Do you know what I mean? The "Soft Kronche™" is when a dog takes a really slow, soft bite on something—real gentle-like—I love that. They’re like: "Is eet OK to bite?" Like when they take a treat, it’s a responsible, soft, kronche.

Oh… the eyes. The sweet soft little “cronche”. You just wait, he’ll (she’ll?) start CRONCHE!!!-ing it soon enough, and then we’ll have photos of the ensuing tug-o-war.

my 7 yr old dog does the same kronche kind of bites..
It’s cute on it’s own…then you notice it’s size in relation to the human paw beside it and suddenly it becomes the UBER CUTE OF DOOM!

Those soft bites don’t come natural, I’ve had to spend many hours teaching mine to take things “nicely” as I tell them.

I would buy him all the toys in Petco.
My dad had a dog (golden lab, I think) who was really good with the Soft Kronche. She was very gentle when she took things out of you hand (treats, toys, etc). It was really nice, I was never worried when I gave her stuff. She was a really sweet dog in general.

Yes, Cuteness Lover, that is exactly what we tell our dogs. “Nicely”. It’s so funny, if we repeat it a couple of times they get so “careful” that only their lips open up to take the treat.
My G-pig Zoe had 5 babies on Thursday night! Just after my daughter and I left on vacation! The little bugger. My son called to tell us they were born. Sooooo cute!
*soft kronche* is also the sound that my head made when it sploded from the cute overload of round puppy eyes.

Heh! When my pug takes a treat, it’s like a violent treat-annihilating tsunami of fury. She’s a bit maniacal, though. The day she “cronches” will be the day I take a nap without constantly fearing a dog making out with me. Is it weird that I’ve learned to like sleeping with a pillow on my face for safety?

I think retrievers were bred (and trained) not to “bust birds” — that is, bring them back more-or-less intact to the hunter with the shotgun. Their instinct, like with most predatory animals, would probably be just to eat it. The fact that they can overcome their “nature” the way we humans do (in some limited way) may not be rocket surgery… but it surely is brain science.

This little one is called Tara . A friend pointed out that Tara is “A Rat” backwards. She was only about 10 week old and less than a kilogram when the photo was taken.
Yes, grrrromit, it is a bit weird to sleep with a pillow on one’s face. But I’m won’t criticise your adaption to a hostile environment. Wanting a pillow may well be a survival trait.

Aaaack! The eyes! The ear flops! and the PAWS! I’m on a Peace Corps assignment in Albania, and my previous host family’s dog had puppies just before I left them, and ever since I saw that litter, I can never get enough PAW imagery! *plays with teensy claws*

One of my two dogs does the Soft Kronche. He is a 10 yr. old terrier mix and looks vaguely like this little guy, except with huge ears. Similar soulful eyes, though!

I am very familiar w/ the Soft Kronche. I had a dog who loved to eat french fries. She would bite into them really gentle like. I called her the Gentle Fry Eater.
She still has all her tail.
