But no luck yet. ;-)

My little hammie Phadeus is anerable. He ran all day and all night on his new purple wheel, and now he’s zonked out UNDER IT. Now if he would just put his lil feets up…

  85. oh we will take care of his little feet in time…no worry we will…meow! hammie!meow!

  86. hammie,hammie…come over here…

  87. Ohmygarsh, I just laughed SO hard at that video of the hammies on the wheel. How can they go SO fast????

And these pics are so great. The yin and yang of hamdom.

  88. natalie q says:

Ham Petty: and I’m freee Free Fallin!

  89. lauowolf says:

    Oh Snorga-
That’s why I have all these photos of my cats sleeping.

  90. Suda Nim says:

    R. Moore: ask and ye shall receive:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aVLdeIKZuM

(There are lots more cats-on-wheels on the web, but I like the multi-cat action here.)

  91. Suda Nim, thanks for sharing that! I wish my cats would do that. They’re way too lazy.

  92. OMG!!! Hilarious! Looks like his tocks caught up with his face!

  93. mmmm cheese :o oops i mean daaaang what isup with that hamster is it on crack or somthing GERSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  94. Montecore827 says:

    Dead at the wheel.

  95. This post came SO close to making me buy a hammie this weekend :) I thought the kitty overlords might not approve though.

  96. Jennifer says:

    This is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the ham on the wheel on the 1st picture and he is saying…
    WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    AWSO–ZZZZZZZZZZ

  97. well kim, not only did it make me buy a hammie, C.O. has completely taken over my brain. I came home late last night and said to my hammie, “hewwow, lil mister hammiepants!” My boyfriend thought I was crazy. “Hammie-pants?”
“Yes, I can’t help it, he’s so CUUUUUTTTTEEEE!”
