Rufus stops by for a bite

ROOFEES is back. While his Mom and Pop were out on a dinner date, Rufus got a little "mungry" (‘hungry’ in Mongrelspeak) and decided to do some chomping on his babysitter—Van Gogh-style. It was a delightful evening.

  1. ooooooooooo
so anerable, love roooofeeees! just too prosh!
    i wanna snorgle him!!

    iiiiieeeeeeeeee^-^

  2. FIRST COMMENT!! I can’t believe my luck.

EVERYONE–as we love the Cuteness of the Universe, at this very moment thousands of baby Harp seals are being slaughtered. Please say a little prayer for these anerable, prosh, warm fuzzies who will suffer. And don’t buy Canadian sea food until it never happens again. Thanks.

    Oh–what a look!!

  3. demonstar!!

  4. Eee came back for the luh-zadees, certainment!

    (J’ai un *supér*-snorgle….)

  5. oh roofie you can nibble my ear anytime!

  6. Oui, I ‘ave jealouz-ment of theese *homme* y ‘eees oreille… Je suis desolée, cher Roofees.

  7. Moochiecat says:

Look at how nice and white his liddle teethies are!!!

  8. L. Bendavid says:

Can someone tell me what “anerable” means? I understand “prosh” “squee” and all the other terms, but this one has me stumped. Regards,L.

  9. L. Bendavid,

    anerable = adorable

is “cutespeak”. you don’t have to understand it, just live it…

  10. jaypo–with all due respect, some northern Canadian communities [mainly indigenous Inuit] depend on year-round fishing and hunting for their livelihood, including seal. They wouldn’t survive if it weren’t for the seal hunt.

Seals are killed quickly and humanely as possible.

There is a very large seal population which in turn depletes the cod population, which is another source of livelihood. Cull helps keep it under control.

yes, seals are cute. but it doesn’t make it wrong to kill them.

    -your friendly Canadian

  11. Okay, Roofies cute, big pic of ear is kinda gross. It’s not that it’s not…clean…just that it’s, well, gross.
PS: I’m on the fence about seal hunting, but coming from a rural background (picture twanging banjos)I can say that many species need to be culled or they either wreak havoc on the environment or starve in inclement weather. I don’t think seal hunting is a sport, but a way of life and sustenance.

  12. This is the best Rufus pic yet! All personality.

(and Jaypo — dead baby seals? WTF? I know I get off-topic a lot, but that’s just beyond all reaching. Feel free to be vegetarian tonight… meanwhile, look, it’s Roufese!)

  13. A Thinker – thank you.

    A fellow Canadian

  14. Wow, what timing!

  15. A thinker–Thanks for your comments. I always appreciate alternative points of view.

    Theo–no veggie.

Roofee rules the page!! not me.

  16. Now I know I’m biased, because I am first and foremost a dog person. But I really think Rufus is one of the most beautiful animals I have ever seen in my entire life. What gorgeous, soulful eyes and such a silky soft smooth coat. This is perfection, people. Siiiiiigh……

  17. Jeez, is there no limit to that dog’s cuteness? Look at the light-hearted mischief in those eyes. Makes me all ticklish on the inside!

  18. While I lead a pathetic, dogless, small-apartment life, some people get to babysit Rufus. There is no justice in this world.

  19. And quel poseur! He knows exactly what he’s doing to us, wrapped around his little paw. A very knowing pup!

  20. Looks like things got a little too frisky ;P

  21. Nice pic of Rufus on CU on the computer in the background!

  22. Pup snax!

  23. Wow, Thali – I completely missed that.

    Thanks!

  24. It is time for you to creat a Rufus category on the left!

  25. From another Canadian:

No one is protesting native peoples who need to kill seals to survive. Seriously, do a little research on Google. Jaypo is absolutely right that we ought to do something, though I’m not sure his/her comment was relevant here. This is not an issue of sustenance or culling overpopulated animals in any sense, and it should not go on as it does.

