4 Christine 12.05.06 at 3:53 pm

Unfortunately, this is not the type of glogg that my dad makes every year.

5 pd 12.05.06 at 3:56 pm

Nice bowl!

6 useta hada kitteh 12.05.06 at 3:56 pm

7 kk 12.05.06 at 4:00 pm

Aw, how adorable. They’re all facing different directions. By the way, any more hidden at the back?

8 Denise in Nebraska 12.05.06 at 4:01 pm

Quick! Someone grab the nutmeg, and hand it to our nut, Meg (who provides us with such wonderful holiday “beverages”)!!! Love it!!!

13 NebraskaErin 12.05.06 at 4:12 pm

Awww! I love the little guy top center. He looks suspicious.

14 Robbie 12.05.06 at 4:14 pm

Here’s to you as good as you are,
Here’s to me as bad as I am,
But as good as you are
And as bad as I am
I’m as good as you are
As bad as I am.

*A nice Irish toast to start off the pugg glogging*

15 Laurie C 12.05.06 at 4:14 pm

Is that guy second from the right snoozing? He’s all, “It’s warm and cozy, I’m good. Zzzzz…”

16 ali 12.05.06 at 4:19 pm

“mmmmm…fuzzy….”

17 Holly 12.05.06 at 4:22 pm

That is absolutely darling. I wonder how many people it took to keep them all in the bowl.

18 AlbertaGirl 12.05.06 at 4:27 pm

The perfect holiday centrepiece!

19 PuppyMomma 12.05.06 at 4:29 pm

Now that is a bowl full of CUTE!!!

23 Donna 12.05.06 at 4:52 pm

I think we need a new adjective: an ‘overwhelm’ of puppies.

24 pugmamatimestwo 12.05.06 at 5:02 pm

BABIES!!! I’ll take a big old lovin’ spoonful :) :)

25 shanchan 12.05.06 at 5:20 pm

31 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 5:36 pm

There nothing I like better than a serving of warm pug punch – or whatever house ‘tock the barman recommends – at my favorite pug pub.

32 girlnextdoor 12.05.06 at 5:42 pm

they’re smooshy. I luff them.

33 Wendy 12.05.06 at 5:43 pm

OH.

MY.

GOODNESS!

How dewicious!

I wanna bite dey wittew pug noses!

34 CornedBee 12.05.06 at 5:44 pm

Two rules of cuteness (pile of cute things increases cuteness exponentially and dangling paws). Not bad at all.
Actually, I would expand the rule, since I don’t think the dogs would be cute individually:
“A heap of animals is cute, no matter what.”

And how about a new category for piles of animals?

35 Laurie C 12.05.06 at 5:57 pm

New British pub name: The Pug and Bowl

36 Jasper 12.05.06 at 5:59 pm

How did they get them to stay in the bowl long enough to get that shot?

37 Jasper 12.05.06 at 6:03 pm

Who wants a cup of Pugnog?

38 Theo 12.05.06 at 6:04 pm

[raises paw]

39 EricaE 12.05.06 at 6:07 pm

Awwwww! That’s adorabowl! … pun intended.

40 pyrit 12.05.06 at 6:07 pm

D2D – You pulled the pug out from under me with that one.

Laurie C- I love British pub names. I have always wanted to open one called The Dog and Fog. Pug and Bowl works too.

41 Theo 12.05.06 at 6:16 pm

“A LADLE HELP HERE?”

42 paula 12.05.06 at 6:18 pm

The widdle one reaching for the ladle is all “eeeehhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnn – almost got it!” I wuv dem!

43 shanchan 12.05.06 at 6:27 pm

*clink* Cheers pyrit!

The puns! The puns! I just can’t get a handle on ‘em.

44 Arvay 12.05.06 at 6:27 pm

I can never decide whether pugs are cute or ugly. But I certainly want to hug them and squish their paws and pat their fat bellies and pinch their neck rolls!

And after the MIB movies, I expect them to talk!

45 pyrit 12.05.06 at 6:30 pm

Theo – Teh caps makel my pupils diladle. (You know I’m being sarcastic when I type in black.)

46 abeth 12.05.06 at 6:39 pm

I’M IN UR PUNCH BOWL
SIPPIN UR NOG

47 Lauri 12.05.06 at 6:43 pm

Gaaaaahahahaha! Great great post and pic and comments, peeps!

Best one of teh holiday season, but the season is young!

The Pug and Mug is poifect, Laurie C!
I always wanted to have a pub called the Frank and Stein.

A properly prodigious porceline pug pile!

48 Lauri 12.05.06 at 6:45 pm

…..six pugs a-punchin’.

49 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 6:54 pm

I have a little ladle
It’s made, I think, of clay
And when it serves the pugs up
Then with them I shall play!

50 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 7:07 pm

You know, it’s fun to laugh and jest.

