I shall leeck—YOUR HINEY

by Meg on January 29, 2007

Um, at Cute Overload, we make sure EVERY PIC packs a ponche. It’s go large or GO HOME, PEOPLE!This pic seriously delivers. As sender-inner Shianling K. points out:1. There is leecking involved2. Rule #2: Someone is looking heeelpless! [singsong]3. Rule #7: A thing, accompanied by a smaller version of that thing, is always cute4. Rule #1: Paws up (in this case, over eyes, with is even more points)5. Rule #17: Tiny ear action6. Rule #16: Keep your eyes at the height of your nose *and* have a five-head, (large forehead) and make sure your body is as tall as your head.7. Rule #15: small ear-to-head ratioLickin_a_hiney(Yes, I think Rules 15 and 17 are indeed the same) Derr!

That baby is all “Not in public, mom!!”

2 Julia2 01.29.07 at 2:39 am

EEeeee!!! What special cuteness gene did pandas evolve with? They really do never ever fail. The little one’s paws? man oh man..

3 Denita TwoDragons 01.29.07 at 2:40 am

Definitely right up there on all Rules….. mmmwwwwaaaa… way too cute

5 Karen 01.29.07 at 2:44 am

Oh my God. The picture has killed me.

6 Julia2 01.29.07 at 2:48 am

Oh yeah, and the tiny ear action being completely overcompensated for by Mom, gotta love it.

7 lauowolf 01.29.07 at 2:48 am

D’ya think pandas could give seminars to help cute-deprived creatures improve their public image?

I see mom and baby here demonstrating how it’s done to an audience of, say, possums, and all the little cute-challenged guys taking notes, and raising their peculier-fingered little paws with questions.

Some animal babies won’t urinate unless prompted by wetness in that region; thus mothers lick their babies there. Humans raising these babies can use warm wash cloths and the like to help stimulate urination. I learned that watching that _Growing Up…_ show on Animal Planet. They had some really cute baby animal on that show.
/The baby tiger falling asleep when his keeper is bathing him is funny.

9 martha in mobile 01.29.07 at 2:50 am

Doncha love how moms just go about doin what has to be done, no prob, no worries!

10 lauowolf 01.29.07 at 2:51 am

peculiAr.

I *can* spell.

(But half my brain is listening to The Magic Flute — does really silly count as cute?)

11 pookiepuff 01.29.07 at 2:52 am

The baby panda is saying “Mommy! Not now! You’re embarassing me!” hehe! I love pandas! ^-^

12 Yitzysmommie 01.29.07 at 2:53 am

OH! OH! OH! what’s the word for a seven-fecta???
Yitzy the Tuxie is twining himself around the laptop in enjoyment along with me.

13 lurkertype 01.29.07 at 2:56 am

Don’t miss the teeny tiny toes on the back foot! Eeee!

14 LillyG 01.29.07 at 2:57 am

what about New Rule: Exposed, Incredi-Soft Underbelly?

15 Perf 01.29.07 at 2:57 am

Ooooh! Little panda! Come home with me (after mom licks your butt).

I can confirm that licking-is-necessary-for-pooping observation by Fish Eye. When I fostered 3-day old orphaned kittens (aaawww), the shelter told me the momma would have licked their bottoms after every feeding to stimulate elimination. I was happy to feed them at 3:00 a.m., keep them as clean as possible, and give them all the lovin’ in the world…but I must say I drew the line at licking their bottoms. I’m here to tell you that a cotton ball dipped in warm water does wonders for the feline excretory system.

Props to Panda Momma for doing the job right!

16 AliceTanzer 01.29.07 at 3:05 am

I love how Panda’s have that pseudo-thumb action going on too.

17 Farhibide 01.29.07 at 3:10 am

He’s like “moooommm! People are waaatching!!!”

18 michellemybelle 01.29.07 at 3:24 am

Pandas are how China is taking over the world, peeps! Mark my words…

19 88 01.29.07 at 3:31 am

I like cheese.

20 Kate 01.29.07 at 3:40 am

Only a mother could love a child enough to lick it’s bum with abandon….
And that poor little thing looks like it’s going to scratch its own eyes out! Retract, retract!

21 Petafoo.com 01.29.07 at 3:41 am

It’s panda power!

Now these are some “Rules” I can follow!

23 skippy 01.29.07 at 3:53 am

careful with those claws, little panda — you might put your eyes out!

i never thought that much about pandas before starting to frequent cuteoverload. now, i am officially Partial to Pandas. yay!

24 carmen 01.29.07 at 4:04 am

omg so many rules are covered here! love pandas!

25 Cathy G. 01.29.07 at 4:08 am

I can just hear the little baby panda sounds!

26 musicchick2 01.29.07 at 4:21 am

The baby is definitely embarrassed… “Mooooooooom!!??? Geez!!”

Have you heard about the 18 baby pandas in China who need names by the end of the week? That Panda Palooza is here http://musicchick2.vox.com/library/post/love-baby-giant-pandas-name-them.html Tell us what YOU think their names should be! ;-D

27 pyrit 01.29.07 at 4:21 am

For sure, that’s a hiney only a mother could love.

“The panda that rocks the cradle is the panda that rules the world.”

