Actually I have a cat that looks EXACTLY like this one and he is not deaf. Researchers say that anywhere between 1.4% – 2.5% of the entire cat population is comprised of white cats with blue eyes who are not deaf… so they are pretty rare indeed.

What a gorgeous kitty! My first cat was a white odd-eyed (blue/green) polydactyl, and he had intact hearing. Now I have another white green/blue odd-eyed cat, normal toes, and he is completely deaf.

Kimberly—-That’s true, but I heard something to do with their gender also. I had an all white male w/blue eyes, I named Casper, and he wasn’t deaf. Maybe someone on here might be better informed on that (?) A very good point and one I’ve often wondered about.

As far as white/blue-eyed/deafness, you’re right it’s not 100%, but it’s close. I have one that looks just like our delectable subject here (except reversed eyes) and she’s deaf as a post. And LOUD! when she meows.
