Teeny, tiny, tired

by Meg on December 29, 2005

I know, I know, we don’t have enough cute damn birds on the site. I keep hearing about that and the lack of piglets. Do you know how hard it is to find a suitable cute piglet for this site? Do you people know I have a full time job? Well at least one problem is solved; thank the lo’ for Ms. Kay Webster, who submitted this teeny, tiny, tired Bummingherd. So prosh.

Wowee, I’m impressed if a wild hummingbird landed on your finger, or I’m impressed that you have a tame hummingbird. Either way.

That’s amazing! I have always wanted to see a hummingbird NOT in action. Their little wings are always going like mad. So cool!

Wow, nice picture. I’ve been able to get hummingbirds to land on my finger if I’m around a feeder. If it’s a popular hummingbird feeder, you just stand really still with your finger out near where the spout is and eventually one will land on your finger! It’s so cool to hear them buzz around your head too!

I have seen hummer toes in a bird shop in Escondido California before and close up they looked like tiny black threads. I love and collect hummers at home. My sister-in-law saw a rare Albino hummer in Oceanside CA and the Audobon (sp?) Society recognizes it and knows it exists in our area!

I adore hummingbirds. My mom has a place in AZ and has feeders everywhere. A baby ruby throated landed on her deck table and was investigating things – I’ve never sat so still in my life or wished for my camera soooo bad! This picture is fabulous! I am sending it to my mom right now!

someone just told me about your site…I’m seriously going to have to check it over when I’m not at work. I’m all excited now. Here’s the photo that was commented on saying I should show it to you guys. I always said it was so cute it makes you want to vomit http://static.flickr.com/41/77105989_db901ceb8b.jpg?v=0

My fiancés old neighbor made a huge cardboard stand up of himself so that birds would land on. They became comfortable enough landing on the stand up that they would land on him as well. It is so surreal how they all flutter around him.

What a sweet little hummingbird!

Am I the only who thinks birds are kinda creepy and not cute? It’s those beady little eyes and nasty little clawed feet. And all that fluttering they do…

Incredible pic! :)

24 Kate 12.30.05 at 3:14 am

Wow! This is incredible. It is very difficult to get a good picture of them because they move so quickly. My parents always put out tons of feeders during spring, but I have never been able to get a good pic of one.

Wow! I’m impressed…the hummer’s at my folks’ house are evil! I’d be afraid to get this close to one (they’ve attacked my cat’s head while she did nothing more threatening that sun herself on their deck). You’re brave (and that is a beautiful photo)

(regarding your comment above the picture)
“not to mention, it’s hard to get a lil’ piggie to sit and pose on your finger like this little guy…. He is too cute! My boyfriend, JD, got to hold/help a lil’ pooped hummy-bird when it flew inside the building at work one day, and glided to the floor after an exhausting attempt to get back outside. JD picked him up, carried him outside and set him down on a shelf til he re-cooped…. which took him ’bout 5 mins. or so. When JD tells that story, he kinda sticks his lower lip out & makes a sad-face while he’s talking, but I don’t think he realizes it. He’s such lil’ sweetie too.
