God love the Japanese

by Meg on December 13, 2005

Once again, the Japanese make us want to commit hari kiri in the battle of who can deliver the CUTEST items to market. I bow before you. Audience, may I submit the following evidence; “Wanroom Phone”, “Strawberry Cat-cake” and the pièce de résistance; Wan Wan bed (whatever that means but it comes with slippers!).Please have mercy on us, for we can never compete! These fine items are products of the “Spiral and Circle” website. You can also find the bed and slippers here!

FREE SHIPPING, People!

Dogs in Japan say “Wan Wan” rather than “Woof Woof”, so maybe a Wanroom is a room of dog-shaped furniture?

Hey Brem, does the feed on the left work for you? It says “Subscribe to this blog’s feed” —works for me, but I wonder if that’s just Mac?

Wow, is that second photo edible?

Doesn’t work for me :(
it gives me jibberish.

I’m on windows with firefox 1.5.

I got it to work… but I believe that there is a tag missing on your header so that my RSS browser finds automatically your feed. I had to manually enter the address in my RSS reader. Anyway, just telling you that it didn’t work too well for me, but I subscribed, at last.

keep the cuteness comin

You’re right, the Japanese absolutely have the cute market cornered.

I love, love, love your site.

Wanroom means puppy room in Japanese. :3
“Wan” is like how we would say like “arf!” like a dog bark.

The kittens appear to be from the San-X line “Nyan Nyan Nyanko”, which consists of kittens that like to dress up as things, primarily food. Most of it is too cute for words.

Ah, but it’s a pun. “Wanruumu” or “one-room” is a Japanese loanword meaning “studio apartment”…an apartment with one room. Added with the “wan wan” sound a dog makes, and there you go, a dog apartment. ;)

I think “WAN Room”.

hara kiri, not hari kari. :D it’s the japanese way of comitting suicide.

There are many more pieces of Wanroom furniture – including a bed. (The slippers are supposed to go with it.)

I especially like the Wanroom potted cactus plant…

Wan Wan is the japanese doggie sound, probably refers to puppy furniture. roughly the same idea as if we called something “meow meow ___” So. there ya go.
