We gotta talk…

Jenn P., way to send in the four-star vids…

  1. awwwwwwww kitty!!!

  2. Catman Dude =^-.-^= says:

Man, this is sooooo sweeet! Here I am, a guy saying this. I really really just want to squeeeeee dis kittieeee!

Oh what a cute cute KEEEYOOOOOT kittee wittee!

  4. I love how the little ears stretch out with every mew!

  5. acelightning says:

I have conversations with my big old cat Loki all the time. He still has a tiny little meow, which sounds funny coming from a big cat. But I understand what he’s saying, and I think he understands most of what I’m saying, although I know he’s thinking, “Human, your accent *sucks*!”

(Loki always gets the last word, of course.)

  6. Lemme at ‘er! MMMWA!

  7. What a sweet, cute, kitty! I lolled when she jumped up to mew at the camera!

  8. OMG!! Reminds me so much of Jasmine only a month or two ago!! Oh how I miss that precious young age!
    Too adorable.
Except Jasmine never meowed that often.

    Tooooooo cuteeeeeeeee!!!!

  9. Catman Dude: I think the Ladies find a guy who totally “gets” kewt very sexy …so don’t be embarrassed – embrace that inner sweet & out yourself as a true kewt connoisseur. 😉

  10. ::::: WANT! :::::

  11. skafjhguklasdhkndgagkfsdandf!

*reduced to nonsensicalness by the CUUUUUUUTE*

    *wants a kitty*

  12. The meow at the end was the best!

  13. Awww! Kitten just wanted to be petted, but the person didn’t speak enough cat to understand that. I love talky cats!

  14. cute as heck kitty. the woman really needs to work on her *mew*….but then I’m used to my daughter, who has a masters in kitty-speak – been studying intensely her whole life.
This reminded me of when her adopted stray had a litter and was by her bed nursing the kitties, when she looked up at Taj and meowed – very specifically, taj mewed back of course, just jokingly, but kitty kept it up, and got very insistent with whatever she was telling her (or, as it turned out – asking). After a good few minutes of this, she sat 1/2 way up (while kitties were still trying to nurse), waited for further assurance from taj, sat up some more (all this while, they’re mewing back and forth); started to stand up – still mewing intently. By this point taj was worried there was something really wrong. She mewed back at her one more time, and the momma managed to get away from the kitties to go use the litter box. Then came right back and was all quite and content.

  15. Me wanna play wif the kitty!

  16. Cuuuuute kitteh!! =)

    Can we mute the human?

  17. Awww! She’s so sweet. Or He? It looks sort of calico-ish I don’t know I think it’s a she.

Man I want to cuddle that little kitten so badly. <3

  18. De – that’s a great story 🙂

  19. I done that in the past. Works best with kittens, adult cats, some do some don’t. I used to have a nice meow when I was younger, lost it some years ago.

  20. OMG! I want that little kitters! It reminds me of my Jackson when he was a babers! OHHH! Makes me sad for kitters!

  21. Ok ok… It won me over.

  22. Me..wants..kitty..
Theo, I’ll race you for it!

  23. The eye squinches every time s/he mews .. so adorable.

  24. 123 fake st says:

i liked when he got petted

  25. de:
what a sweet story! reminds me of ME when I nursed my own babies! One time, I had to “go” so bad, I brought the baby with me!! (I know, TMI…)

  26. now /that/ is a cute cat

  27. pookiepuff says:

That is so adorable! It makes me want a kitteh of my very own. We could have great conversations. hehe!

  28. chatter box with tock!!!!! that is what I call my baby kitteh,
    talks and tocks
    talks and tocks
and she meows more each time I say that!!! Wonderful vid!*!*!*!

  29. kind of reminds me of my cat and i except he just ignores me and turns away..

  30. Juniper Jupiter says:

Okay, that’s it! My head just asploded!!!!

My baby girl Gentry and I talk to each other the same way! I say “Hi!” and she goes “HI” back and forth back and forth!!!TOO CUTE!!!

