If you look closely in the closeup… you can see the bar looks wet below it’s mouth. Drooling? Maybe nibbling her way out?

I think extreme close-up hamsters are kind of scary. Yeesh, the toofs. Perhaps her hand should hold a wee little toofbrush? But the ‘normal’ pic.. definitely cute.. in a rodent sort of way

Man, I love rodent tongues. Every once in a while I catch my gerbils stretching and yawning – so much condensed cute it could be developed as a particularly fiendish military weapon!
For the record, the last time I took them to the vet I was informed that the dark yellow color is the proper, healthy color for a gerbil’s teeth, which I’m assuming applies to hamsters as well. So no, Lucy doesn’t need a toothbrush! Cute as that would be.
I love it when my ratties grab my finger with their wittle pink hands and lick my finger. I just wuf wittle wodents!

When I first looked at this picture I thought I was seeing a little rat. It still looks rat-like to me. But I guess I am wrong.

Crystal- From the wideshot of the pic, I also got the impression that she was gnawing on the bar of the cage.
I mean, her face is kinda smooshed up against the bar and her mouth is open. Thus, it’s not totally illogical to think she’s possibly gnawing on the bar.
OK, now I can rest easy LOL.

If you look at the close up you’ll see the two little white teeth at the top, the gold bar in her mouth are *not* her teeth lol! I prefer the bottom lip, very cute. Chewing on bars can be a sign she needs more wood to chew on to keep her teeth at an even level.

Those are her teeth. It’s not the bar, because the bar wouldn’t bend like that. That’s what hamster teeth look like.

I think Sabrina’s right. I had a hamster once, and his teeth never looked ginormous and golden. Sure, they were kinda yellow-ish, but they were small.
My pet Ratty’s teeth are yellowish orange too. I’m pretty sure that it’s normal. I’m not sure if the same goes for hamsters though. this is really cute! I prefer my wittle ratty though.
