Eye capsules… so… heavy!

Oh my, what is it? A alien lifeform? First time I’ve seen a sloth on CO! First time I’ve seen a sloth that color! First time I’ve seen a sloth in, um, whatever it is he’s in. Unbeliegable.

Ooops. Well, anyway, I adore his delighted expression in the screenshot.

See, Ruki, although I wuzzn’t first, because my comment took so long to arrive, I managed to say the word “bleen” in a way that can’t possible annoy any among us of the Theo persuasion (I hope)…

However, typing “possible” instead of “possibly” is definitely annoying to those of us of the useta hada kitteh/spelling nerd persuasion…

okay, I know I’ve already commented on this guy, but I just noticed that his box says “Sharp” right underneath his claws, which are a pretty good illustration of the word.

Um… sloths? Not cute. HorrifyingOverload maybe but…

A cousin-of-a-cousin of mine, whom I met maybe four times, used to have all sorts of weird pets. He was mainly interested in snakes, but he also had some other reptiles (lizards), a few exotic birds, and a “slow loris”, which is basically a type of sloth. (Which prompted one of the other cousins to comment, “I wonder if there’s a ‘fast loris’?”) Anyway, last I heard, this cousin-of-a-cousin, now all grown up, was a herpetologist at the National Zoo in Washington, DC.

Two-toes slothy…poor little guy. I learned two things in Costa Rica about sloths.

ONE: The come down out of their tree once a week. To do their “business”

TWO: They belong in trees not in boxes.

Is it just me, or does he look like a baby Yeti? I see him, in 5 years or so, as a full grown abominable snowman causing nightmares in the minds of Northern youth.

It looks a bit Macaulay Culkin-ish.

Despite that, it manages to be cute. I can just imagine it clinging to my neck. On second thought, examining those claws, maybe not…

This is definitely a first for me. I’ve never seen a sleepy baby sloth video before. Can’t say it’s cute or cuddly (definitely not cuddly given the claws), but it’s definitely adorable in its own kinda-ugly yet kinda-sweet sort of way.

I wouldn’t want to meet an Anger though. Or an Envy.

Woah, the ‘Nuffs are out in force today. I’ve always thought sloths were adorable and this tie-tie baby just makes my heart melt.

To be honest that is the most disgusting thing I’ve seen in a while. I don’t find the appeal in eye capsules. But the overall “eh!”-ness is cute. I guess.

Well, i think he is totally adorable! When he is looking up out of the box, i just want to pick him up and snuggle him.

That’s how I am in the morning…oh, who am I kidding, that’s me all day. I want to be reincarnated as a sloth. Except for that whole having your habitat destroyed thing, that’d be the life.

I wonder if they’re cuddly, like if they’d fall asleep in your arms…they’d probably climb you like a tree and fall asleep around your neck.

BTW, I checked the Unusual Animal archives and this isn’t the first sloth entry- there was one on 2/3/06, with the adult slots sticking their head out of the box.

Last year, my anatomy class had to do presentations and one group picked the sloth as their topic.

I know because I am planning on attending a massage program there in the fall, and this sanctuary resides not far outside Samara (I found it through links on the school’s website). It may be that this behbeh is in a box because of a rescue situtation. It’s a sad reality for sloths that their trees are often cut out from under them. Cudoes to the animal helpers involved if that’s the sitch.

Cute in an other-worldly, two-claws-per-hand, pink-and-shiny sort of way. And you have to like an animal that only poops once a week (or month, opionion seems to be divided on the matter).

I love that Meomi sloth and the manatee and the prairie dogs ana ana ana…I’ve had those as my desktop background for ages and they just don’t get old.

Sloths are my favourite animals ever, ever.

And there’s no cruelty going on here either. This looks to be taken from a quite well-known sanctuary where orphaned baby sloths are looked after until they are good to go and be wild again.

Three-toed sloths are my slight favourites mind you – but this little chap is gorgeous!
