Eastern_phoebe…and now that the high-pitched squeals of cuteness worship have died down, you may be interested to know that the official name for this species is Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis Phoebe). We at Cute Overload pride ourselves on highly educational and informative content. Discovery Channel has nothing on us.This magnificent picture is only a small part of Professor Bill Eddleman’s wildlife photography portfolio.

Awww. I don’t even like birds that much, but it’s round. And fuzzy. And cute.

I was wondering, “Wow, how’d that guy get the little birdie to sit on his finger?” Then I went to his website and looked at all the photos–he’s holding all the birds tight by the legs! Nice photos and all, Perfesser, but jeez, please don’t traumatize the wildlife! Let them be!

That is one cute phoebe. The Professor was mist-netting birds for a Management of Wildlife Populations class. It doesn’t hurt them, but it sure does tick ‘em off. The cardinals especially will bite the tar out of you. Heh.

Let me tell you people…Phoebes are some of the most friendly and social birds out there. They’re pretty ubiquitous, so please pay them some attention. You will be rewarded a hundredfold if a Phoebe decides to become your friend.
