Does this make anyone else want to go see “Happy Feet”?

  3. Babeh pengeh! I lof you so.

  4. I want one of those. Just to snorgle it for a minute or forever!!!

  5. Thanks, CO.
Now I want to go see “Happy Feet”. In IMAX.
And buy “March of the Penguins”

    *tinyfluffyfloppylimbseep*

  6. ::huggles:: my furry lil friend …

  7. All pingwings OWN me. They know this and I know this.

  8. Sigh. I wonder what penguin fur feels like… snuggle snuggle.

  9. NebraskaErin says:

Is CO posting all my favorite animules today because it’s my birthday? I have yet to see kittehs or bunnehs today, otherwise, Meg, you’re spot on!

I have a rather large pengie collection. I would like to add these two.

And the lambies to my mom’s lamb collection.

And the puppeh just to snorgle at whim.

What a cute birthday it’s been!

  10. aww pengwins! There were some tropical penquins at our Hotel in Hawaii…I had never heard of them! They were right outside the front of the hotel so each time we left or arrived I had to visit the little guys. The best was when they were sleeping! They SNORED!

  11. HAPPY FEET!! I can’t wait to see that movie!! Pengueeeeens are my PASSION!! Cute and furry, Awwwww!

  12. It’s a happy baby who has a nice mummy or daddy to snuggle.

    Little pengie looks uber-content.

  13. Skipper: “I want you to act cute and cuddly, boys, cute and cuddly. Just smile and wave. Looks like we’ll be having ice-cold sushi for breakfast!” (Kowalski! Who’s the little guy?)

  14. musicchick2 says:

Awww… a precious moment captured on film. Makes ya’ feel all warm & fuzzy inside. I needed that today. Thanks Meg.

  15. Adult penguin feathers aren’t actually that soft. I don’t know about babies, but they just have to be soft! They’re like baby chicks time ten.

  16. “tiny_boks_of_luv”….heehee :)

  17. chet's momma says:

when I saw march O’ the penguins, I wanted to high-tail it to the Arctic plains to build a shelter for these guys! I guess they are ok, after all, but the weather seems so darn harsh for these cuties!

  18. chet's momma says:

  23. The more I see and read about Penguins, the more I fall in love with them. Such sweet creatures.

  24. Shanchan — penguins feel like plushy stuffed animals. We had one here at work one time to promote SeaWorld. Unfortunately, when nature calls, it smells like (you guessed it) dead fish. I think the fluffatude is worth it though.

  25. If you go to the Boston Aquarium and you’re leaning over to look down into the penguin pool to watch feeding time and your sunglasses fall in, don’t worry, the penguin personnel will get them for you, after letting the penguins check to see if they are polar-ized.

  26. I think that I shall never see
Posts as lovely as this I see.

Wee penguin with hungry mouth prest
    Against his mum’s white feathery breast;

A post that cheers throughout the day,
With penguin purrs as if to say:

“By Summertime alone I’ll fare -
Till then with you this ‘berg I’ll share.

Our cold iceberg where snow has lain
Upon our home that we have claimed.”

Poems are just rewrit by fools like me,
But I’m at work – my time ain’t free.

  27. Me too Aubrey

  28. Awwwww, such beautiful sweetness!

    Nice poet-work, Aubrey! :)

  29. Brilliant as usual, Aubrey!

  30. “Maw, it’s cold out here.”

“Just stay by me, honey, the bus will be along any minute.”

  31. That’s exactly what they are saying, EliottM!

  32. Ok, so I followed Meg’s instructions and strained my ears, but all I heard was…

“Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? DAD!?”
    “[sigh]What is it, son?”
“Dad…I’m freezing out here. Can I come and sit on your feet and hide under your belly flab? Please, Dad. Please?”
“No you can’t – you’re too big for that now. Why don’t you go and play with the other children?”
    “Awwww, Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaad…”[teenytinypenguinsulk]

  33. Dammit, ElliotM – great minds really DO think alike!! :D

  34. you guys r silly says:

    awwww……
    hims lubs his mama…..
    &:o)

  35. “Dad, that was NOT funny! You take me to a school and all I see are other kids! That’s not the kind of school I was talking about! Where’s breakfast?”