  31. I’m grinning so hard at this video I think the top of my head is going to fall off.

  32. Kitties are just the ♥love♥, aren’t they. Me wants too…

  33. Lol This made me laugh, ‘cuz the kitty’s eyes get all squinty when it mews. ^.^ I especially like the jump-in-yo-face part. Classic. 😀

  34. This makes me miss my kitteh back home soooo much – he’s a ten-year-old Siamese, but we talk ALL the time. ^.^ One time he got left outside in the rain, and when I pulled up in the driveway he ran out to the car and chewed me out the whole way back inside. You can always count on a Siamese to let you know what they want!

  35. LOL LOL LOL My kitty is now running all over the house trying to find the crying baby! Cuuuuuuuuute!!!

  36. Awww!!! Those two LOVE each other! So, so sweet.

  37. Yvie…only females are calicos (calicoes?).

Mine gives me a nice “bitch” session if I come home late from work. Or if I don’t get her breakers fast enough. Or if I’m on the phone too long. Yeah…basically all the time.

  38. What a sweet kitten. Looks like whoever owns it is very loving. Kittens need to face-butt with their owners, just to show the love. And tummy rubs are always a good thing.

  39. Nicolletta says:

Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew! Mew!

That kitty just made my day. =)

  40. This is practically me with our monster-size Bentley-cat.
Except he’ll always start it by laying on the floor, staring intently at me, then going “Mrrrough!”
I’ll mimic him, he’ll make another kitty sound, I’ll mimic that, and he’ll get more and more excited the more we go back and forth. I think he starts by saying something nice, like “Hey, how goes it?” then, once he realizes that I’m just repeating back everything he says, saying things like “Cats are supreme!” or “Humans are stupid!” He always looks especially smug when he stops the game, which is a look usually reserved for minor revenges, like sitting on papers we’re using after we move him from the couch, or tricking us to leave our turkey sandwiches unattended if we didn’t give him a piece while we were initially making it.

  41. Mindy Thornton says:

I do this with my cat as well. I think she just wants the last word all the time. Just the other night she wanted to get out of my room but the door was shut, so she started meowing. I meowed back at her, and got a prompt response each time. I knew she wanted out, that was for sure.

Not my cat though.. just thought i’d let you know 🙂
wish it was my cat though!
    i’ll send in more videos

  43. Marco?

  44. Mewco?

  45. lauowolf: You had the words, but you need to work on your accent.

  46. Sweet little kitteh has so much to say!

  47. Mrrekrow?

    Better, Suda?

  48. Martha in Washington says:

You have to practice a foreign language every day to become fluent. And it is very helpful to have a native speaker to practice with. These two look like they practice together alot.

I WANT THIS KITTIE!!! Or any kittie.

  49. Oh my goshhhhhh that is so freaking cute! When my cat was a baby, he couldn’t meow, so it came out more like a squeaky and then silence, so it sounded like he had laryngitis.

  50. all day long says:

Calico kitties are so smart and vocal. I just love this, too darn cute for words. Kronsch, Kronsch, kees, kees, lil keeeeetie.

  51. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwrrrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! 🙂 🙂

  52. Just like my Ares. He still talks to me like this although he’s fully grown. And believe it or not, he will actually talk to my mother on the phone. I hold the receiver, she says his name, he’ll meow!

  53. Adorable kitty. The mews made me melt into goo. I sure wish my cat would meow so sweetly. These days all I get is a nerve shattering screech along with a look of complete digust and/or annoyance. Cranky old thing.

  54. oooowww…i just popped something in my HEAD watching this!!!

Makes me think of old Gus. We inherited him as an 18-year-old furball…I’m sure he must have been a real talker in his youth…but when we got him…well… imagine this video, but instead of “mer-yeh” all that came out was “***” nothing.
He’d just follow us around, trying his damnedest to meow…and nothing…

  55. Formica Dinette says:

As I was watching this my kitteh Andrew mewed and jumped up in my lap, just like little kitteh in the video. Of course, Andrew has about 12 pounds and 14 years on little kitteh in the video. Mew!

