A cousin-of-a-cousin of mine, whom I met maybe four times, used to have all sorts of weird pets. He was mainly interested in snakes, but he also had some other reptiles (lizards), a few exotic birds, and a “slow loris”, which is basically a type of sloth. (Which prompted one of the other cousins to comment, “I wonder if there’s a ‘fast loris’?”) Anyway, last I heard, this cousin-of-a-cousin, now all grown up, was a herpetologist at the National Zoo in Washington, DC.

This is definitely a first for me. I’ve never seen a sleepy baby sloth video before. Can’t say it’s cute or cuddly (definitely not cuddly given the claws), but it’s definitely adorable in its own kinda-ugly yet kinda-sweet sort of way.

I love me some kittehs. And fat little puppies who love everybody make me swoon. But this little guy actually brought me to tears with the cuteness. There’s a french word-phrase that the NE Francophones still use “jolie-laid” which literally means ‘pretty-ugly’. It makes perfect sense if you’ve seen Ron Perlman & the gigantic actor I have an equally huge crush on, John Desantis. They & this little guy have miles of character & I’ll take that over bimbo/himbo cuteness every day. So there!

This is so cute and kinda sad for some reason, it almost made me cry. Maybe because he doesn’t have a mom.

How can anything that slow and tie-tie be anything but adorable! Sloths are one of my all-time favorite animals.
It may be that this behbeh is in a box because of a rescue situtation. It’s a sad reality for sloths that their trees are often cut out from under them. Cudoes to the animal helpers involved if that’s the sitch.

Sloths are my favourite animals ever, ever.
And there’s no cruelty going on here either. This looks to be taken from a quite well-known sanctuary where orphaned baby sloths are looked after until they are good to go and be wild again.
Three-toed sloths are my slight favourites mind you – but this little chap is gorgeous!

I don’t see how people can be scared of sloths. Maybe it’s the claws?
