Too mellow for words

by Meg on December 27, 2006

Do you think the white mouse has still ANOTHER, smaller animal on it’s back? That would be the best. These guys are all so peaceful when they’d prolly rather chomp on each other. Envision world peace, People. En-veeze-zhon eet!

Dogcatmouse

Way to submeet eet, Jennifer!

Looks like a cute stacker instead of a cute tracker. I wants to hug them all! EEEEEEEEE.

2 Arvay 12.27.06 at 11:56 pm

I’m sure he has mites.

I want a dawg like that. :)

3 BunRab 12.28.06 at 12:00 am

A new kind of trifecta!

4 Rosie 12.28.06 at 12:01 am

“they said WE couldn’t make the cheerleading team because we wouldn’t be able to d the pyramid…well we showed them!!!!”

5 Dustbunny 12.28.06 at 12:12 am

This pic is on MyYahoo too — the dog’s name is Booger, BTW. The cat’s is Kitty and the mouse is…Mousie!

6 Theo 12.28.06 at 12:14 am

Things… on top of other things… stacked…

7 Jen Barnett 12.28.06 at 12:16 am

I like how the mousie is the only one facing the camera, like he’s thee masteermind.

8 AuntieMame 12.28.06 at 12:16 am

Eee! I didn’t even see the mouse at first!

Cute stacker…LOL!

BFF!!!1!ELEVEN!!!

Is this the guy in Santa Cruz, CA? There is also another homeless man there who kinda exploits his cat for change. The cat chills in a bicycle basket with a sign that says “pennies for the kitty.” Gets me every time!

10 Lea 12.28.06 at 12:19 am

These guys hang out in Bisbee, Arizona. If you ever go, you should look for them.

11 Ant 12.28.06 at 12:19 am

There are more photographs at http://news.yahoo.com/photos/ss/events/lf/122606booger

Even two mice on the cat!

12 Roberta 12.28.06 at 12:23 am

is it me? or is that cat strapped to the dog? at any rate; it is a great totem.

13 lois 12.28.06 at 12:23 am

this is the guy from Bisbee, and there are actually three mice!

14 sandie 12.28.06 at 12:26 am

This looks like the same dog/cat combo featured for like 2 seconds in this youtube vid taken by my husband! (no mouse though!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o67ph0DAMDk

15 Tigeress 12.28.06 at 12:30 am

Yeah, they look like they’re strapped together like some funky type of luggage. “Dog bags and kitty carry-ons for all your luggage needs. Mouse accessory extra.”

16 blackcat 12.28.06 at 12:35 am

The dog has a harness, the cat has a harness, does the mouse have a harness too?

17 Fable 12.28.06 at 12:38 am

nah! Mouse are like rodent and they eat of your walls and make everything look so fragile…

I don’t usually post but this reminds me of my pets when I was a teen. I had a German Shepherd who would hold the leash of my Doc a Poo while my tiny monkey rode on the Shepherd’s back. Our nightly walks were quite a sight. Later, this same Shepherd shared a large doghouse with the Doc a Poo, a kitten and a rabbit. That was before I started keeping my cats indoors. This is just too adorable. Now, I consider it a good day when my four cats just ignore each other.

19 graefix 12.28.06 at 1:07 am

This guy used to hang out in Telluride, Colorado. He would let tourists take pictures, and they would leave tips in a bucket for him (looks like he has a hat for tips, now). The cat is exceptionally mellow.

20 lurkertype 12.28.06 at 1:20 am

This is perilously close to the fabled “perfect CO post” of kitten licks puppy licks bunny.

I’m visualzing whirled peas… as soup, with maybe a little bacon…

You know how they say people/their pets start to look alike after a while? I think the kitteh’s jowls are much like the doggeh’s.

Anyway, Teh Qte is strong with this one. Spread it around the world, peeps!

Same mouse, on the same kitty, on the same dog, here on stuffonmycat.com:

There’s a tiny flea on the mouse’s back. But it’s wearing a tiny polka-dot bowtie, for cute effect. At least it’s trying, I guess.

And the flea has a tiny pink mite on its back, which has an even smaller itty-bitty little tiny piece of flowery dust on its back.

Fractal cuteness.

23 Faye 12.28.06 at 4:42 am

There’s a fly on the mousie’s back with a human head. It’s yelling, “Help Me, Help Me” over and over but we cannot hear it over the internets!

24 Theo 12.28.06 at 5:02 am

No more Simpsons for Faye. Yeeps.

25 ccj 12.28.06 at 6:08 am

um. “its” in the possessive doesn’t take an apostrophe…

26 Denita TwoDragons 12.28.06 at 6:23 am

But “It’s” is a contraction of “It is”, ccj… Just like “Don’t” is shortened from “Do not”. The apostrophe is there to show that it’s subbing for extra letters.

This belongs in “The Napping House”!

28 Amanda 12.28.06 at 7:01 am

I’ve seen this guy in Boulder, Colorado.

29 ab 12.28.06 at 8:04 am

I think this is cute but also really troubling. It seems very uncomfortable for the animals.

30 minnesnowtah 12.28.06 at 11:10 am

Nah, they’re comfterbuls. They ain’t tied to each other, they’re just stacked.
Juuust chillin’.
Yeah, looking at this picture, I DO get trippin’ on whirled peas, man.