  26. okay – instead of praying (haha) why don’t you get out there and do something about the seals being slaughtered in such a disgusting manner – the least you could do is sign a petition if it’s really something that is bothering you.

aaaaanyway, rufus is looking quite cute, as usual :) hee hee

  27. Rufie baby knows how to be FIERCE for the camera. No dead eyes on him!

Even Janice Dickinson would have to give him his props.

  28. who doesn’t want to nibbled on by an eetalian lovEr?

  29. Puhleeeeeze, someone tell me what kind of dog that is! I want one.

  30. Woods walker says:

Jaypo, not everything in reality is as we would like it. There are things that have to be done to keep civilization civilized. Cute provides a escape from the harsher realities of this world. People who complain about reality probily do not live in much of one.-Woods Walker

  31. Oh man, look at that ear. Are they sure he’s not in a coma? 0.o

  32. Rufus is my BOYFRIEND!!!!!!

  33. Roofies! Oh how I lurve you, Roofies. You may nibble on my ear any time. *Rrrrrrr…hehehe*

  34. Cute puppy :)

And while since we’re on the issue, the seal hunt makes me ashamed to be canadian :(

Clubbing over the head is not humane, any way you look at it. And if the fish are low in humber, its cause of humans screwing up the balance of the environment in the first place. Two wrongs never make a right. People make me sick sometimes.

  35. The Guy Over There says:

    Doggy piercings ROCK!

  36. OOOUUUUUUCHH!

  37. I’d just like to say that the seal hunt is a lot more complicated than people like to think it is. It’s like any controversial topic: it requires serious discussion and research. A simple google doesn’t cut it for research (I saw it on the internet so it must be true!) and I don’t think the comments on cuteoverload.com are the place for discussion. I come here to NOT think about complicated issues for five minutes.

More on topic, this doggie is anerable! Like a smaller, cuter Mike Tyson!

  38. “Like a smaller, cuter Mike Tyson!”

LOL!… soooo… not actually very much like Mike Tyson hardly at all, then, there, eh?

  39. Theo – Heh, touche.

  40. Hey! That’s my ear getting chomped, people! I’m glad you’re all having a splendid time while I’m having major ear reconstruction surgery.

By the way, how about a few props for the Wifey, who took the picture? Such composition…

Finally, “Seal People,” please just drop it. There are far better places to have such a debate where you might actually be able to make an impact. Just bask in the glow of Rufusian goodness.

  41. Hey now, I got nuttin but luv here. See above:

I also like how Rufus does the black nail-polish thing. Very dour, great ironic gesture there — but check it out, you missed one, dawg.

  42. That’s ***hot***

  43. Rufus, will you marry me?

  44. I love Rufus! But the little tomato soup dog is cuter I think. We need more photos of him

  45. Thank you, Sparkster!

Et maitenant, le chien italien amoureux pour *moi*!!!!! Tout le monde can look, mais *ne touchez pas*… C’est *mon* chien, ma bebe….

  46. Italian Greyhounds make great pets if you can figure out how to housebreak the little things.

    I have a 12-year-old IG named Bambi.

(psst, theo, it’s not black nail polish, he really has some black toenails and some white toenails.)

  47. I this what he is? An Italian greyhound? I suppose he’s cute, but I gotta go with floppy-eared dogs as THE cutest!!

  48. Ouch! does not look like fun…

  49. Lick My Pickles says:

I love how cute overlaod is on the pc in the background!!

Such cute little toofie’s on Roofie!

  50. Subhangi says:

Is it just me or is he doing a Sharon Stone imitation a la ‘Basic Instinct’?!

  51. Oh, but Roofees is a luh-zadies’ chien:

    http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/images/pillowtalk_1.jpg

  52. hahaha, I love this comment: “cutespeak. you don’t have to understand it, just live it”

    so true, so true

  53. He is such a yittle nibbler! Roofisdoozikon the destructor! AKA Rufitron… doing business as Roofees.

    His dogster profile is at:
    http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=241786

He just learned to run and take a flying jump, about 3 feet high, and catch the frisbee. I am so proud of the little man.

  54. Is he really an Italian Greyhound? He appears to have the smoothest, shiniest coat I have ever seen- do they wash this dog with Pantene or what? I want to pat him!

