Built-in, ready to go

by Meg on May 26, 2006

Some peeps are reeeeally lucky—they’re born with snorgle action built-in. Tapirs and Aardvaaaarks have it MADE. They barely breathe in, and it’s INSTA-SNORG. Look at this lil’ guy!

LOL. rule 7 in full effect!
(Rule of Cuteness #7: A thing, accompanied by a smaller version of that thing, is always cute)

i think there should be a built-in-snorgle section. there’s been a couple of them lately :)

5 lilie 05.26.06 at 11:04 pm

8 Aubrey 05.26.06 at 11:21 pm

I don’t see a mouth
Does the nose absorb food?
I’m not passing judgement
Don’t want to be rude;
These are called aardvarks
They eat how they please
And all I’m saying is:
Take care when they sneeze!

9 punkpie 05.26.06 at 11:55 pm

LOL, more proof that God has a sense of humor!

Total Rule number seven right there. D’aw!

13 Tammy 05.27.06 at 12:41 am

There must be a new Rule of Cuteness dictated by this photo: growing into your limbs!

14 alice 05.27.06 at 12:47 am

Pointy ears!!!

15 E. Collison 05.27.06 at 12:49 am

AARDVARKS!!! (I’m not yelling, juat being emphatic.) Swoon.

Some months back, I put a photo of a baby African aardvark (name o’ Gracie) on the CuteTracker. And finally, here comes the payoff!

A thousand thousand thanks, Meg.

Oh, BTW, can we have a “snorle/snorgling” category? Some days I just need a virutal snorgle or two, and I bet I’v got company…

17 VaCKo 05.27.06 at 1:20 am

22 Aubrey 05.27.06 at 2:03 am

I think everyone should travel with his personal doppelganger.

23 E. Collison 05.27.06 at 2:03 am

“Oh, and E. Collison, the mama aardvark in this picture IS Gracie!”

Could they be related? Enquiring minds want to know.

24 Theo 05.27.06 at 2:09 am

Just to try & clarify… “snorg” and “snorgle” are really verbs:
http://www.squidgrid.com/cute/Glossary.htm#Snorgle

…though it looks like a noun variation is trying to emerge here, meaning something like “trunk” (like on the front end of an elephant) or “proboscis” (Jimmy Durante) apparently.

25 jaypo 05.27.06 at 2:34 am

Methinks they be like bunnypigs.

26 jaypo 05.27.06 at 2:36 am

27 Tanya 05.27.06 at 3:40 am

wooshie-woo….

28 Barton 05.27.06 at 4:42 am

I think ‘Earth-pig’ is the preferred nomenclature, though you should inquire with Cerebus to be sure.

29 Serena 05.27.06 at 5:22 am

30 Becca 05.27.06 at 8:30 am

E. Collison:

“One of the newest additions to the Brookfield Zoo, a female aardvark named Paatsy, right, sticks close to her mother, Gracie, during mealtime Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the zoo in Brookfield, Ill. It will still be several more weeks before Paatsy, born March 30, makes her debut before zoo visitors.”

34 Netherland Dwarf rabbit, owner!!♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 05.27.06 at 6:22 pm

Okay Sandy…I too took another look…
If by part rabbit you mean those ears…I agree with ya! :) Whoa! Massive…very rabbit like
but that rabbit would be from King Kongville. LOL!

35 Dustbunny 05.27.06 at 8:35 pm

Aaardvark is one of the funniest animal names, IMO. Along with yak, wildebeest and gnu. Aardvark…aardvark…I just like saying that : )

36 E. Collison 05.27.06 at 9:48 pm

Piggybuns, perhaps?

I like the word “aardvark,” myself. And I’ve got a huge soft spot for anteaters…

37 Dustbunny 05.27.06 at 11:02 pm

Speaking of anteaters, what are these 2 eating? Is it *ant*ipasto or the main course…erm…antree??

38 maltese parakeet 05.28.06 at 3:47 am

i know these aardvarks are gurlz, but i can’t help hearing the jackie mason voice from “the ant & the aardvark” cartoon from the 70’s when i look at this picture!

39 Ceebs 05.28.06 at 1:39 pm

I want one!!! I have plenty of ants in my back yard too. He’s got ears like my chihuahua! :-P

40 Mr. Dude 08.26.06 at 6:14 pm

Barton, you’re right. Aardvark means “earth pig” in-I think Afrikaans. (They like their double a’s there. Aardvark, Aardwolf, Afrikaans- Notice a connection?) But I hate aarvarks. I hate them. They’re smelly, ugly, and did I mention ugly? I think I did. Anteaters are so much better-at least they have noticeable fur. Am I the only person here that hates aardvarks? Grrr!