  56. Mine only do this when there is some serious gain to be had from acting cute:s Like tuna or chicken. Nowadays he’s mainly a bundle of energy surplus since he hates snow and only goes out to do what he has to do. Energy surplus is used on mischief.

  57. Brian in Minneapolis says:

Ah, the bittersweet cuteness of the kittersey muteness!

When I started writing this, I didn’t intend to do the weird linguistic thing… but this site seems to have awesome powers over the human mind!

  58. Aww–that’s how Speak got his name. When he was about that size, he’d ‘miew’ at me, and I’d talk back.
Now he’s a very chatty 20-pound monster. Which is cute, because he’ll follow us around when we get home from work and tell us about his day.
    “Really? What’d you do then?”
“Yeah? Did you see the birdies?”

It’s cute. Until he feels the need to talk around 4am.

    …rotten little bugger…

  59. OMG! I thought I was the only one who did this!! LOL

  60. GAAAAHHHH teh most adorable kitty mews evah! Nyah!

  61. Noel (Mew mew mew mew mew) says:

I hope that the Pimsleur language series will come out soon with a CD set of beginning Cat-ese. Not Cantonese. They already have that. Cat-ese. Then I could sit down one-on-one with a kitteh and have a really good conversation about chasing squirrels, ordering a coffee and a beer in Kitty Land, calling for a taxi, finding a hotel room, and changing the litterbox when needed. It would put all future relationships between kittehs and me on a whole new level.

  62. That is so adorable.

My cat Shadow will still talk on occasion….but she will talk only when she has something to say or if she is trying to get someone to play with her…

  63. OMG…can I just chomp down on that kitty? Seriously, just a eensie weensie nibble? You

  64. (continued) you’ll never even notice I was there!

  65. Anonymouse says:

    He said captain,
    I said what?
    He said captain,
    I said what?
    He said captain,
    I said what?
    He said captain,
    I said what you want?

  66. I LOVE catversations. We have a lot of them around here, especially Jess who comments on everything from ‘You’re home, I’m starving’ to ‘It’s bedtime, don’t forget our snacks’. This utterly sweet kitten made both Sara and Jess look at each other, then at me, then they went looking for the kitten, separately. With every ‘real’ mew, they’d pause, readjust the radar ears and look some more. I choked on my coffee!

  67. Aww!! My kitten did the same thing when he was little. And still!!

  68. Oh BLESS the little kittykat that is SO cute i LOVE it but of course – all u people who want kittens now – go to CATS PROTECTION!

  69. Meeyews
(3 kittehs here are now swatting at the puter screen)

  70. “Knock-knock”
    “Who’s there?”
    “Banana who?”
    “Who’s there?”
    “Banana who?”
    “Who’s there?”
    “Banana who?”
    “Who’s there?”
    “Banana who?”
    “Who’s there?”
    “Orange who?”
“Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?”

  71. “Kitty!”

  72. Oh, brilliant. I actually had a dream about this kitten last night. I was coaxing it to go up a short flight of stairs and every time it would do a little run-up and OH MY GOD SO CUTE

    I need a cat now.

  73. cute cute cute cute…can’t get enough of it 🙂

  74. One of the cutest videos evar! I love kitties who have conversations. I had a tuxedo girl who did that. I miss her. 😦

  75. yyayayayayayay!!! i’m SO glad Ali’s video got posterededed!

i went all asplody when she posted this in her LJ, days after she brought the new baby home. i still haven’t gotten the chance to meet the little one, but she’s so farking cute in this vid.

  76. oh, and i forgot to mention the kittOn was a rescue from a litter of feral kittens. 🙂

  77. So, so cute! I keep coming back and watching it again. I love how the kitteh’s eyes partially close and the ears change position at every “Myeow!”

  78. *dies of cute*

  79. AWWWW I used to do that with my cat and a little toy cat and make mewing noises and she would always talk to the toy cat, but she’s… gone now…
    *starts crying*

  80. Noel (Mew mew mew) says:

I just looked at this video on You Tube as well as other videos that were submitted featuring this kittie, by the same user. Apparently, the kitten’s name is Myth. There’s a video on You Tube showing Myth’s first snowfall. It is very cute.