  36. Sweet loving baby!

  37. AliciaSqueek says:

*explodes* I love ze penguins…I cried when i saw March of the Penguins (much to the hubbys embarassment) and we’re seeing Happy Feet in Imax. I want to huggle all ze wee pengies of the world.
    ‘specially these snuggle-monsters. *squeek*

  38. wow, not only a soft cuddly penguin but the return of TJ as well?

not that I think the two are related – damn, I need to start drinking or something – I’d probably make more sense

  39. Arbed. Puddin deprivation – I’m taken by surprise, not having any on hand. However I have some double-chocolate-coconut-peanut-butter-chip cookies that I made, and a couple should set you up. (wheels out cookie cannon)

Now – this post. It’s the purest explanation of The Power Of The Penguin. The penguin can bring joy to anyone. ANYONE. And if that isn’t power, I don’t know what is.

  40. Awww, I can almost feel the fuzzy softness!

  41. Aubrey – to heck with making cookies with that stuff. Let me just get myself into position here…. … o-ay, ust ohr it ihn ere!

  42. ohdammitall, I forgot about the pointy bracket thingies being bad – this was in the middle of my comment, before the pour it in here part lol – “adjusts back of office chair to semi-recline position, head back, sticks roll pillow behind neck for support, arms and legs braced, mouth wide open”

  43. Just FYI, that photo is from Frans Lanting’s “Penguin” book of photography.

  44. “We are the nation of the teeny weeny piddily diddily poof!” – Happy Feet..
    It’s so freakin’ cute..
    *s’plodes*

  45. I can heer heem!! *purrr squack purrrr*

I demand a baby pen’gin to snorgle alllll day long! And chase him around very slowly so I can watch him wobble!

  46. Frans Lanting! I’ve been trying to remember his name for weeks. Thanks.

  47. I fink dis behbeh pingu disapproves. I fink it disapproves of regurgitated shrimp and krill. I fink it wants teh Frosted Flakes and Ice Krispies.

  48. Aubrey, nice poe-tree.

Teej, brilliant dialogue! Not quite alike…

And pyrit, I’ve been to the Boston Aquarium! By any chance are you near meeeeee? (singsong)

(email if you don’t want to answer publicly)

  49. PENGIES!!!

    *ahem* that is all.

  50. Beeehehehehe….Frosted Flakes and Ice Krispies! You are deh funny, pyrit!

That’s fine for breakfast, but what would he have for avalunch?

  51. awww…. soft fuzzy baby penguin! :)

  52. Aubrey, those cookies sound awesome; where did you get the recipe?

  53. The Manolo, he is in on penguin cuteness:
    http://shoeblogs.com/wordpress/2006/11/13/teeny-little-shoes/

  54. “I have a rather large pengie collection.”

Whoa. You do not even want to know how I read that.

Nice baby pengie by the way.

  55. This picture is adorable. I have a friend with Down’s Syndrome who is so proud of the fact that she walks like a penguin. She and I giggle about it, because I kind of do too.

  56. HOLY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
That is so adorable!!! It makes me melt…
I am so waiting for Happy Feet too~

  57. YAY PENG’INS!

And now, for some mostly-gratuitous YouTube links:

    Enjoy!

  58. Lauri -

What about an ice-berger for lunch? With a slice of cheddar freeze? Lett-ice?

  59. Aubrey-
Hasta be iceberg lett-ice, of course.

  60. But of course! With french fr-ice on the side.

  61. It is adorable, but that chick is about 5x the size of newly hatched chick, so no newborn.
I know Emperor penguins only from Frans Lanting photos, haven`t see any movies mentioned here. It is really cute how parents keep little chicks warm by “standing on them”, with chick covered with fold of belly of the parent. THOSE photos are seriously adorable!