But these pug youths – so tragic to see pups in their cups at such a young age – you know tonight will stagger into the cold, looking for a bed in some fleabag motel…

I am not nuffing her, only speaking my beliefs as the founder of P.F.P: Peeptotalers For Pets.

Keep your animals dry!

(and warm!)

51 Theo 12.05.06 at 7:14 pm

Hell yeah, Lauri! Hot dogs & beer!

Aubrey — you’re going to hurt yourself.

52 Snorglit 12.05.06 at 7:19 pm

Yummmm. Pugnog is the perfect complement to Klipspringer cookies.

53 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 7:19 pm

Yes, T., but a little stretching in the morning is always good for you.

54 pyrit 12.05.06 at 7:27 pm

Theo – UR hurting my k’snurting.

55 Alison 12.05.06 at 7:34 pm

Hey! Rule #9 to cuteness!

56 Alice 12.05.06 at 7:46 pm

That ladle is as big as their heads. SO TINY!

57 Conqbine 12.05.06 at 7:47 pm

Ok now I know u must be swedish :P

Fuzzy glogg ftw!

58 pyrit 12.05.06 at 8:17 pm

It’s the Tampa Bay Puganeers vs the Puggalo Bills in the Super Bowl. Pugskin down on the 6. Multiple offense. Too many pugs on the field. Face mask! Great, AND a free agent.

59 EricaE 12.05.06 at 8:19 pm

Puggless Glogg

One 750-ml bottle dry and fruity red wine, like Pinot Noir or Zinfandel
One 750-ml bottle port
Half 750-ml bottle cognac, brandy, rum, or vodka
Zest of 1 orange
10 cardamom pods
2 cinnamon sticks
10 cloves
5 slices fresh ginger
Sugar to taste
1 cup raisins
1 cup blanched slivered almonds

Combine wine, port, spirit, orange zest, and spices in saucepan, along with 2 cups water; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Cool, cover, and refrigerate overnight, at least 12 hours. Strain the mixture, then reheat (do not boil) and add sugar. Add the raisins and almonds (you might put a teaspoonful in each glass) and serve hot. …are any of those close enough?

62 Theo 12.05.06 at 8:40 pm

Pyrit, you’re going to k’snurt yourself.

63 Lauri 12.05.06 at 8:40 pm

Umlauts! Dragees!

Aubrey, you are an inspiration as usual, dear! :)

Wow, that grogg recippe is going to get tried out this season, EricaE! It sounds goooood!

64 Theo 12.05.06 at 8:41 pm

Not grog, silly. That’s watered-down rum (or rummed-up water).

65 lauowolf 12.05.06 at 8:58 pm

100 ladles of pugs in the bowl
100 ladles of pug
Take one down, and pass him around
99 ladles of pug in the bowl

Hey, someone’s already been at these pugs, and hasn’t been sharing.

66 acm 12.05.06 at 9:14 pm

pugnog!! spiff!

67 little gator 12.05.06 at 9:14 pm

Why is it reaching for the ladle? Is it gogin to hit the other puggies with it?

68 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 9:36 pm

If that’s so, little gator, then with good reason would anyone be agog at a dog in grog.

pyrit, you’ve reminded me – does anyone know when the Puppy Bowl airs next year?

69 lurkertype 12.05.06 at 9:38 pm

RE: pub names, don’t forget the fabled “Frog and Peach”.

Man, I bought me some glogg mix at IKEA a couple days ago, and there was not even a suggestion that you could mix it with piles o’ pugs!

(And, yes, ever since MIB, I expect them to have tough-guy voices too)

+1 for Thalia’s excess umlautage.

70 Teughcats 12.05.06 at 9:50 pm

Aubrey – isn’t Puppy Bowl the same day as Super Bowl? Even the same time?

71 michellemybelle 12.05.06 at 9:55 pm

I saw an ad for the Puppy Bowl – it’s February 4. They’re also adding Tail Gating this year, FYI.

I want this centerpiece for my table. NOW!

72 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 9:59 pm

(lunching – looks up from a decent frog and a nice bit of peach)

You say something, LT?

73 Theo 12.05.06 at 10:12 pm

I *do* hope that frog was crunchy.

74 Laura 12.05.06 at 10:13 pm

Best. Caption. Ever.

Umlauts make EVERYTHING awesome!

But “pugnog” is awesome too.

75 Positive Jube 12.05.06 at 10:18 pm

Pug-a-lug everyone!

love the doily too *singsong*

76 Redzilla 12.05.06 at 10:26 pm

Here we come a’puggailing
Among the tails so curled…

77 Redzilla 12.05.06 at 10:27 pm

Speaking of hurting your k’snurting, does anyone else remember how the limerick goes that ends:
You’re shirkin your firkin, you bastard.