  81. The cuteness, it makes me weak! Oh, and male calico-kitties, while rare, do exist. I worked at a Humane Society cat shelter about a decade ago, and I drove a not-even-half-grown cali to the vet to be spayed. The vet called us later, very amused, and said he’d certainly neuter the little fella if we wanted, but spaying was rather out of the question. We’d just seen his coloring and assumed, without doing the standard ‘flip and check’. We got paranoid about cali-age after that, and ended up stumbling over three others, which was all but a haystack needle statistically, consider the sheer volume of calicos that we saw.

Random trivia-bit, the black-orangegold calicos with limited or no white markings were obscenly hard to adopt out, and last heard, that’s still the case in most areas in the U.S.

Also, while I can’t support this statistically, it’s just my random observation from that job, inkjet/laser printers are a wonderful invention for owners of male orange tabbies. Invariably, when they could not commandeer a lap, one or another would try to sleep -inside- the dot matrix printers, and would not vacate the premises until the thing actually started moving. We kept a sign on the computers that said to check the printer for tabbies before printing. Yes, we could have just built a cover, but they loved the nap-spot so much, and the cat hair that occasionally left white lines in a printout added character!

  82. Yikes! My apologies, I didn’t realize my comment had gotten that long. I need a long-winded checker as well as a spellchecker, I guess.

  83. Freezair wins.

  84. Oh, Sammie, I’m so sorry… *hugs* *points to kitty* why don’t you give her(?) a hug? kittyhugs make everything better. I vote Sammie gets first dibs on cuddling the kitteh.

  85. I’m not a cat person, but this is too anerable! Those sweet little mews and that satisified look on kitteh’s face during a head scratch are just too much!

  86. oh my gosh, that is so cute! I miss my kitty 😦 (I go to college and she’s at home)

  87. I think I’m gonna have to get drunk again. This cuteness can’t be taken on a sober stomach.

(Catman Dude – this is Aubrey: do I know you from somewhere?)

  88. blackcatgirl says:

eastie: i had a tuxedo that would talk to me too. i miss her as well 😥

  89. If that kitten were here mewing like that, I’d ask, “What do you want?” and then pick her up and snorgle her. If she still kept mewing, I’d go check to see if her water bowl and food bowl were empty, if she wanted to play, if her litterbox needed emptying, or whatever else she’d want or need. I’d figure that kitty is trying to tell me something, and it’s up to me to try to figure it out.

  90. Anyone who says cats are aloof, and independent have never lived with one or had a close bond with one as attention demanding like this little kitteh! OR LIKE MINE!

  91. Oh god.

I’ve been periodically rewatching this thing ALL. DAY.

I need a new distraction or next thing I know I’m going to be in an animal shelter opening one of the cages.

  92. GAH! I’m going into squee-‘splosions! I can’t stop watching the mewing goodness. I looooooooove the mew just before she gets scritchies.

Maybe it’s ’cause Myth looks like my cat as a kitten? Only she didn’t mew half as cute as that!

  93. AWWWWWW! Thank you, now I feel all warm and cozy inside! I love talkers, especially cute kids like this one. As for difficult to place shelter kids, here in CNY it seems to be black cats. Why, I don’t know — perhaps the stupid superstition. I love black cats! (heck, I love ALL cats!)

  94. My cat Milky sometimes does this when she wants attention or wants something done (feeding, litter changing, etc.), but her meows really don’t make noise. If she’s really frantic, she’ll make kind of a creaking noise in her throat at the end of her meow. Then, if she finds herself a “toy” like a milk carton ring, she’ll walk up and down the hall, making these very deep, from-the-diaphragm, actual meows. That’s really about the only time she makes noise.

MariaS–my first cat was a black cat. I don’t remember the rest of the litter, but I’m told that the rest of the litter had siamese markings. My mom really wanted me to pick one of them, but she says I was insistent on the black cat.

