Then and Now

Remember when you were young, skinny, and could fit in a sink? "Eustace" kitteh remembers.

Ahhhhhh. Cool siiiiinkatude.

XO, Cathy H. 😉

  2. misscrisp says:

    I am STILL laughing.
    I love you Eustace.

  3. Amazing how even his head got, er, less thin. I’d love to give this juicy boy a squeeze. Bet he’s a handful, in more ways than one.

  4. Overflowing lappity-cat goodness!

Oh, and visit the cafe, won’t you?

And it’s NOT where ‘everyone knows your name’. Please accept me into your lives. My neighborhood is empty.

  5. OOH I lurve fat kittehs! I just want to bury my face in their tummy fatness! //Side note// I remember when I could fit into smaller things… like my PANTS… thats what two kids’ll do to you!//

  6. Cats expand to fill the sink available. With a little paw overlappage allowed.

  7. OMGOSH Zap you know those sponges that expand in water??? You sooo just reminded me of that!

  8. “See?? I told you I still fit!!”

I have a 18-pound Maine Coon kitty who does the same thing… I love how kitties have no sense of their own size!

  9. Aw. AWWW.

I love the difference in expression; the kitten’s all ‘Can I sit here?’ *bambi eyes* and the grown cat is all ‘Yeah, I’m in the sink. So?’

  10. *Head-boink* to Eustace; .

you were gorgeous THEN and still are, NOW …

there’s so much more of you to love …

  11. Eustace … Thanks for giving me reason to smile today when I needed it most …

  12. useta hada kitteh says:

Aubrey, your Vox is so cooool! If I were a Voxian, I would put my name forth as a friend-and-neighbor, but, alas, I am not a Voxian, for behold, I am a kitteh of very little knowledge of things that would be worthy of Voxification, and so I remain un-voxified. But I would befriend you on Vox if I could.

Meanwhile, this cat with the sinking sensation is also exceptionally cool. Not to mention cute. Not to mention, “My, how he’s grown!” It’s a perfect illustration of the words my aunt said to me when I was enthusiastically describing a new place I was moving into, and how much space there would be. She wisely said, “things expand to fill the space available”. Apparently, cats, also, expand to fill the space available.

  13. Aubrey – if you can cope with the excitement…I’m Your Neighbour Now…bwa ha haah aha ha ah ah ah ah ah..!

[comes over all Mr. Rogers, but Mr. Rogers with a mad glint in his eye, bloodstains on his cardigan, and a smoking Magnum dangling from his fingers, because he’s just busted a cap in the ass of that purple pervert Barney – “Time the beezatch learned just how far the neighbourhood’s turf extends…now, where’s Mr. McFeeley..?]

  14. sigh… what is WRONG with my cats that they don’t sit in the sink?? :p It makes me very sad. Even though they typically exhibit many of the other Rules of Cuteness.

(not that sinks are a rule… but maybe they should be!)

  15. Same kitteh, different eyes?

  16. Cathy gets kudos for making that enamel SHINE like new in the years between photos.

… her bathroom looks almost identical to mine, save for the clean sink…

  17. LOL!!! What a fine name for a kitty – “Eustace.”

And Aubrey – welcome to Vox! YAY!

  18. AlbertaGirl says:

    This darn sink keeps shrinking!!!

  19. That’s a marmie and cream kitteh, right? Looks like someout turned off the tabbie.

Well, TJ – it looks like I chose the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Useta – please. When you think you have nothing to say is just when you’ll find it easiest to express yourself. Get thee to a Vox-ery.

  20. I’m curious as to the length of time between the pics. My little kittie is already growing SO fast!

  21. ohhhh how i love a little ginger kitteh.. and same ginger kitteh 20 lbs later. So cute! what’s even neter is my bathroom is that same seafoam green tile.. not as cool of a sink though.. and no ginger kitteh occupants! how sad!

  22. marmalade kitty in the sink! i too, wonder where my skinny kittens went too… they are all big adults now! and eustace! what a mouthful of a name! no worse than my mayflower…

  23. Both cat and sink have become slightly cleaner over time…

    Handsome puss, though.

  24. LOL – Heather S. mentioned those spongy things you put in water. I’ve just finished chronicling one of these on my blog

Was this kitteh left in a glass of water for three days too? 😛

  25. Get her a pillow… she’s trying to sleep.

  26. “Does this sink make me look fat?”

  27. Peg of Tilling says:

If he’s actually cleaning the sink his name could be “Eustace Clarence Scrubbie” but he doesn’t look like he deserves it.

My cats use the sink for their personal drinking fountain:

A bowl of water changed twice daily not good enough, no. There will be an available drip or immediate protest.

  28. this picture transformation reminds me very much of my kitteh kat pumpkin, who has definitely grown into his name.
no fitting in sinks for him anymore…

  29. ShelleyTambo says:

Those little kitteh feets are pretty big, though. No surprise he grew into such boy.

  30. Brak_Silverbone says:

Eustace is a cutie-pie, no matter what size he is!

  31. That is freaking adorable! I love the “then-and-now”! Maybe if the kitteh loses some weight there could be a “before-and-after” series!

  32. It’s interesting how the space between the stripes expanded.

  33. AawwwwwwwWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!
Now I need to dig out the old pix of Bounce. And some sort of scanner.

  34. Can I just say Eustace is a fantastic name for a cat! I lurrrve cats in sinks.

  35. As for the different eyes, it’s common for kitty eye colors to change as they grow from babies to youngsters. The all-grown-up Eustace has lovely copper eyes, sort of rare in most non-pedigreed kitties.

Peg of Tilling, love the Narnia reference!!

  36. “…we’re gonna need a bigger sink!”

