My orange cat has black spots on his lips (do cats really HAVE lips?) but I have always assumed they were just gunky tartar. Am I wrong?

Finally, the Sylvia Beach Hotel on the Oregon Coast does have lovely kitties and tons of books, as mentioned. But I don’t think they let you take the kitties in your room, sadly.

If anybody is curious, the black freckles commonly seen on orange cats (including mine) are called lentigo simplex.

My wife and I stayed there! We shared a room with Bambi (I think?), who was a total sweetie. She was like the best hot water bottle you could have on the cold winter night we were there. One of our friends derisively called Anderson House the Kitty Brothel.