  62. KittinKapitan! The two things are in fact directly connected, but we can’t talk too loudly about that… ;)

Can’t believe that no-one has mentioned PINGU yet!!
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=hDQU13ypFWY

  63. Happy birthday NebraskaErin!! It’s mine too! Other than having to work, it’s all good. Lovin’ all these great posts. Aww to de bebeh penguin.

  64. I swear, I saw that pic and the bass intro from “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder started playing in my head.

  65. Oh, yes, Happy Birthday to NebErin and soxfan!

  66. PENGUIIIIINS!!!

Sorry. ^_^ But there’s just not enough penguin on CO!

    *loves penguins*

  67. Pyrit & TeeJay — a little bit o’ language barrier for yas.

Apparently, Wobert kan smuggle doilies under watter.

  68. Teh-O! It’s not the doilies I’m worried about, but I’ll stop there, given that this is a family site…

  69. bunnajenny says:

    Happy Birthdays NebraskaE and Soxfan!

TJ, I thought you were talking about this pingu: http://www.play.vg/games/116-Smack%20the%20Pingu.html

Yours is much cuter. Mine reflects my deep dark secret that I’m a leetle bit afraid of da pengins. We’ve had a copy of March of the Penguins downstairs for about 6 weeks and I begin to get all nervous when busband thinks about watching it. It’s rapidly approaching my Wizard of Oz phobia.

  70. Tony James – I mentioned pingu but not capitalized; not as THE Pingu. I didn’t think anyone would know what I was talking about. I only mean I really didn’t know if they would know. My favorite Pingu episode is when he flushes the green beans down the toilet! Nyowt-Nyowt!

Theo – Language barrier? No comprende. The link is kaput. What was it?

  71. herr kittinfuhrer – if you speak quietly and I listen closely…

  72. Pyrit — keep trying. It comes & goes. OR… just watch the Pingu vid, and click “pause” at 3:00 minutes exactly. Proceed to ponder.

  73. anomalous4 says:

Amazing birds, penguins. I love ‘em.

My favorite penguin pic is the shot in March of the Penguins, where the little guy has gotten just a bit too big to burrow in underneath mom or dad, but it tries anyway and is left with its head hanging out under the parent’s rear and its fuzzy little butt hanging out the front.

I went to see the movie with my best friend, a somewhat curmudgeonly guy in his mid-50s, and when that scene came on, we both laughed so hard, everyone for at least 3 rows around was turning around to see who was making all that noise.

  74. KittinKapitan – in zis case, kom stand ver’ close und I vill visper ze secret in your shell-like…

  75. Little baby, little baby!

  76. pookiepuff says:

    Awww! Baaaaaby! So cute! ;)

  77. eee! dittle pengueen schnuggles! it is important that all creatures get enough snuggles; be sure to give some to your fellow creatures today!

  78. Oh, King Penguins! Daddy there probably stands about 1m tall, so you can guess how big baby is. Big ol’ chunky fat bebbeh!

  79. Wait, my bad – those are Emperors. :p It’s too early in the AM for me to know wtf I’m talking about.

And those are about 1.2m tall. EVEN BIGGER BEBBEH!

  80. Theo! It worked! Thanks!

  81. Those are Emperors? GASP. The adult looks quite short. It must be its first time at baby raising =] Ze chick looks like he is almost too tired to snuggle too much.

  82. I bet that little penguin is cold, so he’s snuggling up to his mommy to keep warm. ^_^

  83. first, i have to say i LOVE penguins! =)

and what i was going to write…i saw happy feet! it’s pretty cute and viewers get an environmental message too. dancing penguins are hilarious!

  84. AWWWWWWWWWW bebeh Pingie!

TJ & TO – Dontcha think Pingu’s baby sister, rather than Pingu himself, is a better likeness of this fella?

  85. TO CUTE! LOVE THE LINKS PRSON WHO LINKED TO U-YUBE!!! MY LITTL BRO AND I ARE STILL LAUGHING! MY CAP LOCK IS STUCK….

  86. Aw how cute is this