(This would have been a perfect pic for Mother’s Day.)

28 musicchick2 01.29.07 at 4:24 am

Meg – should rules 15 & 17 be combined into one? Maybe even? Thereby giving us an open rule just BEGGIN’ to be filled!

29 dunkelxblau 01.29.07 at 5:00 am

I…am at a loss for words. This sets the precedent for all cute to follow. This should be displayed in open places in urban areas to instill calm. We can fix the world with this image!

30 wendy 01.29.07 at 5:02 am

Bebe panda has a perfect “Oh Noes!” face going on

31 Kay 01.29.07 at 5:11 am

“Mommmmmm, dees ees sooo embaressing! I shall cover my eyes and pretend you aren’t leekin my bootie in front of everyone.”

32 acelightning 01.29.07 at 5:14 am

I realize that they’re large, endangered animals, they’re not even bears, etc., etc. – but pandas just look SO MUCH like something you’d win at ring-toss at the county fair!

33 Suda Nim 01.29.07 at 5:22 am

I’ve said it before, I shall say it again:

PANDALOONS!

34 Annie 01.29.07 at 5:25 am

35 Erica 01.29.07 at 5:26 am

What about extra points for Mom’s fuzzy, droopy cheek poofles?

36 Martha in Washington 01.29.07 at 6:40 am

Miko- anyone with children, especially boys, knows that the best way to get a baby to pee is simply to remove their diaper. They are then like little geysers. ;)

Pands are the super-cuteist things in the whole world!!!

37 holli 01.29.07 at 8:02 am

Oh my dear DEAR!! I do agree with those rules, even if they do replicate. I don’t care. Especially the thing next to smaller version of thing, and paws over nose.

eek!

38 ka9q's wife 01.29.07 at 9:02 am

this is not a trifecta it is a heptafecta. Um sounds weird. I prefer just calling it a paragon of prosh or perhaps the archtype of adorable.

39 Subhangi 01.29.07 at 9:03 am

OMG Sweetness! Panda’s are the Gods of Cute.

Meg, you forgot one MAJOR rule – ROUNDNESS!!!

I love how embarrassed the little baby looks.

40 The Honourable Gladys Anstruther 01.29.07 at 10:32 am

Oh my God! now I think I am a reincarnation of a Panda. When I pee before bed and I want to get rid of that last little bit, so I don’t have to get up in the night, I’ve found by tickling my self above the bum (hiney) it restimulates the flow. oh by the way the bebe is only cleaning his sun glasses not scratching his eyes.

41 Blossom 01.29.07 at 10:35 am

This is so cute it made me weep! Thank you Meg for this wonderful website.

42 useta hada kitteh 01.29.07 at 1:09 pm

The Hon. G.A. — I don’t think I needed to know that…

Now, back to the picture above — Lookit teh PANDAS! I wanna hug them (well, maybe when they’re finished what they’re doin’, THEN I’ll hug them…) The baby is so sweet, and as many many peeps have said before me, so embarrassed!

43 blueberries4me 01.29.07 at 1:46 pm

LOVE the bebeh’s hair puffs.

44 dunkelxblau 01.29.07 at 2:01 pm

ka9q’s wife – EEE! A paragon of prosh! Too cute!

45 cristinutria 01.29.07 at 3:02 pm

“Panda Leeck” Diaper Wipes: better than other brands!

46 jenna 01.29.07 at 3:20 pm

woooo!! the baby panda is all – not in public, ma!! I’m so embarassed- I shall shameface!!

too cute!!!

47 BlurpleBerry 01.29.07 at 3:26 pm

Yay! I’ve been waiting for a new addition to the The Coveted Cuteness Trifecta™ category for ages! Woo-hoo!

48 A thinker 01.29.07 at 3:27 pm

I think this might even beat a kitten licking a puppy who’s licking a bunny. Baby pandy’s “appalled” expression is priceless.

49 Sissy 01.29.07 at 3:30 pm

Sooooo sweet! I luv Pandas…….

50 Moosie 01.29.07 at 4:02 pm

I lurves the fluffy ears! …the baby panda reminds me of when I had to take baths as a little kid – “Oh, when will it be over?”

51 Beauregard 01.29.07 at 6:21 pm

Fish Eye no Miko: you mentioned a part with baby tigers. Is that where the guy has them in a tub and the one is squirming and yelling and then the guy explains that all they have to do is rock him. Then he picks up the little dude by his armpitts and swings him and it sort of hypnotizes him and he falls asleep? Because I remember watching that and thinking it was the cutest baby animal thing EVER, but couldn’t remember the show.

52 someone who is saying this: 01.30.07 at 12:03 am

thats not licking the hiny!!!

53 georgia w. 01.30.07 at 1:43 am

I just love the word Hiney. lol…..great stuff here today. I don’t get emails anymore is it something i said? Love ya all. Georgia alias SweetMisery.

54 AuntieMame 01.30.07 at 6:12 am

Beauregard, that was from “The Awesome Pawsome,” about the tigers at Tiger Island in Australia.

55 Beauregard 01.30.07 at 2:06 pm

Oh thanks Mame! I will jot that down. :)

56 Leena 05.09.07 at 6:17 am