We gotta do a Cute Overload Xtreme Close Up on the mouse. Just like the dog-dude and the cat-dude, I bet the mouse-man has a “Whatcha lookin’ at?” look on his jowly face.

Chill dudes. Peas out!

Postscript:
I knew Teh Qte was addicting, but I didn’t know it could give psychedelic experiences involving flying legumes!
Hello, Cuteaholics Anonymous? I need rehab. Gimme that seal robot.

Again, any wonder I love this site?

This pic is so utterly redonk and so utterly wonderful

I believe that the dog views this situation as the ultimate in trail rations. Not only does he have a cat for snacking, but the cat has some snacks too to keep up his bulk.

That, or the mouse lives in a bad neighborhood, and figured that coming into town riding on a cat, who himself rides on a dog, would be good for his street cred. The dog, on the other hand, can’t face other dogs in public.

33 Pstlyfdiva 12.28.06 at 3:46 pm

I saw this guy in Bisbee, AZ last year!

34 becky 12.28.06 at 4:05 pm

OMG!!! too cute for words!

35 Princess 12.28.06 at 5:02 pm

Just beautiful!! If only humans could also get along this same way.

36 Subhangi 12.28.06 at 5:16 pm

CATS n’ STACKS! YAY!!!

37 Stoo 12.28.06 at 5:57 pm

I wonder if Mousie has little jowls too?

38 Ann 12.28.06 at 6:23 pm

I think I see a baby tree frog on Mousie’s back!!

39 Ann 12.28.06 at 6:23 pm

Hahahaahhaa Made ya look!

40 April 12.28.06 at 6:30 pm

This guy must be quite a traveler! I’ve seen him in Santa Fe, New Mexico as well.

41 Sam 12.28.06 at 6:57 pm

I think that picture is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!

42 Elizabeth 12.28.06 at 9:25 pm

These guys used to live in Santa Fe, NM. I’d see them on the Plaza all the time. If tourists wanted to take pictures he’d have to stop the trio in the shade because the cat would jump off if they stopped in the sun. He always has a couple of mice with him because he has to keep training them up – life expectancy is lower than felines and canines, of course!

43 Hattes 12.28.06 at 9:51 pm

Oh, and I’m hearing my brother listening to Imagine in the background… perfect. =)

44 ccj 12.29.06 at 12:38 am

Um, yes, that makes sense: “on it is back.” Thanks… (?!)

45 Faye 12.29.06 at 2:41 am

Is attempted punctuation correction cute? Maybe I should have typed “It is yelling…” I guess corrections are cute on Cute Overload where everything is cute cute cute.

Martha in Washington: I was trying to think of the title of that book. I used to read it in story time as a children’s librarian. Kids loved that book as a read aloud.

47 Wendy 12.29.06 at 7:03 am

The owner’s name is Greg Pike.

There used to be a bird with the mice as well, but unfortunately they died in a fire coming back from Sturgis.http://www.svherald.com/articles/2006/09/16/local_news/news11.txt

I had a piccie of the dog-cat-mouse-bird snoozing in the December sunshine on my blog:
http://www.lanasdelibelula.com/blog/2005/12/13/113449825825135315/

I don’t know if he has a new bird.

48 Gillian 12.29.06 at 7:10 pm

YAY!

Stackable Pets!!

49 o 12.29.06 at 11:45 pm

There’s a huge “multi-gaaalgh factor” in this picture.

50 Martha in Washington 12.30.06 at 4:31 am

Faye-I love Don and Audrey Woods. My kids have most of their books. “Piggies” being a favorite.

51 angie 12.30.06 at 9:00 am

haha, it looks as though the dog is thinking “wtf are you making me do…” as well as the cat.

52 AmyH 12.31.06 at 7:18 am

When I first saw this menagerie in Bisbee last year, I was concerned about the cat and mouse being strapped on tight for the sake of tourist tips. Nope, the cat does have a harness but can jump on and off the dog at will. I can’t remember if the mouse is attached to anything but yes, they are all that mellow. It is Bisbee, after all. Its neighbor up the road, Tombstone, may be the “Town too Tough to Die”. Bisbee is the “Town too High to Care”.
It’s a great place. You should visit.

53 Monique 12.31.06 at 9:29 pm

This guy may live in Bisbee now but I saw him a couple of months ago in Tucson, where I guess he was staying for a little while as I saw him and heard from others who had seen him taking them out for a stroll.

54 Amanda 01.02.07 at 4:34 pm

This guy is in Bisbee, AZ. I first thought it was adorable and great that he used these “trained” animals to raise money for the Bisbee Animal Shelter (as I was told) but later found out that he really just keeps the money for himself. He also at one point had a bird and more mice, but when his borrowed camper trailer caught on fire he left them inside but saved the cat and dog because they made him more money and he could “get more mice and birds”. I’ve lost all respect for the man because he is doing nothing but carelessly exploiting these animals for his own pathetic benefit.

55 sarah 03.18.07 at 9:21 pm

this guy travels around a lot he took some time to train them but he makes a lot of money from it now, hes in Boulder, CO a lot

56 Lanna 04.01.07 at 10:28 pm

Aww. I saw this guy with his pet sideshow in Telluride, CO in the summer of 2000. I’ve got a picture sitting in my hallway right now. He seemed pretty nice to me. Didn’t charge me for taking a picture.

You can see several pictures on flickr if you search “dog cat mouse”