78 Lauri 12.05.06 at 10:28 pm

ROFL, PosJube!

I love you guys!! *sloshes pugs everywhere*

79 zelda 12.05.06 at 10:38 pm

Thank you, Meg! This made my day! PUG LUV!

80 Aubrey 12.05.06 at 10:42 pm

Teughcats, I think you’re right – what a fabulously outlandish piece of scheduling!

Redz, I Googled that line…naughty, naughty!

And T., those chocs are for dessert.

81 Wolverine Librarian 12.05.06 at 10:55 pm

I believe the limerick goes thusly:
Let us now broach a lurkin to Derkin
Addicted to jerkin his gherkin
His wife said, “Now Derkin,
By jerkin your gherkin
you’re shirkin your firkin, you bastard.

82 Redzilla 12.05.06 at 11:14 pm

Huh, wonder why I didn’t google it? Oh, ’cause then I wouldn’t have had an excuse to make everyone else learn the limerick. (Evil deed for the day–check.)

83 DLT 12.05.06 at 11:15 pm

wolverine librarian, i just peed myself.

:bows to you:

85 Wolverine Librarian 12.05.06 at 11:38 pm

Just a regular reference question in the life of a librarian. No question too bawdy or off-color. You’ve got to be able to keep a straight face when patrons come in and ask for a color atlas of STDs.

86 terramia 12.05.06 at 11:39 pm

Ohhhhh… I just love your site. Keep em coming.. meets my daily dose of tickles and cuteness!

87 Lauri 12.05.06 at 11:43 pm

Lol, wonderful, Wolverine Librarian!

Um, Wolverine, as in Ann Arbor?

88 Theo 12.05.06 at 11:48 pm

I was kinda hoping for Wolverine, as in adamantium-reinforced skeleton coupled with a massively enhanced capacity for healing.

89 R. Moore 12.06.06 at 12:07 am

I know what I want for Christmas!

Mua ha ha, The best part is, if a puppy like that “mysteriously” showed up Christmas morning, no one at my house would have the heart not to keep them… (raises eyebrows)

90 Wolverine Librarian 12.06.06 at 12:19 am

As in Michigan. I work in the Bermuda triangle of College sports. I have Fighting Irish to the south, Spartans to the north and Wolverines to the East.
(Whispers) My first crush was Wolverine of course I was 9. My friends first crush was Scooby Doo

91 Brak_Silverbone 12.06.06 at 12:19 am

The one in front with his arm hanging out is all like, “… Wait, what? How’d I end up here?”

I desperately want to beep each and every pug right on the nose.

92 Wolverine Librarian 12.06.06 at 12:41 am

I’m curious, why is there a sidebar link to the “Daily Kitten” but not the “Daily Puppy”?

93 Redzilla 12.06.06 at 1:17 am

WolvLib: My first crush as Nightcrawler. I was 8.

94 Theo 12.06.06 at 1:25 am

For Wolvereference:

99 ulrike 12.06.06 at 11:27 am

as a pug mom…i am in love!

100 Wolverine Librarian 12.06.06 at 12:35 pm

Thanks for the link, I visit the “Daily Puppy” as a three part rotation during day between the daily kitten, puppy, and CO. I was just wondering why it’s not quick linked here like the “kitten” is.

101 ceejoe 12.06.06 at 1:02 pm

WLibrarian – you should add stuffonmycat.com to your day and make it a four part rotation. It’s another awesome site!

102 Theo 12.06.06 at 3:16 pm

Wolvie — it’s quick-linked *now*.
It’s only fair; they have Cute Overload in *their* quick links.

103 katherine 12.06.06 at 3:36 pm

I dunno — I think they’re kind of pugly.

104 pyrit 12.06.06 at 4:01 pm

I love stuffonmycat!!!!!
“mind control pancake” = I laughed for 2 weeks straight. Oh no, just thinking about it . . .

105 bee 12.06.06 at 5:08 pm

they have like 9 and i don’t have any.
hardly seems fair…

106 LB in Cali 12.06.06 at 6:13 pm

I heard of spiking the punch but this is redonk.

107 Benita 12.06.06 at 9:16 pm

Never heard of puppy soup before. The puppies are cute by the way.

108 Alma Jones 12.06.06 at 10:39 pm

this is so ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

109 Theo 12.07.06 at 2:38 am

Sticks and stones, Alma Jones.

110 katherine 12.07.06 at 3:41 pm

(I really think they’re cute, I just wanted to add to the PUNchbowl too)

111 O 12.07.06 at 5:34 pm

The secret to a delicious Yuletide NOG, is to put a little less egg, and a little more PUG!

Mmmmm delish!

112 Jon 12.08.06 at 3:07 pm

The Marx Brothers did a film called Duck Soup….this is a great photo for the remake…Dog Soup.