  55. JessJess says:

Ya know, I do the same thing when my boyfriend holds me like that… Course he doesn’t scream in agony :-P

  56. We have never chewed on the Human’s ear. But one time while she was sleeping she had her mouth open and Cujo licked the inside of her mouth. Man, did she freak out! I don’t know what her problem was. Her breath smelled like last night’s pizza and he figured her teeth needed cleaning!

  57. Hi,everyone,
I apologize for throwing worldly poopoo into our wonderful escape from the same. CuteO is the wrong forum for such things and everyone’s opinions and feelings have my utmost respect. Mea culpa…

(esp. to WoodsWalker, thanks for the best reminder of all.)

  58. Folks, I’m with Jaypo. Mucho apologia. Wrong time, wrong place. Let’s get back to the Cute. . .

    [sorry Jaypo too!]

  59. Brianne I. says:

so adorable! the feets one made me cry with cuteness, but this… AH! this is the FOURTH picture of this beautiful animal… i say he gets a category of his own!!!

  60. Brianne — Rufus doesn’t need a category, he’s got his own SITE. (Dogster; see Kosher’s comment above. Of course, Rufus’ best stuff is on CuteOverload, so you may actually have a point.)

  61. he has better teeth than most humans i know!

  62. adorababy says:

i love Roofurs too. i like best when he stuffed himself into the arm of a coat.

  63. adorababy says:

oh, I forgot… that was oscar… I still would like to kiss Rufurs

  64. *g* I have to admit if we can have things like America’s Next Top Model why not CO’s Prosh Pup…

Seriously though, that is the most impish look I have ever seen from a dog, its FABULOUS!!!

  65. Rufus is sooo cute! Look at those eyes…He needs his own personal cute site! I need something to fill the gap left by Baruchito’s homecage no longer being updated.

  66. Greyhounds of the larger variety are cute too! I love Rufus’ coloring though. He and I could be friends forever.

  67. lauren — nana and coco have been at work. suggest u revisit the Homecage.

  68. More of the lowest form of wit…
    http://www.squidgrid.com/images/misc/digadeedledum.jpg

  69. adorababy says:
  70. Finn, thanks for the clue! Little Baru lives on in the adventures of Nana and “Papa.” The world is right again… ;-)

  71. I think this is the first I’ve seen Rufus with a person, I thought he was a bigger dude!
If a pooch can be sexy, then Rufus has got IT in spades!

  72. Look out! My cute-as-can-be black Labrador puppy did that to me when I was 5 years old, and I still have the scar to prove it! :-)

Oh, and that is just too cute of a dog.

  73. Looks like Rufus got even for that sport interview :o3

  74. Here’s what happened. Sparkster was showing Roofies the interview he posted on CO. Roofus realized that he was TOTALLY misquoted and bit Sparkster to pay him back.

I still vote for Roofies in his doggie hoodie for the tshirt!

    reg

  75. cute overload and rufus (and bunnies) save my sanity again…and the gerbil Paw of Whitest Splendor…does anyone remember Miss Bianca?

  76. Miss Bianca – yes! (But she was a mouse.)

  77. Miss Bianca was a mouse, but the first glimpse we had of this beautiful gerbil looked so much like i imagined her. i’m so glad someone else remembers. have you also read the churchmice books by g oakley?

  78. OH, Miss Bianca. She was *wonderful*. . .and Mrs. Frisby. . .and Ralph the motorcycle mouse. . .*sigh*

  79. Actually, I picked up the Miss Bianca books (as many as I could find) a few years back, as stress relief. I’m a Margery Sharp fan, but had never read any of her kids’ books before. They were enchanting – and definitely some of her best work.

  80. deirdre says:

hm, i didn’t know m sharp wrote anything else. i’ll look into this–thanks

  81. Ahahaha! Aieeee! Makes me giggle.

  82. Wow, I don’t know if I’ve been to this post before, but I love the tongue from that dude!!!!!!!! Soooo cute!!!!!!

  83. lol is that dog’s name tyson?

  84. A. Lestrange says:

Ouch. That has to be the reddest ear. Ever.

    Roooooooofees! He’s such a hottie-pup!