  37. No fair! That belongs on the cats in my sink blog! Stop stealing their shtick!

  38. D2D, that should be said in a Helen Mirren voice -“We’re going to need CONSIDR’BLY bigger sinks !” I’m still laughing. Awesome Eustace, solemn Eustace, Seri-Eustace – the possiblities are endless. Oh, Endless Eustace!

  39. ScorpioSpirit says:

Posting this – THIS – without a mention of, or link to,

  40. It appears that there’s enough Eustace to spread across both the sites!

  41. A cat. Named Eustace. It sounds like the subject of a really bad children’s book. 🙂

    Cute cat though.

  42. CRAP!! Ya’ll I’m trying to make a photoshop pic of “instant grow cats”. I CAN NOT DO IT! I’ve got a pic of a cat and a pic of a clear pill capsule and I can not do it! Doggoneit!

  43. Looks like he grew into his paws 😀

  44. The name Eustace is all I need to start me grinning over teh kit pics. Wonderbar!

And, Aubrey, I can’t add you to my nayberhood…when I click on “edit” on your blog nuthin happens. *sob*!

  45. …that’s my cat’s name too. he also got fatter.

  46. Netherland Dwarf rabbit, owner!!♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ says:

It is mentioned S Spirit…Look at the left sidebar…And has been for as far back as I can remember…

  47. Karen in Toronto says:

I need to get my CD drawer unstuck so I can put in the disk for the camera software so I can download pics of the Peabrain boy after I’ve taken pics of when he gets in the sink to play. He keeps all his extra paws and tails in the sink so he never gets bored when the water isn’t trickling.

  48. Peg of Tilling says:

Thanks, Kim H.–I wish I remembered which book that was from.

Karen in Toronto, I’m picturing Peabrain with a full toybox of accessories: “These are my only-for-best paws, and this is my Christmas tail–you can tell it’s for Christmas because it’s green and strung with lights. I have tinsel whiskers to go with it.”

  49. Donna and ScorpioSpirit — In this case, CuteOverload was lucky enough to receive these photo submissions, not CatsInSinks. There’s no conflict, thankyouverymuch. Maybe quit trying to make something out of nothing.

  50. Whooooooa. Was that said in a j/k manner, Donna? Hope so.

We don’t want to be goin’ where only is allowed to post pictures of cats in sinks. That is going to get WAY too compli-cat-ed.

  51. P of T, I think it’s from Voyage of the Dawn Treader. “There once was a boy names Eustace Clarence Scrubbs, and he almost deserved it” or some such.

And Theo… we love it when you get testy.

  52. “Blend the yeast into the kitteh batter with a few swift strokes, and leave in bathroom sink until double in size. While the kitteh is rising, grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan…”

  53. He is beautiful when he’s testy, isn’t he? 😉

  54. Lol, HelloKnitty!

  55. musicchick2 says:

Happy Sunday! Love these pics, but dont’cha wish they stayed kittens forevah and evah?? My 2 babies are now 17 and 13 lbs. And they were SO teeny when I got them 9 yrs ago! 😉

Hey, won’t you be my neighbor at Vox?? Come and join the fun and frivolity at Granted, it’s still under construction, but that’ll just give you an excuse to come back again and again! *hugs*

  56. Ooooh, what a wee sweet darling. Methinks Eustace kitty needs huggles…

  57. lurkertype says:

I LOFS Eustace. Mr. LT and I once owned a boy of this coloring and size who liked the sink too. So we greatly enjoyed these pix.

  58. Anyone else notice the way poor Eustace’s head is being pushed in by the faucet? tsk tsk, looks like my stomach around the waist of my pants–trying desperately to squuueeeezzee just an inch more.

  59. You can take the cat out of the sink but you can’t take the sink out of the cat! Very cute! Love that tubby little rascal. (Tubby? I thought we were talking about sinks not tubs!)

  60. Kittens ARE a ton of fun, but for me it’s always a bit of a relief when they grow up and slow down. I likes me a big ol’ lazy middle-aged cat. Especially my grouchy old neutered male long-haired marmie cat. He’s deef as a post and croaks like a raven. But soooo cuddly, and there’s nothin’ better on a cold winter morning on the couch than a sleepy cat…

  61. lurkertype says:

Peg of Tilling, your puddy tats are be-yoo-tiful!

  62. Peg of Tilling says:

Thank you! They are generally less disapproving than they may appear.

  63. hmm someones been watching too much futurama i tink meggy 😛 great caption for an amazing kiddycat – it reminda me of me, not being able to fit into what i used to rofl – and im only 16 and can already rant about the good ol’ days w00t !

  65. Show me another cat in a sink!

show me another cat in a sink!

Show me another cat in a sink!

  66. Elizabeth says:

I think he is totally cuter as a big kitteh! What a cutie!

  67. AuntieMame says:

“I love the difference in expression; the kitten’s all ‘Can I sit here?’ *bambi eyes* and the grown cat is all ‘Yeah, I’m in the sink. So?'”

That pretty much sums it up.

  68. this is awesome. give us more pairs of pictures of the same animal baby + grown up!

  69. Adorable fat kitty…but somebody needs to clean their sink. I’m just sayin’.

  70. Grow-A-Cat: Just Add Water and watch him grow, grow, GROW! Up to 3x his original size! Amaze and entertain your friends! (Not for human consumption or for children under 3 years of age. Size of cat may vary. Do not add water to cat while operating heavy machinery.)

  71. Beauregard says:

Ok, i looked at these photos approximately 105 times this week and JUST noticed… Two faucets? A cold and a hot? What the? Seems a wee bit inconvenient.

  72. It’s just an older style of plumbing, Beau. But I agree.

  73. i like how he starts out as one of the Little Rascals and ends up a perfect Kliban…

  74. hes rather plump isn’t he?
