  3. useta hada kitteh says:

Look at the cutie babbeh! I can’t stand it. The teensy earses, the teensy all-of-it… oh my.

I’d beep that little nose, but “beep nose” is not my department…

  4. Meaghan says:

That hammie is tiny enough to squeeze through that person’s ring!

One of my comments was stopped for a ticket, and this is what it said.

    “If you’re a no-spam commenter, prove you’re a human BELOW.”

    Freudian slip, there. ;)

  10. Redzilla says:

I would scoop Hammi wan Kenobi up and snorgle him, but in that first picture he seems to be using some kind of paralyzing Ham-Jedi mind trick on me.
“This is not the hammie you’re wanting to snorgle.”

  11. ShelleyTambo says:

    sniff sniff…miss my bebeh gerbils.

  12. Dannee says:

Look at the wee squinty eyes! “Neh? Must I really be up this early? I’m cute all hours of the day.”

  13. Mary says:

Oh! It’s not safe out here for such a tiny little hammie. Let me put it in my mouf where it will be safe!

  14. Swistle says:

    Mmmm, one perfect little mouthful.

  15. zelda says:

Hammies, gerbils, mice, rats… they’re all tewtally snorgalicious! This lil’fella is SAWEEET!

  16. A thinker says:

    GAH!!

I think “being so young that you look really confused” should be a new rule of cuteness.

And in other musings, why do people feel compelled to point out that their comment is first? Surely it seems rather obvious and un-noteworthy…

  17. kAR says:

Anyone else wanna lift that lit’l baby out of the cage? I know he’s fine but he looks like he’s gonna flounder and get lost around in those shavings.

  18. LeFox says:

…GAH. I have no words for this one. Just… gah. He’s all “rawr!” in the first picture, ready to take on the world.

    After a quick drink.

  19. Pheas says:

  23. Zhandarq says:

Oh dear. Oh my. The weeness and the teeniness of zee leetle hammidude (or hammidudette) and yes the wonderfully-toed small darlin’tooties would certainly fit through the ring on the person’s hand who is holding the dear sweetiness and oh yowies, teh whompingly out-of-control cute attack I’m having!

Why is it I lose about 40 points of IQ whenever I come to CO? Intellect gurgling happily out mah EARS, People. And I jes’wipe it up and wring it back out into my brain for the next time.

  26. rpennefe says:

    First of all – OMG!

I have seen some serious cute here before, but this little fellow has stolen my heart. (I wonder where he hid it…I am gonna need it back really soon.)

Secondly, I shall now wax didactic over the “First Post” phenomenon.

Not that I am condoning the “First Post” claims that some (lucky) people submit, I think I understand it.

For me, it is like this:

*I* know that Meg has seen the cute, recognized the cute, and posted the cute all before I become a witness to the cute.

When I see that there are no comments posted, I still hurry to be “first”.

(Since I am rarely in the position where there are no comments posted, I am saved from temptation.)

In MHO, the insanity surrounding the “First Post” position has to do with wanting to be recognized as a high ranking member of the cult of cute.

“My name is rpennefe. I have the strength of my belief in power of cute. While Meg is our high priestess, I, too, am blessed with the ability to sense “teh cute”. Witness my being first to post….”

At least…that’s how I see it.

  33. Aubrey says:

I never knew why it was considered bad to be ham-handed. Looking at the first picture, I find it kind of delightful.

  34. Tiffany says:

In that first one, he’s all like “bring it.” So tiny yet so fierce…very cute.

  35. equus says:

  38. Meg says:

i heart da baby hammie ham!

  39. Martha in Washington says:

I could just eat him up with a spoon-that way he won’t squish when I pick him up.

  40. tomi says:

    I agree with

“I think “being so young that you look really confused” should be a new rule of cuteness.”

When they’re real young. they don’t KNOW ANYTHING, which leads to a certain dazed look…not unlike my own, but I’m sooooo old….

  41. Lisa says:

    Oy.

  42. Claire says:

Le sigh. I love teh hammies and I love them gooood. Baby dwarf hamsters completely define redonk and anerable <3

  43. Ponygirl says:

So small I want to eeeeat him!

  44. Violet's mama says:

OMG! Hammie is too cute for words! He inspired me to make my first post on CO! I thought of getting a puppy for my daughter, but maybe a dwarf hammie instead? I could eat him up.

His expression is exactly like the one my cat Violet gets when she’s “making biscuits,” all serene-like.

  45. Sue says:

Are you sure these are babeh gerbils, I’ve raised many gens of gerbil babies and they look just like this??

  46. Theresa says:
