First?
Young birdies are masters at falling off to sleep suddenly.
On a farm I lived at, there was a young (slightly deformed) baby turkey that I used to spend time with. A few seconds of stroking and the head would droop more and more till she was out like a light. Put down, her legs would collapse and she’d nap in a little ovoid on the sawdust. Tres cute.

How can people *eat* that? Or just kill for no reason?? Male baby chicks are tossed out in the egg production industry. I’ve seen them tossed into a huge trash can and then suffocated to death. So sad. Don’t eat animals.