  95. Bunnyslave says:

When I played this both of the bunnies started ear-rotating and hopping around. One was looking for somewhere to hide, and my big rex was looking for the kitty so she could go give it a good ass-kickin’.

  96. “He said Captain
    I said what?”

Aaarrgghhh – what song is that? It’s driving me crazy (not a long drive, I’ll admit).

  97. Mia, it’s “Wot?” by Captain Sensible (of The Damned fame).

    He said “Captain?”
    I said “Wot?”

  98. Right!! Ah, the old MTV days…

  99. And I honestly thought I was the only one who communicated with kitties with the meows lol!

I too have had some very interesting conversations with cats, more interesting than some humans for sure 😉 I’ve also found other odd noises which get them interested; possibly the most effective on all cats is “pssswssswsss” with the esses as whistling sounds.

And yeah, I’m also a not-so closeted male cat lover 😉 Love this video!!!

  100. I believe anerable baby animal sounds should be a rule of cuteness for vids.

  101. You know what would make this video perfect? (It’s almost there as it is.) If the purring that we all know that kitten is doing could be heard. ^_^

  102. i ave watched dis video so many times but still de best neva get bored of it de likle cutie mashallah so beautiful i want errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr pweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez
make more videos well der is one wen shes lukin at fish tanks n u tube

  103. Awwww! My Murphy (black cat) is a talky cat. I have “catversations” with him all the time.

This video just makes me feel good all over!

We got a reminder notice from the vet that Murphy’s due for his checkup, and they spelled his name “Murrphy,” which was the cause of much hilarity due to the onomatopoeic quality of the spelling.

    “Howya doin’, Murrrrrphy?”

  104. I just watched it again, and an observation: The eyes, they must squinch when the mouth opens, because the mouth opens SOOOOO WIIIIIIDE to get that peepy little “Mew” out that there’s no room for the eyes to stay open!

  105. My cat has gotten even more talkative now that she is the only cat. She’s very adamant in telling me .. something.. it usually goes something like this:
    What do you want?!
What do you want? I’d give you anything if I just knew what you want!

And if the phone rings she will leap onto my shoulder/chest/arm and YELL into the phone at whoever dares to call us.
She does it so suddenly I can’t even avoid it. I feel almost sorry for salespeople who have to talk to my cat.

  106. Why oh why can I not have a kitten of my very own?!?! And a video camera to go with it!!!!!!

  107. I love talking to cats… even better when they talk back=)

  108. Oh, maaaaaaaan, I keep watching this video again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, probably AT LEAST 20 times a day! LOL!

  109. Mary,
I’d hate to be a telemarketer calling your house. I’d be all WTF???!!! LOL!!!

  110. Aww, that was just awesomely cute ^_^’

I wish I could have one, but I frikkin’ have ALLERGIES .-.”’

Someone buy me a cat for easter. I’ll die.

I’m showing this video o everyone I come across. And they all say “AWESOME” over and over. Omt.

  111. So cute! I have a talk-back cat too. Pickles, my ginger buddy, has quite a range of meows and loves to chat. Of course, most conversations end with him jumping up and head-butting me, so I don’t know what that says about my accent 🙂

  112. Super kittie 🙂

  113. typical kitteh – always has to have the last word! too cute!!

  114. OMG!!!! I love the baby kitty SQUEAK!!!

  115. riolinda says:

    super cute! 🙂

  116. ScorpioSpirit says:

    It’s like my calendar says.
“there is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast…”

  117. Melinda says:

This is the cutest-est kitty ever.. I love the meawing – hehe soooooo sweet!!!

  118. LilKittieLuvr says:

OMG, head explosion from this little bebeh! I have convos like this with my baby Cleo all the time, he is a very insistent little boy, esp. around mealtime! Not fluent in kitteh speak yet, but he’s a good tutor 😉

  119. ~Cuddle~Ninja~ says:

    I want the kitty!!
Or at least a kitty that cute! <33
